    Nice for a tablet

I have had various computers since the first ones that didn't require a whole room came out. This is my first tablet. This is also my first non windows device. (Full disclosure) The issue with most tablets is they don't stand up on their own. This one does come with a handy stand that I leave in my kitchen for cooking but that is not something I am likely to drag around with me. Yes, I know you can purchase a case that has a kick stand. But then you are as thick and bulky as a netbook which has both a keyboard, touch screen, and stays upright on its own. So in terms of the form factor if this is why you haven't purchased a tablet then you can pat yourself on the back. Ok, so you can hold it when you are surfing on the couch or laying in bed. The issue there is that when holding with one hand the bezel is not quite wide enough to keep my thumb from touching the screen which can be annoying. So, now on to features. This is my first device, other than my phone, with Bluetooth and I have to say it is nice to use my Bluetooth ear buds instead of wired ones. As for connectivity there isn't much. Just a USB port for charging and data transfer and a mini headphone jack for those pesky wired earphones or ear buds. So far that has not caused any issue as I am not looking to use a monitor or keyboard with this. I really wish there was a spot for an SD card. Even though all my data is safely in the cloud, there are times when it is handy to bring along copies when connectivity to the internet is not available. The picture is quite nice though I did encounter some buffering when streaming video when other WiFi devices in my house do not. One thing I thought was quite nice is the built in speakers. Not the same as my home theater but better than I expected and plenty loud too. The android operating system is taking me a bit to get used to but if you are already an android user with a google docs account etc, you will be right at home. That being said, I was able to get to what I needed within minutes. All in all, I am happy with the device. It has a good feel and is easy to use right out of the box.

I thought with 32g of memory, this would be a nice tablet. The operating system is unstable. The tablet freezes and has trouble running applications. Tried everything to help it work better - no such luck. Spend the money and go with Samsung.

    Disappointingly Slow

I have been an Apple user for many years now. Both my phones and tablets are Apple. I was looking for a cheap replacement for an old iPad that has slowing down in its old age. I thought an Android device like this would do the trick. I have never used an Android device before, so I thought I would give it a try. The price was certainly attractive, but I was disappointed in the performance. I'm not sure it is any faster than my old iPad. Pros -Good price -Front mounted Stereo speakers -32GB storage Cons -slow, even loading the keyboard when trying to type in Chrome -When not used, the battery does not last as long as I would expect. I don't use this device often, but every time I use it the batter seems to be dead. I would have given this device 4 stars if it wasn't so darn slow. The slowness really frustrates me. Otherwise it's would be a really good device for the price. A note for Apple users: As someone already integrated into the Apple ecosystem, it is really difficult for me to reach for this devices, because I can't just ready something off my reading list or look up something in my notes app. I do use Google Apps for documents, so there is no difference there, but I found myself using my old iPad in favor of this devices, due to iCloud and my familiarity with Apple devices. I may let my kids use this devices in time as they are not really using the iCloud.

The Iconia One 10 tablet was a pleasant surprise. It came well packaged, with very few papers, which I appreciated. The small instruction book had only 3 pages of necessary information that showed button and display descriptions as well as some basic how to instructions. The 10" display is wonderful (I have only had 7" tablets and this is a nice size for work, but still portable). The only problem I had during set-up was that a few of the apps that I choose to install did not complete, but that may have been due to the poor internet connection at my location. It came fully charged, and I brought it to a client's for note taking during our full-day meeting. Two more days later, it still has a 46% charge, so I am impressed with the battery length. It has an interesting Social Media display (swipe right from home screen) that you can connect with YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook. This displays the posts in an easy to read format. You can also view news and headlines through Discover Opera. I really like this feature as it is easy to scan the stories, and select the ones to read further details on. The access to both Microsoft and Google mobile apps is easy and convenient. If this device could hook up to my data plan, it would be perfect. But I can hot spot it with my phone.

