Love Working on a Large Screen
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Acer Aspire Vero is a great laptop for anyone wanting a Windows computer experience with a large Full HD screen. The Intel i7 processor and 16GB Memory allows for smooth operation of multiple apps at once. With the 15.6” screen, I’m able to see my graphics clearly for work. I also appreciate the efforts of sustainability that Acer has put into this machine and packaging. Battery life is pretty good thanks to the VeroSense battery management app. As I write this, I’m at 72% battery with approximately 4 hours 20 minutes of battery time remaining. I’ve used this laptop for general use for about an hour every day for a week and I’ve charged it twice. The VersoSense app is automatically installed and has multiple modes for optimizing the computer's performance based on what you’re doing. The charging cable length is fine, although it’s a little shorter than some of my other laptop charging cables, I could potentially get a longer power cable if I needed. When the computer is asleep, startup only takes about 10 seconds so I’m glad I can just open up the laptop and get to work. The fingerprint feature is very convenient as well, although it’s in the top left corner of the trackpad and I wish it was placed off to the side somewhere. The keyboard backlight does turn off a little too quickly for my liking but it lights right back up with the touch of a button so it’s not a dealbreaker by any means and I’m sure it helps reduce battery power. One of the eco-friendly features of this laptop is the PCR (post consumer recyclate) material on the laptop itself and the included soft case. The keyboard clicks feel just right and the “OceanGlass” touchpad is very smooth. The overall design is interesting as it’s got speckled bits of yellow and gray which matches the soft case exactly. I was honestly surprised that the soft case was included as I’ve never received a laptop that included this in the box - great plus! There’s plenty of connectivity opportunities for the Aspire Vero as it comes with a USB-A input, 3.5mm audio input, and a Kensington lock slot on the left side. The right side has the charging port, two Thunderbolt USB-C inputs, an HDMI input, and another USB-A input. Most of my external SSDs come with a USB-C cable which makes transfers go by faster. It would have been nice to have an SD card slot - this being one of the bigger laptops I have, I almost expected it to have one. Overall, this is a great laptop with good battery life, a large crisp screen, and good processing power. I’m very pleased with this laptop and am looking forward to using it for work and leisure.

STOPPED WORKING WITHIN A WEEK
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The trackpad stopped working within 4 days. Then the keyboard. Took to geeksquad and they "fixed it." It was drivers software. It stopped working again the same night. This laptops costs too much to take a risk like this. I am returning tomorrow and getting a different brand. I would avoid this laptop and brand entirely.

Awesome "green" laptop!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Generally when you think of tech you don't see green and from the moment you unbox this laptop you'll notice a lot of things different. First, the packaging is all recyclable and second when you get the laptop out you'll notice it is possible to manufacture a high quality tech product out of some recycled material and a product that can be easily upgraded or repaired without sacrificing product quality. I love the finish of this laptop, it's unique and the feel is actually a nice feel to me. This laptop does not sacrifice in terms of speed and performance, where it has plenty of ram and processor speed to do all tasks you'd typically do on a PC for office, work and some light gaming. Keep in mind it doesn't have discrete graphics (it's not a gaming laptop) so it wasn't designed to run high end games but can run many simple games from the Windows App store just fine. The screen is bright and color is great. I like the small bezel and the nice touches added like the fingerprint reader and the backlit keyboard. Typing on it is nice and your palms don't hit the touchpad which is good. The key layout feels good and I was able to type normal on it without any issue. The sound is good and in line with what you'd expect from a laptop or tablet. For connectivity, integrated Wifi 6e is great offering the best speed when you connect to a Wifi 6e capable router. This laptop has a number of ports that are all great, USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 so you can easily expand high speed storage and plenty of regular USB 3.2 ports along with a full size HDMI port for connecting to a TV or display. Thunderbolt 4 makes it possible to connect to other displays or a dock to expand ports and charge at the same time. This should be a great laptop for the long term with is connectivity and user serviceable parts where it uses standard screws and components that can easily be changed. I'd recommend this and hope that more manufacturers start doing this with products, not just laptops but tablets and phones too.

