What impressed me is that this "value" level laptop has the I-5 turbo processor and the newer DDR-4 ram. I increased ram putting 16gb in second slot and purchased a solid state drive for it. Windows 10 boots up in less than 10 seconds. Now it is a "Great" value level laptop. My only criticism is the graphics; it seems like I can never get the contrast - brightness balances nice and clear like I like.

I was looking for a good computer to use photoshop and video editing. Needed a laptop for work and I mostly use it for photos and videos I take with my drone. It was critical that it had a good processor and video card. This computer has the i5 Intel core and that is one of the best for someone who primarily deals with photo and videos. Plenty of storage and ram but a little on the slow side. I have been pleased for the most part and other than the lack of speed it's been amazing for the low price. Everything else in its class was twice as much. Maybe that's why it's slow but I will take the trade off any day of the week.mif your looking for a computer that can deal with anything photo or video related , then this is one of the best deals out there.

Pros: -Good battery life -Light weight -Nice screen and classy back design -Fast enough, adequate storage (for a grad student) -Price ($350 before taxes) Cons: -Trackpad glitchy (often have to click on right 1/4 inch of pad to right click) -Adaptive brightness is annoying and is still active after turning it off (when on a dark/black screen it blinks several times until the screen is dimmer, vice versa for a light/white screen) -Sound comes from bottom, muffling it badly on your lap/ table -Keyboard feels/sounds hollow -Delete button and arrow keys are poorly positioned and small -Very poor quality camera Overall, 3 stars. Would recommend to a friend on a tight budget who doesn't mind glitches; but wouldn't have purchased if I could afford better quality.

I got this laptop just looking at its specs . It seemed to be a good bet for the deal 370$ . It has good sound , display , customizable ddr4 memory . Also it has almost all connectors *on earth* you don't need to carry any cords to mix and match i/p's or o/p's . Has a good processor . I am using ubuntu on it so it has a pretty good speed with the default config . The only problem I have noticed till now is when I connect it with a bluetooth speaker the wifi doesn't work properly . I don't know if it is the problem with my speaker BT radio or with the one in the laptop . Except that it is a good one for the price .

This product was a tale of two experiences. I was looking for an upgrade from my Samsung netbook that's now several years old--maybe 6 or 7? It's on XP and doesn't have the horsepower to support W10. I put an SSD into it, which helped, but that Atom processor just can't handle much work any more. The first of these Acer Aspires that I took home would not boot up at all. After several tries, it eventually could not even find the HDD so I took it back to best buy within about 3 hours. We started the second one in the store, and it got to being ready to start Windows, so I took it home and finished the installation without incident. With the stock configuration, this machine is only marginally satisfactory. The 4GB of RAM is not enough and the thing was dog slow doing even simple tasks. Task manager said that 100% of the disk capability was being used. Good news is that another 4GB of RAM is only about $25 so I added that and saw immediate improvement. Clearly, the next upgrade will be an SSD, but I may wait until the 1TB version of a bit lower in price. But with that upgrade this laptop will be pretty darn good. The last thing that is worth mentioning is the battery life. Initially, it sucked--maybe 2 hours. However, after cycling it all the way to shutoff a few times, which recalibrated it, I now get about 5-6 his, which for my purposes is fine. Bottom line is that this machine is not a heavy gaming computational machine out of the box, but it CAN be future progress a little bit, which for me is important.

I wanted to get a laptop as a supplement to our desk-top computer so I wouldn't have to always go upstairs to check mail, etc. I don't need the super-best, most current product out there; just something that's reliable. I am extremely pleased with my 2-yr old ACER desktop so I went with them for this purchase too...and there have been NO surprises. It is fast, it is sleek, the keyboard has a very responsive 'feel' to it as does the mouse-pad. Best Buy store matched their online price for me and I got this for a very good price. This model may be in the process of being replaced for a newer version so it would be good to hunt for this while they are still available but regardless, I would definitely recommend the ACER brand for reliability.

