1969 - Reflections On A Year And A Film.

Although I myself graduated in 1968 from high school, I have always loved - for whatever reason - anything the actor Robert Downey Jr. did/does/will do.
His versatility in his roles is amazing and while struggling with his own personal demons - especially drug addiction and his ultimate recovery makes it all the more enjoyable to see anything where his name appears.
With Kiefer Sutherland along as his best friend, "1969" is set during the time of the Vietnam War. When Sutherland's brother is reported MIA, the twosome of Downey and Sutherland do not want to be drafted and devise a plan to steal their files from the draft board thus avoiding being drafted.
What ensues maybe considered typical or atypical of the times but nevertheless conveys many of the emotions and conflicts that occurred with all Americans - in or out of the military, pro or anti war, those the good or bad of the war, and so on.
Some look at it as a period piece but whenever/wherever there is a war, there will be the YES and NO sides and who is to say which was, is, or will be right or wrong.

Interesting rebellious Vietnam film well performances all around. Could of had a better script.
