This is my favorite version of the Christmas Carol. George C Scott knocked it out the park with his performance. In my opinion one of the closest versions to the book. It brings back memories of when I was a kid with my family watching this movie. I decided to buy this movie and now look forward to watching this movie for years to come. Blue Ray gives it a nice touch. I'm very happy I purchased this movie, now I don't have to watch a blurry version on YouTube anymore.

I enjoyed the movie very much when I saw it, for the first time, on television back in 1984; and I was determined if this movie ever comes out on video, I was going to own one of it. When I saw it was on DVD I bought it. A few years later I saw it was on Blu-Ray, and I liked that one even better. The theme song of that movie, "God Bless Us Every One", has its lyrics closed-captioned on Blu-Ray disc; which is a definite plus because the DVD I bought, a few years ago, doesn't have the theme song's lyrics captioned on it. If only there were a few extra features added to the Blu-Ray, I would have rated it as "Excellent" instead of "Good". Namely, I would have liked for some of the music scores, by themselves, to have been added to the Blu-Ray. Specifically, I would love to listen to the score, by itself, of when the Ghost of Christmas Present opens his robe and shows Scrooge the two children, Ignorance and Want. Other than that I am glad, very glad, I bought this Blu-Ray of George C. Scott as Scrooge.

First thing is first. There are a couple remakes available on a Christmas carol. I like this one and the one with Alastair Sim (1951). I think they captured the meaning of the book very well. The transfer on this movie is good, however I am not sure why the aspect ratio is 4:3, not sure why it was filmed that way back in the eighties. The sound is decent too. They show this every year on tv, give it a try and if you like it purchase it.

We watch this every year....it really is a reminder to live an unselfish life and to get the real spirit of Christmas....might be a bit scary for younger members of the family, but this is truly a classic, memorable movie! I think it is even inspirational while also being just a good, well-done movie. George C Scott does an excellent job of being Mr Scrooge. My favorite movie version of The Christmas Carol, though I have also read Patrick Stewart also is worth watching as Scrooge.

I think George C Scott was the best Scrooge, and this screenplay most faithful to the book. The film was originally released as a TV movie in 1984, and is presented in 4:3 full frame as a result. The rendering is clear, and doesn't suffer from viewing in HD.

What can I say except it is George C. Scott playing Scrooge. If you remember Scott playing Patton, this is the same intensive effort to make Scrooge not just an old scrooge, but a human who had a bad childhood and made decisions that left him seeking wealth rather than love. I wish it was in wide screen.

This is my absolute favorite movie of A Christmas Carol. I think that George C. Scott does a marvelous job at portraying Scrooge, I think he's the best one as that character. There have been many versions, but for me, this is the best

I first saw this movie on Christmas morning on the WB channel in 2002 and I absolutely loved it. George C. Scott is a Wall Street version of Scrooge (the movie was made in the late '80s, I believe), but he's very good in the role. It's a very well made adaptation that stands the test of time. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys holiday movies. This is top notch.

The Charles Dickens Christmas Story comes alive on-screen and it’s truly a grand family viewing experience. The story-line is set in London, England – circa early 1800’s. David Warner [Bob Cratchit] as-well-as the rest of the Supporting Actors, backs-up George C. Scott’s [Ebenezer Scrooge], memorable performance turning this tale of Christmas into a must-see annual viewing event.

I was expecting more from George C. Scott playing Scrooge. The special effects weren’t that great for this 1984 movie. It reminded me of a play more than a movie.

I have seen Ailstair Sim’s Christmas Carol, Patrick Stewart’s Christmas Carol and George C. Scott’s Christmas Carol. George C. Scott brought about a sense of the cruelty of men who could care less of Christmas.

This classic tale never gets old. It has been told and retold over and over again. Just about every child knows the story, and the message. I had to add this dvd to my collection. These classic stories are great to watch with the family during Christmas.
