    Good but not great

Pros: This microphone feels sturdy and well made, when you hold in your hand it feels as if it's a real microphone. I don't feel like I am going to break it when I play guitar hero. The vocals can be heard well in the game and perhaps can be a little loud. I believe this can be due to how close we hold the microphone to our mouths. The cable length could be longer for people with larger/longer living rooms, but we haven't had any issues with it so far. CONS: This is the part that has me wondering if I am going to be playing guitar hero into the near future. This also applies to the guitar.. and that is that the microphone is WIRED. The guitars needs its own USB dongle/receiver. So you see, if you want to play with other people, you can only have one guitar player and the singer, or two guitar players and no singer. Why weren't the guitars made wireless with out any extra accessories. The microphone I understand, but I believe they could have improved on this. I haven't checked out Rock Band and I am sure there's a way to use all three components in guitar hero if Rock Band is able to do it. Over all, having the microphone is sure a great time with friends and family. Knocking off a star for being wired, obviously it would cost more to have a wireless option. However, it's an option that most people would appreciate.

    New and Fresh

I've been playing guitar hero and rock band games since the very first installment and they've been great, but have grown stale over the years. This new Guitar Hero game really provides a nice and new fresh take on these games to help bring excitement back into the genre. The new guitar layout works extremely well, changing just enough to make things feel different, but still intuitive enough to not be frustrating. The live audience is a little goofy but in a good way, making it much more interesting to see what is happening on screen than the virtual band that is usually shown. The streaming element, while divisive for most people, is actually quite cool as far as I'm concerned. Yes, you don't own the music and are just renting the songs, but looking back on my Rock Band history where I did own the songs, I ended up only playing those songs a handful of times. Renting them and playing them the same amount of times has not at all been an issue and I can easily earn free credits by playing along with GHTV, which has helped me actually discover a lot of new songs I enjoy, that I never would have given a second look to. Overall, if you like guitar hero games but have grown tired of the franchise, give this new one a try as it provides a new and fresh take that the series/genre has sorely needed.

Was feeling the nostalgia with this game. Was on the fence with the $100 msrp, though it is/was on sale Black Friday (early access deals were for my Best Buy/elite members) $70 ($55 for GCU members), after using $5 rewards offsetting NY tax and the remaining $23 on a gift card (from a trade) I paid $30 onto my Best Buy credit card. Can't go wrong at that price plus a free, suppose to be normally $20 mic. I was a bit leery on the switch from 5 notes across to the 3 and 3 top/bottom, it actually isn't too bad. A little different for those of us GH vets. The most expensive part is needing the guitar again. The GHTV is a cool feature too to be able to jump in online to whatever song is playing at the moment. If you don't have the GCU (20% off new games) do yourself a favor and pay the $30/2yrs for it. On this it will pay off. I saved $15 off of the already Black Friday $70 price. Probably save $20 off of $100 so you already almost break even and go uphill from there. $60 games will drop to $47.99. All in all, great purchase and I'd recommend this. Rock band is great too but then there's the fact I switched consoles (PS3-Xbox one) so my songs don't transfer unless I had a ps4, and needing all new controllers instead of keeping those in the same family too. This seems like a more affordable choice at the moment and the GHTV so far seems to replace DLC a little. Also it came with a $10 off Skylanders Superchargers coupon good through 1/31/16, probably give that away to someone to use for their kids in time for the holidays.

This is the best guitar inspired video game I have ever played. That being said, I haven't picked up a guitar hero game in quite some time and I had the opinion that the genre was dead. I think I may have been right on some levels, but this game did inspire some new found interest. The best new featured of the game is the guitar itself. The button layout is new and, for someone that actually plays the guitar, it feels more natural. Also, the graphical update was great and they went to great lengths to make you feel like you are on stage with a big crowd. The downside is, when it all comes down to it - it is more of the same and I find it getting old already. So I guess it comes down to how psyched you are to get back into these music genre games.

Still an amazing game that is tons of fun. The ability to select an array of songs is a cool feature. However maneuvering around the option screen is a bit confusing and will take some time to figure out. One Major downfall is the guitar set up. Old system had buttons that were completely across the neck for each note. Each finger had its place on the neck for each note. New guitar has 3 squares that have an upper and a lower button. Very easy to mess up and loose track of. And very difficult for smaller hands and short fingers. Even the best player from old system had a difficult time and misses the old system guitar set up. Maybe GH can figure out how to offer the old setup as an option.