Great Laptop!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the first time I’m experiencing a laptop that is totally built out of recycle materials, I’m glad Acer has even invested in this thought And made it a reality. The book quality is pretty good. This is a super light laptop and can be carried easily from one place to another. the green color Looks and feels very subtle with the grainy texture, and a rough feel to the hands. The package comes with the laptop pouch, which is very handy and useful. I wish they had provided a case for the charger wire as well. Set up to less than 10 minutes to get windows up and running. The audio speaker quality is not great, but it is good enough for a an average person. The screen picture quality is amazing with a wide variety of colors. The keys felt very smooth and light and I love Typing on the laptop. The battery on this laptop on a full charge lasted for about four of us on a continues usage with video and multiple other running in the background. I did notice the laptop getting heated up a bit after about two hours but eventually the heat came down and back to normal. The performance of the laptop so far has been amazing with the i7 processor. Overall, I find a laptop to be amazing and I’m glad this is a true green laptop And I highly recommend this laptop to everyone.

Good laptop at a good price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first use of a Green Laptop. The specs alone are decent for a laptop. My kid was able to play Star Wars Squadrons and Farming Simulator on it without any difficulty. I was able to play emails and word documents on it. OK, I lie, I played some games as well! Lets talk Green. Packaging. There is a lot of cardboard in there. Sure it is all recyclable but it did seem a little much for me. The laptop feels different from the plastic used and not in a bad way. This feels like something roughed up texture wise. I am not concerned about getting a scratch on it or even a small gouge. The keys are nice and light on the fingers with ample room for comfortable typing. For some reason, Acer allows for charging through the USB-C port (albeit with a warning that it is low power charging) but did not use this as the primary charger. Instead there is a barrel port to use. In an effort to reduce waste, wouldn't it make sense to go the same way as a lot of laptops, tablets, phones and so many more things by using the USB-C standard? Nitpicking I know, but I have this included charger that takes up room because I use the USB-C I already have on the hub.

Sustainability and performance in one
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.More and more companies have taken the step towards eco friendly manufacturing. Acer computers have been great to me, as I’ve owned a few of their laptops for some time now. This includes gaming laptops as well. They’ve really become a world brand that is affordable and hard to beat. With the recent opportunity to give their new ACER ASPIRE VERO a try, I was excited to know that Acer is doing their part in environmental sustainability. Their use of recycled material for the manufacturing of the new ACER ASPIRE VERO is great, yet you still get the quality and’s affordability of an Acer product. I’ve used the ACER ASPIRE VEROon a daily basis and am happy with the performance. Battery life is good and performance is also really good. A big plus is the large screen that you get with the ACER ASPIRE VERO. The laptop is also lightweight for its size, AND you even get a sleeve with it. This is definitely a great laptop for a college student. I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the market for a new, budget friendly, laptop.

Your everyday Eco friendly laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Acer Vero laptop is your run of the mill mid tier everyday laptop that offers a smaller carbon footprint. The use of recycled plastics is very evident in the chassis build as it has a very thick and solid blow molded frame. And while it is very evident that Acer is trying to push towards a smaller footprint, this laptop may not be for everyone. One of the very first things out of the box i noticed the box is the design. This is defiantly one of the thicker laptops i own but aside from that the plastic chassis gives that recycled look right away. Its basic, plain and simple. In my personal eyes it stood out, but stood out more as a eye sore. Im all for doing whatever we can to help leave a better place for our kids but that doesn't mean we have to sacrifice style. The keys are made of recycled plastic as well with a simplistic back light for those of us that work into the late hours. The 'R' and 'E' keys are reversed as a reminder to the "Recycle, Reduce, Reuse" mantra. Since i type at about 60 wpm i never look down at my keys anyways however for those of you OCD people just keep in mind those two letters stand out. Aside from the looks lets jump into how it performs. Brightness off the bat is very dull, and even with settings amped up and maxed out the display seems to just lack brilliance. Luckily performance is not hindered or held back. The intel I7 is actually very solid and able to easily handled most demanding task i throw at it. Streaming multiple platforms such as Spotify and Google Meets is handled with ease and low temps. Temps hovered right around 68°f throughout all cores and even while presenting videos temps never exceeded 70°f. Battery life is a different story with most full charges only yielding about 6 hours of run time with average settings. Can you game on this? Sure, although thats not what it is intended for. You can run most triple A games at medium settings with no issues and temps around 75°f. All in all this is a standard mid-level laptop geared for those in mind looking to make a smaller imprint on the environment. If you fall in to this category and are looking for a way to show your support while still being able to doing your daily needs then this set up is right for you. The price point is very fair considering the hardware that this laptop comes with. If 'STYLE' and performance is more your thing then id stay clear of this laptop.

