If you don’t need Dolby Vision, this player does just fine with the HDR. The HDR optimizer comes in super handy during the daytime to battle sunlight. Standard Blu-ray looks fantastic upscaled and the sound is on point.

For anyone looking for a first rate movie theater experience the Panasonic 4K Hd player is the way to go. This budget priced 4K performance rivals higher end price 4K players on all levels giving any serious home theater buff a movie experience second to none. The upscale quality on blu-rays is astonishing and movies in the 4K format will blow you away with crisp clear video and mind blowing audio. I reach this product before and at every turn this Panasonic 4K player topped the list for affordable players and with Panasonic being the leading quality 4K manufacturer this player shows you just why Panasonic stands above all others. The price was right and as always Best Buy service delivering my purchase to my car was excellent.

Panasonic really knocked it out of the park with this player. This 4k player is simply awesome. Sure, it doesn't have Dolby vision, but the picture is so excellent on my LG 70 inch I don't really miss it. Upscales regular Blu ray and DVDs beautifully. Love the HDR options. And the sound is amazing and crystal clear and I haven't paired it to my surround sound yet. If you dont need Dolby vision then you need to get this player.

I purchased a Panasonic Blu-ray player over 10 years ago it's balance of performance, features, and a great remote made it a winner. I tried the entry level Sony UHD player. I'm puzzled by the popularity. Terrible menus and lacking in features. The Panasonic is a true blu-ray upscaler. Terrifically sharp images that will match a 4k upscale disc. The fact that the remote hasn't changed in 10 years says something about the consistent quality of Panasonic devices.

Good unit, but less intuitive (or simply more frustrating) remote control functionality than a Sony player. In particular, there is no button for simply toggling closed captioning on/off, rather, you are forced to navigate menus and then back out/exit each time. On a Sony, it's a simple "on/off" toggle. Similarly, simply showing status (such as elapsed time) is multiple clicks versus simple "on/off" approach in Sony's design. On the plus side, quality of picture and playing of discs is very good.

Expect an older interface because it's not a new product. But what's important is that it gets the job done. Excellent sound and 4K upscaling. Very happy with this product!

What a great Bluray player! Purchased for my ma for Xmas and it was perfect. Easy to connect with HDMI and it has a load of features that ma won't use but it connects to apps so you can stream directly from the box when connected to wifi. Cheers!

I had purchased 2 Sony units before this Panasonic. The Sony's had a great picture - but with a fatal flaw. They would randomly freeze when playing a disc - any type of disc. Usually had to unplug the unit to get it back working. Unacceptable in every way. I've had this Panasonic 4k player for 2 months now -- and never once has it skipped or frozen on playback. It has worked flawlessly, and the picture is on par with the Sony. Upscaling for DVDs also works quite well. Highly recommended.

Quality brand makes the movies shine in brilliant 4k. Even makes Blu-Ray look better. Definitely a must buy for anyone with a 4k television.

Great 4K Blu-Ray player, and that's all it needs to be

Did a reasonable amount of research on 4K players. General consensus was that Panasonic players were very good. Although there were lower priced 4k players available on Black Friday but went with this one. The video quality of the 4k playback is really nice. Coupled with Dolby Atmos the experience was fantastic! If you are looking for a Dolby Vision player then this is not for you as it does not support Dolby Vision, but does play HDR 10 and 10+. Since my television also does not support Dolby Vision this was not a limitation for me. There are two or three negatives I would say about this model. One is a small audible motor whirl when the disk is spinning, although it is not noticeable during playing the movie. The second minor negative is the menu system looks outdated. The last negative is no Dolby Vision but, as I said before, my television does not support it so not an negative for me. Overall, I am happy with the purchase!

I really didn't know how much i was missing out on using my PS4 and Xbox One X for disc playback. After watching a wide array of movies and tv shows both digitally and disc based, I'd have to say this pars great with my LG CX Oled! The upscaling for disc DVDs and Blu-Rays is really something to be impressed with by this player. Though normally DVD's definitely don't look 4k quality, I wasn't expecting that. It just helped smooth and enhance the image quality to what feels like 900p-1080p. Fantastic for some older movies I have that will most likely never see a rerelease. For 1080p, the movies feel almost 4k stream quality, if not better in a couple cases. Not to mention streaming Netflix through this player. Though i miss just waving the LG's magic remote at my choices, i have seen some color enhancement as well as a sharpened image on anything i have streamed through this device so far. Don't get me wrong, the image the tv can output through streaming services was nothing to snuff my nose up at, but somehow, it just feels better. Now I am no videophile...but I can't help but say color me impressed Panasonic! My biggest and only regret when getting this player, was not being able to purchase the ub820 for the splendor that is Dolby Vision. (netflix's list of dolby vision titles are the only i have experienced, but man oh man, the metadata is spicy!) I'll have to acquire that pretty little device down the road. In the meantime, if you are looking at this player, espcially if you have a HDR10+ device, dont hesitate. It has taken the 25-30 films and tv's without a hitch, and laughs at me for thinking otherwise!

Picture quality on bluray disc is excellent, however this player seems to be bluray exclusive, some functions on regular DVD's are (Unavailable) like return to main menu. I'm hoping it will last longer than my last bluray player.

Even though streaming quality has become a lot better before if you are serious about video/audio quality physical media is still the best. Panasonic UHD player is among the best available in the market. What makes this player amazing is the HDR tone mapping which is specially important if you are using a projector. I've watched several UHD movies and have have zero issue with freezing or other issues that I've noticed with playing UHD movies on consoles. The only minor negative is that the player does not have any front display so cannot see if something is playing or paused. For that you have to move up to a higher model.

Great Panasonic 4KBlu-player. I got a great price from Best Buy. I have it hooked up to my 65 in Samsung 4K QLED. Set up was easy and quick. I like that Its so compact. The 4K picture is amazing.

Easy to install and set up. Good upscaling and clear video output. Audio is exceptional as well.

My wife and I absolutely love our home theater system. I am a man of very high standards. This Panasonic Blu-ray is out of this world. Picture is just gorgeous and was a breeze hooking up to our Denon AVR-X4700H. Coming over a entire SVS speaker system of a 7.4.3 setup driving Atmos height speakers. Not only does the Panasonic create a incredibly beautiful picture over a 65" Samsung OLED Television. Sounds absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this Panasonic Blu-ray player and give it a 10 out of 10 rating. I have owned several different Panasonic items. From Boom Boxes of the early 80's to 3 Television sets, stereo systems etc. Never once did I have any issues or problems with any equipment from Panasonic.