System has decent specs for the cost. Did come loaded with a bunch of trial garbage from Wild Tanget and others, trial antivirus, and trial Office. After removing those and running standard cleaning software to scrub the registry (CC Cleaner, Spybot), system runs as expected. Not the best quality construction. Monitor greyed out a couple times and I nearly returned it. Seems to take longer than normal to boot for the specs of the system, but that may just be a "Windows 10" thing .. Microsoft was never known for making things run efficient/well and every retail vendor / supply chain dogs systems down with their own bloat. A clean install of "just Windows" may fix boot and login times. Would be a good laptop for running Linux due to the hardware. Due to system size, may be a little large for a hs kid or someone without a laptop sleeve built into their backpack. Doesn't feel particularly heavy compared to a standard "office model" Dell or other brand though, but no where near as nice as a Mac. Could really do without all the pre-loaded junk though, or there should be simple one-click method for both removing it all and either immediately creating a clean restore DVD (with option to skip the bloated junk) or doing a clean install without the "free" extras.

I make this purchase based on price. It has satisfied my needs. Not a gamer or streamer so I didn't need or want the fastest tool in town. Simple word processing, spreadsheets, email and light internet surfing is handled with easy. More disk storage than the average user will ever use. My only complaint would be the placement of the power on/off switch. Poor location in my opinion. Acer placed it were every laptop I've owned has the delete key. For the price, you'll be satisfied .

Bought it for 349$ (before taxes) at BestBuy. A computer with these features should cost at least 30% more. Couldn't find any other model from any manufacturer with these feature for even close price, so bought 3 (for wife and daughter too) right away. You should keep in mind that the 4GB RAM that comes with it will most probably be insufficient for your needs (unless you're using really really few apps at a time). So you should definitely consider an addition of 8GB (or 2X8GB RAM replacing the 4GB, in my case) to make sure you forget about memory issues. It'll still be great deal! *** NOTE! *** 1.) BEFORE adding/replacing the RAM make sure with your dealer that your warranty will not be voided. (It would probably won't, because I checked, but just to make sure) 2.) Make sure the new RAM is DDR4 and with the correct frequency Enjoy

This is a good, home user laptop. I say home user because im not sure how well it would stand up to a lot of travel. I will say, that i did almost return it because it was very slow at boot up and in and out of apps, but after adding 4 more gig of RAM for a total of 8, it performs pretty well now. Some pros: With the i5 and 8 gig of ram, its a pretty quick laptop. I have a i7 with 8 gig for my other laptop and although it is faster, its not significant for everyday uses. Keyboard is nice and its not too heavy for that size laptop lots of ports, USB, VGA, HDMI etc, and i do like the fact that it has a DVD drive. They are becoming more uncommon and do come in handy sometimes. Cons: A bit flimsy but again, it a >$400 i5 laptop... Camera refresh rate is not good. Choppy skype video. Not a show stopper for me, but some use video more than me. screen is a bit dim compared to my other laptop, but again, im comparing a $400 to a $1800 laptop. Overall, good value and hopefully it will last for a while.

I bought this for my grandmother on her birthday because her old laptop was old and out of date. The reason why I am giving 4 stars is because the hard drive really does suck, but I upgraded it to an SSD and the ram because 4gb of ram is childs play. Nice build quality not the best but not bad.

The battery I had for the toshiba satellite I had for over 5 years had stopped charging and it was also overheating. I considered getting it fixed, but didn't have the time. So I went in search for an economical buy, with a newer processor, big screen, and I also still use dvd drive. This was my pic. Material doesnt seem the sturdiest, but at this price I can't complain. Plus I take care of my things so that shouldn't be a big deal. Ofcourse I had to uninstall some of the bloatware... I think there's still some more that can be removed by I dont want to uninstall the wrong things. So because of that I think it could be a little faster, but it has improved with some stuff removed. I was spoiled with the battery life from the toshiba.... this acer's battery goes for about 3 hours ++, depending on what I'm doing. Streaming media etc, will definitely cut the charge. Overall I'm satisfied with my purchase, but if I didn't know how to uninstall and tweak some other stuff then I'd be annoyed by the performance.