The single player part about this game is a lot of fun. You feel like the player at a concert playing. They do a point of view of a rockstar and it is suppose to be you. It actually works pretty well and is fun to do. The songs are fun to play and there is a good bunch of them. Online part: A person can also play what is basically touch tunes at a bar online. They have a selection of over 150 songs that a person can play, but their is a catch. You either have to pay for it using real money like 5 dollars for about 5 plays. You can also spend I believe about 10 dollars or so and have unlimited plays for the day. If you don't want to spend any money these songs are constantly playing all day and you join in where the song currently is playing. The music is on rotation and you can't pick the next song unless you want to pay money. You also can earn credits by playing music and doing well. The guitar is different from before. It has 2 sets of 3 rows of buttons for a total of 6. It is a cool way of playing the music, but it can be hard. This is basically a single player game. You can play with others if you buy another guitar, but they play the same music as you. There is no bass guitar or part like older games. You can also use a mic with it, which is nice, but it is not scoring the singing like older games. I wouldn't pay full price for it, but if you can get it for a discount, which I did, then it is fun to play from time to time.

    Same Mic as GH:WT

The vocals for GH have always been poorly made, as they do not come up remotely close to how well the Rock Band vocals do. This game is no different, and I believe has worse vocal tracking than any other GH game. But this review isn't about the GH Live vocal tracking, just the mic. This is the exact same mic that came with the Guitar Hero World Tour game back in 2008, just with a "GH LIVE" sticker on it. The mic does its job, but is nothing more that a cheaply made USB microphone.

Not the Same as Old Guitar Hero

I really enjoyed playing this game, but it does take some adjustment. It's not the same as the old Guitar Hero games, but I think that is the point. You have to re-learn to play the new controller. The Guitar Hero Live gameplay is very fun, and it definitely gets points for creativity and originality. I'm still getting acclimated to certain aspects of the game, but it was definitely worth the money spent. I picked it up on sale, too, which helps.

Having played prior GH games, I was curious to give this new version a shot. Reviews saying this is more realistic playing are spot on. I started on the beginner level to get some practice and to get used to reading the notes as presented on the screen. There are 2 rows on each fret of the guitar neck (top and bottom) and the color on screen indicates which row to choose: Black = top of fret, White = bottom of fret

Solid accessory, cord a little short

Had to research online how to get this mic going in the game as it wasn't intuitive (thought it would be as easy as "plug and play"), but works just fine once in use. Given that it's not wireless, the cord is a bit short, requiring the singer to be pretty close to the tv set, which isn't exactly optimal when you're trying to play with a group of people in front of a big screen, so minus a star for that.

The free microphone was a nice addition to the GH Live 2 guitar pack but we don't really use it much. First you need both from USB ports for the two guitar controllers and second people play GH to play guitar not sing. I'm sure we will use this more when there are more people around to play. As far as the durability, it is a good mic and seems to be built well.

Guitar hero has changed, not the same old 5 button layout. instead 6 total buttons. 3 side by side. At first it is a bit tricky, but like anything you get used to it. And the catalog is quite refreshing as you dont need to buy music to save to your already full hard drive. you just pick a song and pay tokens. which is earned in game or with real money.

"mom I need internet for homework... but we adults, know all too will it is for this game........ My kid's are all grown up so I have only myself to blame if no internet... but you know I do....

Great New Version but with a big difference

The Live aspect of the game is lots of fun. The crowd and your bandmates react to how well you play. It is pretty funny if you do a bad job as the crowd jeers and your band makes faces at you. There is a live station that rotates different songs from different genres that you can play and this constantly provides new songs. The big difference is the new guitar controller. Instead of the standard 5 buttons there are top and bottom rows that each have 3 buttons. This makes it feel more like playing a real guitar but can take some time to get used to.

Nothing spectacular here. It's a microphone, and it works. Voice sounds a little funny if you ask me, and although my kid seemed to be nailing the pitch/tone or whatever you call it required by a particular song, the Wii-U seemed to think differently. Not sure if that's the microphone though. Bottom line - does what it's supposed to do.

It was confusing at first (ok, still) on how to setup the microphone, in terms of when to use it (not how to hook it up to the Xbox). All of a sudden, there was another voice coming through our speakers. Sure enough, it was my daughter talking into the mic. We're figuring it out, but there could be more of a tutorial.

Not much to say about this one, it works well but as with all the other products for GHL for the One you need a free USB port to use it. Since the One only has three and I was already using 2 for external drives, I needed to purchase a 4-1 hub. Nice long cord and definitely adds to the game with the vocals.

The microphone is really fun and adds a lot to the game, but it's not as easy as you may think. Not only do you have to know the words (which they provide) but you have to have the correct pitch as well. Very challenging and brings it to a whole new level. Great deal of fun, but not as easy as it looks!

Great little addition to Guitar Hero, especially for those of us who love to sing but do not have the courage for Karaoke!!! The only thing that I wish is that the volume of your voice were just a little bit louder and most of the time the Guitar part of the game overrides the sound of your voice.

This is a guitar hero microphone. You use it to sing when you're playing guitar hero. There isn't much more than that. You plug it in, you sing to the song, and you play the game. It does what it is supposed to do. Sometimes, things just are what they are. This is one of those times.
