The Acer Iconia One 10 tablet is truly a great tablet for someone that is on a budget. It is a slick looking tablet that doesn't feel too cheap.
The Iconia One 10 tablet is fairly lightweight and isn't too bulky to carry around. I feel that this is definitely a tablet that can be used for college, as it comes with Microsoft Word, Excel, etc... The screen is significantly large and easy to look at. If you are looking for a budget friendly tablet for school, look no more.
The tablet comes equipped with a Micro SD card slot, but no card included. Expanding memory is a must, so I do recommend a card if you do plan on taking notes and using the tablet for school. It does have a crisp clear image, so it's easy on the eyes. You also have a Data transfer port by the card slot. I first thought that there was no memory expansion option, as the card slot is neatly tucked away above the back camera, so it is there.
As for the performance, it's no iPad by far, but it is a really good alternative. You have access to the google play store, so there are tons of apps available for the tablet. I haven't had it freeze on me yet, so I am hoping that this won't be an issue later down the road. It does come pre-fitted with many apps that you most likely won't have any use for, so you can go ahead and delete those to clear up more space. The picture quality is by far not the best, so don't plan on using for this purpose.
One big downside is that the audio isn't great. If you plan on watching movies on this tablet, get yourself a good set of headphones. I was disappointed by this because I was so use to good quality sound from my iPad.
For the price, you get a pretty decent tablet. It's a slick looking tablet that would definitely work for college. I use it for note taking, and school related work. You should definitely pick up a Micro SD card so that you can avoid filling up all of the memory in the tablet.
I would recommend this tablet to anyone that is in the market for a budget friendly tablet.

This is the second one I purchased, the first one had a shaddered screen. This one I have problems getting apps to work, install and the tablet is constantly overheating. I have an appointment with the Geek Squad, but I will probably be returning this tablet instead. Not worth the frustration level to own this. This is the 2nd Acer that I have had so I can say their products Don't Waste Your Money!!!.

This tablet is fine if you're not expecting too much out of it. Everything about it is simply acceptable.
Screen: the screen is not very sharp, and the colors aren't very vibrant, but it is serviceable for web-browsing as images tend to show up fairly clearly. I wouldn't use it for extended reading, however, as the text tends to appear a bit blurry.
Speakers: there is always a bit of distortion with the speakers. I don't know if it is just the tablet I have, or if it is all of this model, but with playing music or watching videos on YouTube, there is always some static.
Battery: I have only put the tablet through light use, but would estimate that the battery will last for about 3 days at a time under such conditions (WiFi on, occasionally looking at email, an hour or two of web browsing each day).
Build: the tablet itself feels fairly solid. It looks nice, and doesn't creak or flex. The back is a textured plastic which feels very grip-y, but may not be everyone's cup of tea.
Camera: I don't care much about the functionality of a tablet camera, but this one doesn't have very good resolution. Full disclosure, I only took a couple of pictures and looked at them on the tablet's admittedly sub-optimal screen. It is possible that they would be clearer on a better screen, but I don't know anyone who uses a tablet as a primary camera, so I don't care enough to test it out.
Software: If you've ever had any Acer product, you know that they have their own suite of software and apps to load on to any device. These can all be disabled or uninstalled.
They did put one nice feature into Android, however. The blue light from electronics screens is known to mess with circadian rhythms (prevent falling asleep). They added a built-in blue-light filter that you can toggle on/off from the drop-down menu. This is a nice feature.
They also made a rather unusual tweak to the volume rocker. The side that is + and the side that is - will switch based on holding the tablet in portrait or landscape. It is very odd to have this, though there is some underlying logic. Holding the tablet in portrait, the + side is facing up. Holding the tablet in landscape makes the button on the right side the +, following the slider that appears when you press the volume buttons.
Overall, a reasonable tablet for someone not expecting too much.

