Sufficient upgrade for my dad's 5 year-old remotely-hacked laptop (also an Acer). Easily a 4/5 star product because of the fact that a screen this big should be at least a 1080p AND for the original price point of almost 550 dollars (bought this on sale for 300), it should have at least 16 gb of RAM, never minding the Core i3 it came with and the measly 256 gig SSD it has. Webcam is from 15 years ago and speaker barely puts anything out. Just use a separate webcam and portable speakers if need be. I'm just glad that it was easily upgraded with of the multiple SODIMM RAM sticks I have lying around from an HP Omen gaming laptop, an upgrade that made this laptop instantly snappier and more capable even with multiple tabs and multimedia running on Chrome. Pictures attached herein shows the internals where one can upgrade the RAM stick, SSD and what I believe is an HDD bay also. Will recommend this for moms and pops at around the price point that I got it for.
One final thing; DO NOT use this laptop without its charger with you and an outlet available nearby. You will barely get anything done on its atrocious battery life. When you open this laptop and look inside, you'll see why.

The quality, and overall performance of this Acer Aspire 3 Laptop is outstanding!! This is a 15.6 Full HD Display, with Windows 11. It has 4GB Ram, and 128 GB of storage. This has a little weight to it, but it's not heavy. The bottom has grip pieces on each corner to prevent this from sliding off of anything. Which I really like, and they work great!! When setting this up, it was a breeze! It walks you through each step, and only took about 5 minutes to complete. The mouse pad on this is amazing!! I love that it's bigger, which made it so much easier to navigate, and use. As well as, the back being elevated, that is a huge help too! The picture quality is excellent, very clear. Sound quality is great, could be a little louder, but fine for what I need it for. I got this for working from home, documents, picture, videos, gaming, and homeschooling my boys. This does all of that perfectly! I haven't had any issues with it lagging, or freezing. The speed on this one is terrific! Also, this has faster wireless connection, which works great as well! Next, this has three different USB ports, two on one side, one on the other. There is an HDMI, and internet connection. Plus, a spot to connect headphones. This also has Bluetooth connection too. I really like that it has a variety of options to choose from. Another feature I like with this is, it has focus assistance. So, you can set that to focus on certain things, and for it to notify you. I also want to mention, the battery life is the best! I've never had a laptop battery last nowhere near as long as this one does. Lastly, I have one con that I'd like to see changed. When I first tried to charge this, it wouldn't charge. It would start charging for about 30 seconds, and then stop. If you unplug the charger from the outlet and try again, it would do the same thing. If you unplugged it from the laptop, and tried again that way, it wouldn't do anything. I had to go on and do a bunch of updates before this would charge. I don't care for that, because if this needs charged before doing the updates, you're not going to be able to charge it. Therefore, it's not going to work. I'd really like to see that redone. Luckily, this was charged enough to download, and install the updates. Other than that, I really like this laptop. It's absolutely perfect for what I need it for, and works incredibly well! I would still recommend giving it a try, and going from there. Because the performance is honestly terrific! Plus, it comes with a one year warranty. Updating this review, I've had this for about 4 months now and luckily I haven't had anymore issues with it charging or updating.

Works great for what i need it for. Mainly just some light browsing and paying my bills. I do play some Guild Wars on it and it works just fine. The sound is terrible unless you use headphones and the camera is pretty bad, but i never use the camera anyway. I really just wish the keys were lit. I do like that it has the number pad. I love the wase of pausing and restarting shows/music and turning up/down the volume with the touchpad. Pretty nifty.

Got a bad one. Appears to be defective hard drive. PC will not recover. All in less than 12 hours after opening. Bummer, seemed like a decent basic machine.

I purchased this computer for an older relative who wanted something to do basic websurfing tasks with - visiting websites, playing simple internet games, watching Youtube, etc. Setting up the computer was easy and relatively fast. (As a tip, you can avoid creating a Mircosoft account during setup by turning on airplane mode so wifi is disabled and backing out of the option to make the account.) The large screen size is a plus, and the computer itself is fairly lightweight, which is nice. For people who live in old houses/apartments, the power cord has three prongs instead of two. As for actually using the machine, it runs well. I set up an antivirus and a different web browser with some add-ons, and there have been no hiccups so far in terms of speed. My relative is able to view Youtube/Netflix and the like with no issues, and plays games on various websites just fine. The keys are large and have good visual contrast, making it easy to see what you're pressing. The computer has been quiet so far, which is good. Overall, it's a nice computer for simple tasks. As long as you're not trying to stream on twitch/Youtube or play the newest PC games, you'll be fine. It's a good computer for students and non power-users. It's also a good price if you can catch it on sale.