Good green laptop if you temper expectations
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using the Acer Vero laptop for several days now and have been mostly impressed but have a few small concerns. I like the fact that Acer has developed a much more Earth-friendly laptop with environmentally sound packaging, but I must say I was a bit skeptical that such a machine would be worth having in real-world situations. Honestly, I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how capable this laptop is. The specs are not out of this world, but they are decent and are more than sufficient for basic home computing. This obviously isn’t a gaming or heavy production PC but it can easily handle the typical day-to-day tasks of most households. The screen isn’t incredibly bright (and is not a touchscreen) but it is crisp and clear enough that it’s not a big deal and color reproduction is very good. The keyboard is responsive but can sometimes feel like it has a little more flex than I prefer. The reversed letters on the R and E keys are a bit tough to get used to but they are intended to remind you of the eco-conscious theme of this laptop. It’s really more of an irritation point for me, but that’s a personal preference, I guess. Having a full number pad on a laptop this size is a welcomed plus for me. The Oceanglass trackpad has a good smooth feel and is very responsive. There is a fingerprint reader in the top left corner of the pad, which initially seemed like an odd place for it but after using it, the position makes sense and is easy to use. Battery life is ok in my experience but not anything to write home about. And on that topic, I’m questioning why they chose to put a USB-C port that doesn’t allow charging is beyond me. You have to use the included charger or you’re out of luck. There also isn’t a LAN port so it’s wireless or nothing, unless you want to buy a separate dongle. In spite of these little inconveniences and irritations, this really isn’t a bad machine, especially if you’re looking for a new computer that reduces your environmental impact. Now, Windows 11 is a totally different story, but that isn’t Acer’s fault…

A good ecofriendly laptop!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Right off the bat, I love what the Acer Aspire Vero is trying to do. Acer is incorporating greener practices and recycled materials into this line. Starting from the packaging, the box is made from recyclable packaging and is also recyclable. There is cardboard packaging in lieu of plastic packaging such as around the charging brick. The plastic bag is made from recycled materials. I feel like these practices could be extended to all mainstream products and not just the green Vero line. The laptop itself is made from recycled plastics. I believe the quoted number is 40% PCR (post-consumer recycled plastic). The only thing that gives it away is if you look closely, it appears to have bits and pieces almost embedded into the plastic. It does not take away from the aesthetic at all, and, if anything, I actually really like how it looks. Regardless of whether or not the look appeals to you, it would not mean anything if the material is crap. Happily, I have to say that the build quality feels decent. The chassis feels nice and sturdy. It's got good port selection as you can see. Jumping straight into the user experience, the screen is unfortunately not great. The brightness is about 300 nits and it shows. It is perfectly fine in indoor use but any sort of sunlight and I was struggling. The color accuracy was fine. The battery life is great. I was easily getting 10-15 hours with light streaming and browsing. The keyboard isn't bad and feels fairly responsive for a mid-tier laptop. The trackpad was actually great and felt good to use. All in all, the Acer Aspire Vero is a good laptop for those looking in the mid-tier department while also trying to maintain a greener standard.

Not What I Expected
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I liked the idea of this unit using recycled/refreshed materials. But when I got it, I was disappointed. Yes, this unit is made with recycled/refreshed materials and that's great. The reason for my disappointment came from the look and feel of the unit. The unit doesn't feel sturdy and it's made with one color for the panels and another for the hinge in the back. To me, it looks like someone did a repair job and used mismatched parts. I just don't care for it. Then there's the fingerprint scanner. It's located as part of the trackpad and I don't know why. Again, it seems like someone did a bad repair job and just popped that little thing right there when they could have put it as a button on the top row. Then there's the keyboard itself. It looked great until I noticed that the R and E are backwards. I honestly thought there was a mistake until I researched further and found out that Acer did it intentionally as a nod to the recycled/refreshed theme. It does come with a sleeve which is nice. Overall, the laptop works great. The screen is nice and bright. But I can't get past the feel when I hold it and use it. It's just not what I expected in this unit.

Am now a loyal customer of Acer.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.By far the best laptop I’ve owned. I have 4 laptops and this beats them all. Super fast. Keyboard is amazing, soft and quiet. Perfect screen size. It also comes with a nice case. The only thing I’m not a fan of is the power source the male connector. It’s a bit clunky! Overall it’s not really a big deal and shouldn’t stop you from buying this laptop. You won’t be disappointed!