Tablet has average specs & performance

This tablet has average specs and performance. It only has 1GB of RAM, which gets eaten up pretty fast. I find myself having to close out apps often when I'm not using them in order to clear up RAM. The screen is very basic. Not as crisp as a lot of higher priced tablets on the market. The front facing speakers do not get as loud as I had expected, and they have little to no bass. For the price it'll be a good enough tablet to get the job done for many.

    Nice adequate tablet

Let me start by saying I have MANY Apple products, including the iPad mini and iPad air. This product doesn't come close, but for the price I don't think it's in the same class so it would be unfair to compare. The screen resolution on this tablet isn't all that good. I would say it's adequate. The sound isn't crisp, it is adequate. The processor doesn't seem very fast resulting in a delay when moving from task to task. The enclosed micro to USB cable is way too short so that I could barely set it on a table to charge let alone use it while plugged in. Of course I could buy a longer cable, but why should I have to? It is a nice looking tablet and I think it's an updated model. I didn't experience any low memory issues I have seen others write about. The rear facing camera is enclosed by a nice looking silver clasp which covers the micro SD slot and another micro USB port. The camera quality, front and back is not stellar, but is adequate. The tablet was simple to get up and running out of the box. Battery life seems to be less than 24 hours with very little use. I had been wanting to try an Android product, and now that I have, I'm sticking with Apple which is a far superior product. However, if you're looking for an inexpensive, entry level tablet, this tablet would fill the bill.

When I got this tablet I was surprised. As a heavy user of Microsoft products and services, I was stoked to see that it had the Microsoft services that make me productive with technology available right there on the home screen. The device has great weight and balance, a good screen, and a good feel. It even comes with a stand to prop it up. Battery life is also pretty good, though I haven't used it at-length for watching movies just yet.

