After the tragic death of their incredible bass player; Cliff Burton, they took some time to grieve and plot their next move. Finding Jason Newstead, former Flotsam and Jetsum bassist, they went into the studio and recorded a slew of cover songs for fun. The resulting 5.98 EP was released.
Soon after, they recorded an album of long and epic songs. Many chord changes and tonal vibes. Still dealing with the loss of Cliff..the album has virtually no bass. The guitars are down-tuned and the bass was written to flow with them. That doesn't mean this is not a heavy album. Many crushing, thumping and head-banging songs.
Much different than their previous albums. But, a must-have metal album. Hard. Heavy. Emotional.

Very solid album by the kings of heavy metal/hard rock. This isn't speed metal for speed's sake, it's well thought out melodies & guitar riffs that you wouldn't normally hear on a heavy metal album. And most of the songs are looonng - like 8 or 9 minutes long!!

I found this CD recently and couldn't not buy it. It was in a value bin. Metallica's 4th studio album is one of the greatest ever. The 1st album with Jason Newstead rocks! Over an hour of thrash / metal fury. With songs like One, Blackened, Frayed Ends Of Sanity, the title track, and more. Don't miss this album.

I bought this the day it came out. It was the first compact disc I ever bought. As a young metalhead, my tastes grew and changed until I finally lost interest in Metallica. Fast forward 25 plus years later, and I saw this on sale at BB. I picked this up specifically for my 11 year old son. He loves it.

I saw this album in the 5.99 section at my local Best Buy, and decided to come home with it. I had some concerns that it had been remastered, or that it was some how an inferior product, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Very happy with the purchase.

Obviously, this is a classic album by arguably the biggest American band in history. Think about it. Who has been bigger? All the huge bands that come to mind are British. Would love to hear your opinions.

The album that started their worldwide fame with the video for "One". A great follow up to "Master of Puppets". A great start with new bassist Jason Newsted which would continue with "The Black Album".

This album signals the end of an great era of this band. This album is great, except for the bass is buried in the mix. Otherwise, this album is amazing.

Any Metallica and/or heavy metal fan surely has this album in their collection. Metallica's 4th studio album, it was released in 1988 and was their 2nd best selling album ever. It included the songs "Blackened", "One" and the title track, "And Justice for All...". It also lays claim to the fact that it was the first album with bassist Jason Newsted. All-in-all, a must have for any metal fan.

Classic Metallica. If you grew up in the 80's or 90's and don't own this album you should be ashamed of yourself. Seriously, ashamed!

I've bought this album at least three times due to either losing it, scratching it, or having it stolen. A great follow-up to Master of Puppets.

I remember when this first came out in the 1990's before mp3's were the rage, as they are now. I love the CD and it still stands the test of time.

One of the best Metallica albums ever produced. I have enjoyed this album for a couple decades and it never loses its replay value