The 2016 Acer Iconia One 10 definitely makes some sacrifices to reach its price point, but it's certainly a worthy choice for customers looking to stay within a budget and who like the Android ecosystem. Still, for anyone with a larger budget, I would definitely recommend spending more to get a tablet with better longevity
The build quality is reasonably sturdy. The shell is made of plastic, but it does not flex or creak much at all. The back has a textured surface that makes it easy to grip. The micro SD card slot, and the cover for it, were lower quality, however. (It was slightly difficult to insert the card in a way that made sufficient contact to be read, though once it was fully inserted it felt secure.) Beside the micro SD slot is a pretty unique feature - a 2nd micro USB connector that can be used for USB OTG devices. This 2nd USB port does not support charging the tablet, but that is not a big detriment.
Android 6 (Marshmallow) is installed, and Acer's customizations are relatively light. They've added some typical manufacturer-specific apps for Acer's own cloud service, and replaced the Google Now screen. I have not used these Acer-specific apps, and they have no benefit to me over the other cloud services I already use. However, there are also some more useful apps preinstalled, like the official Microsoft Office apps for Android as well as an activity center app for kids. Acer deserves some kudos for supporting the Android "adoptable storage" feature on the Iconia One, which is very convenient for making use of a Micro SD card for storage expansion.
The overall system responsiveness exceeded my expectations. It's not the fastest Android device available, but loaded apps pretty quickly and didn't stutter much. It only has 1 GB of RAM, but I never really encountered slowdown from apps closing and relaunching. (Acer does have a utility installed helps closely monitor memory usage and can try to reclaim unused memory.) The Chrome browser performed quite well, even with the constrained RAM. The Wi-Fi connection is very stable, and battery life is quite acceptable (though my older Nexus 9 still lasted longer).
Be aware that there are some downsides/limitations on this tablet. First of all, the screen has a pretty low resolution. It doesn't look bad, but is very "fuzzy" compared to any of the nice high-resolution screens that most smartphones have now. Second, I am disappointed that Acer did not include the latest Android 7 (Nougat) system, and I found no annoucement or hint that this would be coming in an update anytime soon. I expect that this tablet will be another victim of poor software update support, which is unfortunately par for the course amongst Android manufacturers. Finally, Acer seems to have disabled the multi-user support, which is one of the nice advantages of an Android tablet in the first place, and a feature I would've liked to use.
In the end, the low price makes up for a lot of the shortcomings. I think most people would be happier with a higher-end tablet, but for the money you could certainly do much worse than this tablet. I would recommend it to anyone whose budget matches the price.

It's a good value tablet. For the retail price, it performs pretty well. I am used to high end tablets, this one has a cheap case, has a soft resolution screen (not that sharp) but performance-wise, will do any regular person good. I'm used to stock android too-- this one hardly has any add ons, that's a plus. It has a blueshield filter built-in (that blue light that tells your brain to not sleep), it's pretty good too. The volume switch-- I have not encountered this in ANY device-- it changes orientation depending on the rotation: if it's rotated sideways, the volume up is always to the right, regardless of position; if it is vertical, the volume up is always on top, no matter what. Simple things like these, are quite thoughtful coming from a value machine. Oh I dropped it too accidentally, no scratch whatsoever. It has a slot for expanding storage and it's hidden pretty well within the design. It's not as responsive, requires a little more patience to operate, like it won't be up right away when you press the power button but when it's on, it's' consistent. Games-wise, it's a little jittery at times but I was only playing light games on it-- like Plants vs. Zombies. Speakers are not phenomenal, but it's a tablet, what do you expect. Overall I will buy this as gifts to people, not for my personal use (just because I have a personal preference for high quality), but still you will get smiles on people's faces. Afterall, it's still a tablet, you can still read email, shop and surf articles with ease (especially with the size and considerable light weight of the tablet), and it will perform 95% of the tasks of regular users.

I purchased this low end tablet for my mother to basically play offline games on and it was a total disappointment. First it wouldn't come on. Once it did things went well for about two days and it shut itself down and had the same issue as in the beginning with not turning back on again. I expected more from this brand.