I bought this laptop for replacement of my old laptop. Speed, not the best but good. Processor is pretty good. 2.3ghz Intel Core i5-6200U. I would say this runs fast. Its lightweight which is plus. Weighs less than 5lbs. Battery life I say its average. Display, could be better. I say 3 out of 5. I would recommend this for sure. But I also recommend customizing it. It upgrade up to 32gb memory ram. You can also install solid state drive if you wish.

Bought this for my daughter to use in high school. I liked it because of the features and (the then) latest technology - DDR4 memory, latest gen Core i5, etc. She has not used some of the audio features the system touts, but overall is has proven to be a solid and stable system. I would recommend it to friends.

Great laptop for the price. NOt the fastest machine in the world but it does the job for your basic browsing, watching movies, etc. I am a network engineer and use it in the field for connecting to routers, switches and other equipment and so long as I keep the machine clean of any unwanted adware/malware it runs great! I did have to attempt a factory reset at one point due to a virus infection I had but the system failed to revert back to it's original state and I ended up having to reinstall windows 10 using an installation disk from another machine that came with the actual OEM disk. The reinstall went through without a hitch and I didn't evenhave to enter in any windows keys as it recognized them automatically.

I receive the laptop and work fine but is slow, have a toshiba i3 ( gen 4) wich is more faster than this acer i5, i was uninstall defaults apps from windows 10 and now run in a better speed but still is not faster as other i5 laptops we use. Anyway feel good, the screen is in good resolution, the keyboard is softly and work well, work great to rip my cd's, is really faster to do. The dvd drive get stuck, is difficult to open and need a clip to open it, the battery is very good, lot of work time without need to charge again the battery. i will install an extra 8 gb memory to increase speed. good laptop to work in home, little details and i think the speed is related to the bunch of windows 10 apps.

The trend is going away from laptops. I have an IPad, Kindle and a smartphone, but sometimes you really need a laptop. This laptop fits that need. It has a powerful enough processor and large enough screen to allow you to do most non power user tasks. Windows 10 runs fine with 4 Gb of memory, but would run better with 8 Gb. The keyboard takes a little time to get used to, but doesn't have feel that would be unfamiliar to Acer users. Three USB ports allow you to use a mouse if you don't like the track pad. The hard drive is more than adequate for most users. This laptop isn't exceptional in any area, but it is perfect for someone looking for a good basic laptop.

Presentation/Availability: Product was well packaged with no broken/opened box. There were many available at the store. Performance: Easy to setup, just follow the on-screen instructions (NOTE: internet access is required for completing the setup, without it, you cannot do it). Setup process took almost 30 minutes due to the downloadable content that is required to setup 100%. Once setup, I haven’t experienced any issues with it. It is very fast and perfect for multitasking even through a Wi-Fi connection. It has a CD-RW/DVD-RW, which is perfect for my needs. Is light in weight. Customer service: Very good customer service. I was greeted by an employee as soon as I walked through the door and helped me to contact the correct employee at the right area for getting my product, which I did quickly.

So I got this laptop for the sole purpose of writing scripts and testing applications. I was looking for a notebook with an i5 processor and at least 4G of ram so I could go back and install different Linux distros. Took me a minute to get around all the bios security locking it to Windows (ongoing pet peeve of mine with the new UEFI BIOS but that's for a different time) It's a little bulky for what's actually in it. Sounds a bit hollow when typing. I grabbed it up as a deal of the day where it was around $200. Not a bad laptop by any means. It works and at that price with a gen-6 i5?! Yeah I definitely couldn't fight that. If you're a basic user looking for a cheap laptop that'll get you around the interwebs, this will do it. If you're looking for a cheap test machine as I was, it works wonderfully.
