An Odyssey
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Film came out in 1968 but, excluding the hairstyles, it looks like it was made in the current year, no matter what year it is. Better than many science fiction films that came decades after it.

2001 has never looked better.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After all these years there's no point in reviewing the film--everything's been said a thousand times already, so I'll ficus on the 4K bluray itself. Wow! Warner did a truly masterful job on this 4K bluray of Kubrick's classic space movie which that ushered in the modern era of special effects. They actually wnt back to the 65mm negatives (versus the 35mm version used on the previous bluray release) and scanned the film to video in 8K resolution. After cleaning it up, removing scratches, dirt, etc. and grading the movie for HDR they downconverted it to 4K for the bluray. All that work shows. This is the ULTIMATE home video release of this film! the detail and resolution are a major step up and the improved color and depth afforded by HDR take it up another notch entirely. I cannot imagine a better looking version. Even some of the colors (like the red chairs on Space Station Five) are back to the colors I remember from seeing it at the Cinerama Dome as a child. The disc has both HDR10 and Dolby Vision so whichever your system can play, they've got you covered. For any fan of this movie with a 4K HDR system at home, getting this disc is A MUST!

Wow, jaw-droppingly gorgeous in 4k!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.2001 is one of my all-time favorite movies; I've seen it in the theater multiple times, and owned it on VHS, Laserdisc, DVD, Blu-ray... the 4k edition, unsurprisingly, blows away the previous home versions. It probably looks better than many of the theatrical showings I've seen. DolbyVision takes it even further with the expanded color and brightness. Highly recommended.

Works well in today’s world!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This movie was definitely ahead of its time! It’s realistic in the sense that it could happen that way if it did happen but also, the story line fits and works well in today’s world!

One of the greatest films ever made.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.2001: A Space Odyssey is truly one of one. There really is no other film like it. The image from the current 4K restoration is stunning. This is thankfully NOT the Christopher Nolan version which had many problems and would never have been allowed to be released had Kubrick still been alive. Don't hesitate for a moment to add this to your collection.

Even more stunning than before.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The most recent blu-ray edition of 2001 looked great. This 4K version far, far exceeds it. Nothing like actually feeling blinded by sunlight reflected off model space stations. The print quality, contrast, clarity, and soundtrack options (either a “remastered” Dolbyized multichannel track or the ORIGINAL multichannel sound) all make this 2001 essential.

Brilliant!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are not a fan of 2001, this is unlikely to change that. If you are a fan and want to learn more about maybe one of the most brilliant looking and intriguing stories in film history. Learn more about this Kubrick masterpiece in this 4k 50th anniversary! Looks better than ever and the extras dig more into this deep psychological look into the future.

A great classic...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.2001 is probably the first sci-fi film that takes the genre seriously. Previous sci-fi movies were pretty campy, but this film escalates the SFX to what it really would be in the future. Considering this film is nearly 50 years old shows its remarkable enduring qualities. The transfer is impeccable, a tad better that the original Blu-Ray release.

great remaster
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Watched this last night. The 4K remaster is fantastic. This film looks like it was shot yesterday, not back in the late 60's....... this remaster is that good. Audio is excellent as well. If you're a fan you need to see this version on a large screen TV with a nice surround system. It will take you back to your youth should you be that old :-)

Simply Outstanding
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is no other way to watch this film now. I have seen it in the theater when it was first released. Since then on TV and VHS and even DVD. This presentation is what all true fans have been waiting for. The color pops, the audio is on the money. If you have never seen it or even if you have, this is a must own demo disc.

||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Greatest Film ever made. 4k puts the regular Blu-ray to shame. This is the best way to watch the film besides screening it in 65mm or 70mm

Science Fiction Cinema Landmark
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Anyone who is a sci-fi (there was a time when fans hated that abbreviation) movie lover has seen this Kubrick film. It doesn't have the best story ever. It's plods along at times, simply for viewers to soak in the scenes of tech and special effects. The director gives drawn out shots to give a believable, even possible space environment. Maybe that's is its greatest accomplishment. Aside from the trippy bookend imagery. The HDR release adds to the revamped "crispness" of the movie. Worth buying it if you love only half the shots in 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Simply Amazing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's been a few years since I last saw 2001 A Space Odyssey so my experience with the film isn't that great. When this came out on 4K/UHD, I felt like that was the best time to revisit it and I was not let down at all. The quality of this is so good that it could've been made last year. The picture quality is insane

Landmark film
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.2001 is a landmark film which inspired such things as Star Wars. The special effects were ahead of its time. Now in 4k, it is a visual masterpiece.