I was hesitant to buy a cheap laptop with an i3. I purchased this for school because I was tired of using a slow desktop as my main computer. I was very surprised at how fast this is and how well it works. The keyboard is nice to type on, the screen size is awesome, and the battery life is ok. The viewing angle for the screen isn’t that great, but for school use and occasional movies, it actually isn’t too bad. The battery life could be a little better, but this still gets me through several hours of use. I like that there is an option to upgrade the ram and just enough storage for school purposes. There are plenty of ports for all of my uses including HDMI and Ethernet port. It’s rare to see these these days since a lot of companies go for who can make the thinnest laptop and not the most practical. Even with these ports, this laptop is not bulky or too think. I would recommend this for students or for a decent laptop for use at home without spending above $400.

First off I would like to say check the size on this bad boy because 17.3” laptops are massive, I saw the price first ( on deal ) and was wowed by the specs and price. That being said this is a solid laptop for anyone who needs good computing power outside of just surfing the web and sending emails. I loaded Photoshop and Lightroom onto it and they run smoothly even with 8GB of ram ( you can upgrade up to 20GB, 4GB internal and 16GB Stick ) I also downloaded Davinci Resolve on this too, I’m waiting for the Ram to get here but I think I should be able to edit videos on this as well! The display is nice and nothing bad to say about it, the keyboard is just as wild as the screen which kinda sucks as laying in bed with this is a bit hard unless you’re sitting above the keyboard. In all 17.3” is too big for most tasks but should offer benefits to those who need a larger screen for editing and creative work

I had to have my son help me set up a few things. I am still getting use to the keyboard being shifted to the left with the extra number grid on the right [I am old school and don't use them]. Hence, I am mistyping things unless the light is on to see the keyboard. The mousepad is touchy that I have to be to the far left or I get a pop up menu that I don't need. After being on Facebook, YouTube, and reading emails for several hours daily, I am finding that this drains quickly. The charging cord was touchy and had to be exactly right the 1st few times or it wouldn't charge but seems to be behaving. I appreciate the large screen for my aging eyes. I bought this w/o researching reviews. I had a budget in mind and basic needs so thought I would give it a try. I wish the speakers were on the top to hear better. So far it is meeting my needs but touchy sometimes. I have only been using this about 2 weeks so far.

For a low-cost Windows 11 laptop from a major manufacturer, I am very pleased.
My old Windows 8.1 Acer was nearing the point where Microsoft would end support, plus the ten-year-old processor was slow, the 4G of memory was not adequate.
This machine is faster (CPU, GPU & memory) plus 8G of memory, and the 17-inch screen.
Only shortfall is no touch screen, but I don't really need that feature.
The system was up quickly, I loaded all my pet programs and everything was smooth and quick.
Thank you Acer and Microsoft for a great blend of hardware and software.

Excellent laptop with everything you need. You are not paying for all the bells and whistles. Excellent entry laptop with expendable memory. Its much lighter than you would expect for a 17 in screen laptop. The processor seems spiffy enough for routine work.

This machine combines a number of desirable features - large screen, but still low weight,, fast start, good picture quality.
The last time I bought a 17" screen, Windows 10 laptop, it's Realtek audio was poor, so I added an external sound system.
I use the Acer for language teaching and learning, so sound quality is very important.
Windows 11 has new features that I have not mastered so I am not able to comment on now.
One thing I find slightly annoying is that on the touch pad, you have to stay to the left edge. If you move even slightly to the right, it assumes that you are right-clicking.

Boots fast, nice smooth mouse touch pad, sharp rich colors on non-glare screen, easy to use keyboard, long battery life and good looking.
Works very well on WIFI with YouTube and Netflix. Runs cool. Very pleased with whole system.