The Acer Iconia 10.1 Android tablet is a basic, inexpensive tablet for regular consumer use. It's good for watching movies, email, social media and such. It's running Android 6.0 with Wi-Fi and BT.
It has a textured plastic back, which makes it easy to grip along with wider bezels on the left and right side of the screen when holding it in landscape mode so that your thumbs don't inadvertently hit the touch screen. The screen is 1280 x 800 so the resolution is adequate but hardly compelling. This tablet has a 16:9 aspect ratio, which isn't as handy or useful using it in portrait mode. It feels a little long and narrow while holding it in portrait mode. Basically this gives you a wider, shorter screen when viewed in landscape mode. Of course, 16:9 has been a standard for some years, but it has been losing ground to 4:3 screens (think iPad & others) because the desktop area is a little more usable, and it's more comfortable to hold.
It has a forward facing speaker on each side of the screen for stereo sound. It's loud enough to be heard in a moderately noisy room. It has a slot for an sd card to increase the storage space above the 32 GB it comes with. It also has 2 mini-USB 2 ports: one for charging and one for attaching peripheral devices. It also has a front & rear camera for conferencing and shooting photos/video along with a headphone jack.
It has 1 GB of RAM, which is adequate but does little to give it a snappy feel. It does what you want it to, but in an average way. Of course, this is a $130 tablet so you're looking at the lower end tablet market here, and one shouldn't expect what much more expensive hardware provides.
Having said all that, this tablet gives value for the money. You can do most anything a tablet can usually do reasonably well for not much money. If you want a versatile, inexpensive tablet with a good range of capabilities, this one should be seriously considered.

First of all, let me start by saying if you are buying this tablet thinking its going to be like a high end tablet from you know who...you will be disappointed. I will be basing my review on what this tablet is. A budget tablet, that doesn't have tons of features, but at the same time will give you a fairly good experience on a 10" android tablet.
The first time I turned the tablet on I got an error message...so things did not start out so smoothly. I would expect a brand new tablet to fire up immediately without any problems. Once I got through the setup process (took about 10 minutes) I was at the home screen of the tablet. As expected, there was a lot of bloatware and shortcuts to websites and to download apps that I quickly deleted. I didn't install a ton of stuff on it, cause I just wanted to see how it performed. I played some YouTube videos, they streamed in HD (720) and looked respectable for a budget tablet. I played some music from some online streaming sites and the audio was honestly not very good. Very tinny, not very loud, and no real way to make it sound any better with EQ settings or anything like that. Plugging in headphones gives you a much better experience...although still not that great. The tablet did have lag moving around to different apps, probably because it only has 1GB of RAM in it. I would also expect a brand new tablet to be released with the latest version of Android, but I have a feeling this tablet will never be updated to Nougat (but don't quote me on that).
The build quality was OK. It feels like a solid tablet even though it is made completely out of plastic and the glass screen. The back of the tablet is textured so it gives you a little bit of grip so it doesn't fly out of your hand. The Micro SD card slot is a bit hard to find, you have to actually pop off the top part of the camera housing in order to get to it. I actually had to read the manual to find that!
Overall, it is a solid budget tablet. For the price point, it is a good value and should work very well for everyday tasks like searching the internet, email, watching movies or listening to music. I am honestly not a big gamer, so I didn't really test those capabilities. I will leave that for someone who knows more about it than I do. I would have liked to see a full 1080 resolution for a 10" tablet and at least 2 GB of Ram...but other than that...this is a good tablet for the money.

Acer - Iconia One 10 - 10.1 - Tablet - 32gb - White
I was curious to test out this new Acer Iconia One 10” tablet, as I had used an iPad some in the past, but never had tried an Android tablet. My wife just switched from a Windows phone to an Android, so I have become a little familiar with the Android OS.
My first impression was that this device had a nice feel – not as heavy as my old iPad2, but not flimsy feeling either. The screen is nice and bright, and seems fairly high-res. I don’t think it is quite as nice as the Retina screens, but then it is only $149 MSRP!
Acer does load some extra features that aren’t standard Android apps, and I’ll admit that none of them seemed that helpful. They can be removed if you want. It does come pre-loaded with the Microsoft Office Suite. Once I logged into my MS OneDrive account, I was able to access, open, and edit my documents. That is a great feature!
I tried streaming shows via Netflix and Hulu, and they all worked well. The picture was great with no hiccups, and the sound was good – but not great. Again, hard to complain at this price.
I was able to connect my Plantronics Bluetooth Legend earpiece, and it worked great for listening to the streaming shows. It also worked well for Skype calling.
Some apps did appear to launch a little slowly, but then again this doesn’t have the fastest processor available.
Overall – if you are looking for an Android tablet that can be used for web surfing, streaming, games, and even productivity apps like Word and Excel – this tablet is a great choice, especially in the “bang for the Buck” category!
