This is the first projector I have owned, so I am not familiar with the reliability. The projector only had a 1 year warranty so getting by this 2 year plan gives me a little peace of mind.
I would recommend this to a friend

It's worth buying warranty, I've had a few items that I have utilized the warranty to either get a new item or dollars towards a new item.

So a few months ago I purchased an Epson home cinema component and asked for the Geek Squad protection plan. The sales person didn’t offer or explain that they had changed their Geek Squad plans and at the time had two different ones. He sold me the “basic” and when I needed to use it Best Buy gave me the run around and didn’t take care of the issue. I should not have thrown money away on a protection plan that only mimics what Epson gives automatically with the purchase of their product.

I purchased a 2 year Geek Squad warranty which I thought was in addition to the factory warranty. It is not. It is concurrent with the factory one. This was not explained when purchased, that each one covers only part. You have to have it though.

With most of my purchases I usually get the extended Geek Squad protection. I fortunately have not needed to use it very often but it's great to know you are covered.

Since we purchased our Optima HD 1080p projector we have not had any issues. It would seem that as usual we will have wasted our money on a Geek Squad support package. I think it covers replacement bulb service so maybe when we hit the end of life 3000 - 3500 hours it might be of use. But to have them come over and change out a bulb I could do myself...