Low-end specs, poor performance, not a good buy

I’ve found that when pondering adding a tablet to your tech gadget repertoire, the most difficult question to answer is often “why:” Why do you need one? Why get a device that only does passably well what your laptop or phone already does? These questions hover around the notion of trying to determine what niche a tablet truly serves. I’m not saying that tablets don’t have a purpose; I’ve owned several of them across multiple brands and ecosystems. I have my opinions of what makes a good tablet, but most importantly, what makes a tablet good—and what makes it inferior to the rest. It is for this reason that the “value” tablet market is a puzzling one to me. If we forget for a few moments who is best served by value tablets, it would be practical to come up with a set of criteria around choosing one value tablet over another. In this case, the Acer Iconia One 10 is everything I expect out of a less-expensive, cheaply built, low-end tablet. The reality is, for whoever may be looking for a device like this one, the availability of inexpensive options, accompanied by lackluster specs, make for a very underwhelming tablet experience. Unfortunately, my impression of a “good” tablet is ruined by the likes of Apple’s iPad Pro and Microsoft’s Surface, or any of the smattering of higher-end Samsung Android tablets available at your local Best Buy. And because those higher-end tablets make for such a great experience, anything less is infuriating and a waste of time (and money). So, what you get out of the box with this one is among the lowest specs you can find: a 10.1” 1200x800 IPS display, 1GB of RAM, Android 6.0 pre-installed (with a little of Acer’s bloat-ware apps included), a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 32GB of onboard storage (expandable via Micro SD card), a front-facing 2MP camera paired with a 5MP rear-facing camera, and an 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless card with Bluetooth 4.0. It is literally the bare-minimum specs for anything that you should ever consider buying in this market. Upon start-up, I tried doing what you normally do with a phone or tablet: download Facebook, Imgur, a few of the other standard social media apps, and install those. And…it…was…HORRIBLE. It took forever! I rebooted device after the initial setup (which, for the record, took WAY too long for the under-powered processor and memory), and finally got Facebook installed—but quickly gave up on that because the 1200x800 display doesn’t really give me a good experience with whatever Tasty video I was trying to watch on Facebook in that particular viewing. At which point, I realized I had a nearly useless tablet that I had to find a use for (other than propping up a table leg and getting rid of that wobble). I’ve not written reviews on tablets before—but it concerns me that after only a handful of paragraphs, I’ve already told you everything there is to know about this device—with the exception of the pair of front-facing speakers (which, by the way, are a good match to the already boring specs). Quick disclaimer: This is NOT a review about Android 6.0, or Google’s ecosystem…it is about a tablet which, at very best, doesn’t really compete on any level with even the more inexpensive tablets available ad-supported through Amazon. But, we’ll get to my recommendation later. The “who” of this article is a fun part of the story. I’m a practical guy; I’m resourceful and I don’t want even an inexpensive tablet to go to waste. Both my kids have 2nd generation iPad Mini’s, which blow this thing out of the water, so I couldn’t even pawn it off on them. Instead, I found a decent “uni-tasker” use for it ONLY as a media-consuming device: specifically, YouTube videos which run fine, and streaming content through an app called Kodi which requires very little by way of specs to deliver acceptable results. The battery life is good enough that I can charge it every few days based on an hour or two of use here and there. Keep in mind, though, that I already watch YouTube videos and stream content through Kodi on my laptop—so it’s not even a grand slam for that purpose—but it certainly does have value in that it reduces the spend on my laptop’s battery, and is light enough to carry around or hold in bed while watching. Another really nice (albeit extremely inexpensive) thing about this tablet is the included “Acer Tripod,” which is a flat-folding stand that works well for the tablet, but can just as easily be used for a smart phone. This is a really nice accessory to include with the cost of purchase; it doesn’t make it totally worth it, but it certainly makes a little of the pain go away. If you’re looking for a good mainstream tablet, steer clear. If you are looking for a first-time tablet for your kids, this might be an OK choice provided they are still relatively young (at most, 5 years old). I know that seems crazy, but the standards for tablets are too high nowadays for this to be a good buy. The notion of “when” to buy this is precluded by the fact that you probably shouldn’t. But, rest assured, if you don’t, the over-saturated Android tablet market will continue to be over-saturated, and in 6 months to a year from now, you’ll be able to throw away your money on some similarly priced and spec’d device. So, it probably shouldn’t surprise you that, based on the above, I give the Acer Iconia One 10 tablet only one star out of five. I can force it to serve some purpose in my life, but for most I think it’s low-end specs would be more frustrating than is worth it, even if you end up paying a little less than a higher-end tablet. I most definitely would NOT recommend this for anyone else.

The tablet has a sturdy feel with a decent weight to it. It is not an ultra thin super light weight tablet. I did not charge the tablet before use, I just turned it on immediately and started installing accounts and apps. It took about two hours to get the tablet fully updated and ready for full use. At the beginning of installing apps, there are only three pages that easily increase as you slide the new app past the last page. The tablet made six pages before the internal app storage became full. I cannot send any apps to my micro-sd card, in order to free up some of the 32 GB internal storage space. I infer that the 32 GB micro-sd card is just for storing photos, videos and music. Several times after installing an app, I immediately tried to open it unsuccessfully, because the error message, “Unfortunately, (game) has stopped or Unfortunately, Acer Home has stopped.” The volume is not as loud as I thought it would be, based on its two speakers, solid feel and heaviness. Also, the time it takes to boot up is a bit too long. I allowed my teenage grandson to use the tablet for playing video games. He played First Person Shooter game Modern Combat 4, NBA Live Mobile and GT Racing 2. The games displayed graphics clearly and the reaction times were immediate. The games all play well and the screen size is excellent for gaming, videos, photos and all visual apps. The cast feature does send the tablet screen to the TV screen, but my Video froze when casting to the device connected to my TV, but there is no way to verify if the problem is the tablet or my own device. Overall, it is a decent tablet for its price!

The Acer - Iconia One 10 - 10.1 - 32gb tablet is decent for the price. Pros- I like the large screen. It makes it easy to browse my email, shop, play games or watch videos. I like the bright white color, the textured back (if you don't plan on using a cover), the tripod stand that's included, and that the Micro USB port and micro SD card slot are covered. The memory capacity is great at 32gb for the price. The set up was pretty easy. It walks you through step by step. Cons- The battery life is ok. It seems to drain rather quickly just sitting in sleep mode. The camera isn't very good. The pictures are grainy. Because it's not as mainstream, it's a lot harder to find a case that fits. Also, I come from solely using Apple products, so adjusting to the android based OS is taking a little bit of time. I want my iTunes library on there and haven't figured out how to do that yet. I also didn't like that during the set up you have to use a gmail/google account. There's is a ton of pre-loaded apps on there. Luckily it's easy to remove what you don't want. I would recommend this tablet to someone who doesn't want to spend a huge chunk of money for the big name brands. It's great for basic tablet needs, for kids, and it's affordable.

The tablet is light and responsive, setup was easy out of box - including downloading and setting up apps, maybe 10 minutes from start to finish. It has been running for 4 days (roughly 32 hours of usage) on a single 4 hour charge. The speakers are good quality and the screen brightness and clarity is very good.

First off, you get what yo pay for This is a very inexpensive tablet, and it's performance matches the price The feel is very light, and the materials are all plastic. The start-up is fairly slow, battery life is fair, and the screen is clear, but without any depth The OS is consistent with Android, and fairly intuitive with enough loaded apps to get you started I see this being good for really two (2) things 1) If you want/need an e-reader that you can travel with without fear of losing it. It is basic, but totally fills that bill. It is good for e-mails and listening to music (yes, it has bluetooth), but watching a moving might get straining 2) If your kids want a small, inexpensive tablet as a first computer, then it is also perfect. They can abuse it, and it will break, and the cost is much less than the competitors If you are looking for a tablet for work, watching movies or anything more than basic computing, you will need to spend more with a higher end unit Overall, this is a decent tablet for the price point, but do not have high expectations and you will not be disappointed

This tablet would be nice for kids getting their first tablet. It has a nice display and its light weight. It has decent speed and fairly easy to navigate from app to app. Setup was straight forward and the tablet walked me through the entire process. Once in I noticed right away some preinstalled apps many of which I wouldn't have a use for. Once in, i started by surfing the web, the Acer Iconia 10 has decent speed for surfing with no lag. I also went to YouTube and that's where i started noticing the differences between this device and more expensive ones. It lagged from time to time and it lost connectivity to my internet a couple of times. It has a good screen display for watching videos. Where it really fell short was playing games. The lag was very noticeable and it frustrated me to play high graphic games. The camera's lack a lot of the detail you get from more expensive pads, but they will do the job. All in all this pad would be perfect for a beginner, road trips, surfing the web, watching downloaded movies and reading due to the display. I would recommend this pad for those reasons.

What do I like about this Tablet? It is an inexpensive very capable tablet with a quite nice feature set. My experience with Android (this tablet sports Version 6.0 Marshmallow) is that it is a slow booting system and that holds true with this tablet. After booting though the Acer Iconia One 10 (B3-A30) is nicely responsive and quick, it moves smoothly from one task to the next. Powered by the quad-core 1.3 GHz MediaTek MT8163 processor, has 1GB of DDR3 RAM with 32GB storage and microSD card support up to 128GB. The screen is HD 1280 x 800 which looks good in games, apps and pictures are sharp. Wi-Fi is 802.11n Dual Band, would like to see 802.11ac but for the price point it works. On our VERY busy home network the data flow is smooth with no hiccups, no complaints. Like the fact that Acer did include the Dual Band support. Additional features include Bluetooth 4.0, and a micro-USB 2.0 port for connectivity. It also has front stereo speakers, along with a 2MP front camera, and a 5MP rear camera. Camera takes good pictures and the sound is fine, my wife speaks with her friends and family across the globe daily and loves the sound. One item I am not thrilled with is the plastic cover at the top of the tablet which covers the Micro USB and microSD. Hoping it is stronger than it appears. For a inexpensive everyday workhorse, this tablet gets the job done.
