I own several electronic transportation devices. Scooters, skateboards, hoverboards, etc... I am only sharing because my reviews of electronic transportation devices is based on the use of many different types. This particular skateboard ended up exceeding my expectations. The box contained the board, handheld wireless controller, charger block carrying strap and basic instructions/safety sheet. I charged it to full and it was easy to tell because the power block has a red light when charging and a green light when fully charged. The takeoff was fast and abrupt at first. The board is driven by a single 800W motor. It is a powerful little motor and it states that it can handle up to 220 lbs. I weigh about 170 lbs and it has no problem moving me around. At first, I felt a little uneasy but after a couple minutes I started to relax my legs and knees a bit and slowly adjust to a loose body feel and become one with the board :) After about 10 minutes I was riding smooth and bending corners easily. As I stated, I have previous experience on electric skateboards so I was able to adapt pretty quick. I could see it taking longer for beginners. I have ridden the board on streets, sidewalks, parking lots and pretty rough pavement. The board is somewhat skinny and my feet do hang off a bit. On the rougher pavement you definitely feel a constant vibration and getting off the board will leave your legs feeling funny for a few minutes. The board does good on sidewalk separations but you do have to keep an eye out for debris and such. I have hit little rocks and sticks. Most of the time the wheels just kick it out to the side and I keep trucking. Once you have a strong forward momentum going the board gets through these smaller obstacles. I definitely don't suggest riding the board through any water of any sort. Even the smallest puddle can result in rendering your board useless. The underneath where the motor is stored is attached in a black solid plastic housing with vents for cooling. Getting water in that housing would most likely result in an electrical short. After non-stop riding it can get hot underneath but that is expected when pushing this type of device to it's max potential. The pick up is solid and the battery lasts me about 30-45 of constant cruising and the occasional full speed. The handheld controller has a safety strap which I 100% reccomend using and the controls are pretty simple. Up on the controler to accelerate and down to brake. The brake had an interesting learning curve. For the first few times I used the board, I felt the brake was to sudden and would result in me falling. I honestly thought I would never use the brake. The more I got comfortable riding the board I kept experimenting with the brake. I can now use the brake like a pro and stop on a dime. The trick is to really lock your legs onto the board right before braking. If you brace properly you won't feel like the board is going to stop and you're gonna keep going. I don't do anything extreme on the board like jumping, tricks, etc.. I do feel the board is durable but don't know how well it will hold up if you are abusing it too much. After reading some mixed reviews I did go ahead and purchase the geek squad replacement program for 2 years. I really don't foresee any issues and I have probably spent about 20-30 hrs riding the board. The geek squad plan does provide me peace of mind, just in case. As an electric skateboard vs the others available on the market, it's really not a fair comparison. Some of the other boards retail for several hundred dollars more and it wouldn't be fair to expect exactly the same. I feel at the price point that ACTON really hit a homerun with the Blink Board. Keep an eye out for the BLINK QU4TRO by ACTON coming out in 2017. That board will redefine electronic transportation!

Got this as a means for transportation for my son during his first year at college. He loves it. Says it gets him to class faster allowing him not to be late or just sleep in a bit longer. Only drawback is that it does not do well uphill. But for price it is holding up well 4 weeks into first year.

Great Electric Skateboard-have 90 miles so far

This is my first electric skateboard, and as an owner of two electric skatboards boards of different brands and owner of (this one being less powerful)and as an owner of regular skateboards of novice skill , this is a great introductory electric skateboard for beginners. The deck is ofgreat quality and has great grip (which you'll want if you go faster than 10mph on this). The top speed is 15mph but I've gotten 17mph on flat ground according to a speed app. Its a regular size skateboard with a short kicktail so if for the more experienced riders you can do sharp turn and jumps. I would not consider this a toy, so definitely take it seriously to wear a helmet and hand protection at minimum, even if you know how to roll with a fall (like i do) because if you do have to abruptly stop going faster than 10mph you better hit the ground running or be prepared prepared to fall. I've never lost connection with the remote controller and thankfully havent fallen yet due to abrupt stops but do ride it as if you are a motorcycle, people won't see you as easily. It turns great but dont expect maneuveribility of a long board either. All in all acton makes great electric skateboards and have the reputation to back it up. This board will make you enjoy the streets of a neighborhood and parks a lot more with fun factor of some decent speed, although i dont recommend riding on PRO mode all the time, thats real fast for this skateboard. I recommend INtermediate mode which tops out at 11mph.

This is a good budget board. I would recommend for short distances. The remote can be better, it loses signal with the board and doesn't hold a charge. It could just be mine, also riding the board is very bumpy, but overall pretty fun when working probably.

I was a little hesitant after reading some negative reviews, but after owning it for a month I must say this is an excellent electric skateboard. I used it several times a week and the experience has been great so far. It charges quickly, the battery lasts as advertised, the riding experience si very smooth and it goes way faster than I can normally use in the city. So I mostly use it in normal mode, and only switch it up to Pro occasionally. Overall, a great product.

Ok, so I went out on a limb and purchased three of these for my boys. It says the recommended age is 16 but they are 10,9, and 5 and they all love it. You MUST get the app so that you can adjust the level - beginner 7.5mph, normal est 10mph, and pro 15mph. I set beginner for my 5yr old and normal for my 9 and 10. They love it. One thing you will notice is that the silver screws on the plastic cover that protected the belt and gear fall out after about 5 miles of use. All three did this. Not a big deal I suppose but it makes no sense that they used such small screws for this item. I replaced them with with longer screws and have not had a problem since.

The skateboard is malfunctioning. It kept shutting off. I paid over $70 to ship as a gift and it almost killed him.   Also, the remote will not hold a charge or even power the board. This product is both dangerous and defective. Tried returning to store after ONE use but it was beyond their return policy. Tried contacting Acton but no response yet. Just want to return this dangerous mess and get my money back (including the $70 shipping cost)

    Best Product for the Price

For $500 you get quite a complete package. Pros: - 6 mile range (comparable to the larger competitors) - Short charge time (mine fully charged in a little over an hour) - The size and weight are incredible. This thing is lighter and smaller than anything out there. - Top speed seems like more than enough for the size of the board - Brake is almost too good. - Cool app that measures your distances. You have to manually connect bluetooth everytime you ride though. Cons: - Remote could be better (takes some learning to get used to. its very touchy, and there is a huge dead zone. some users report that it gets stuck in max throttle) - High speed can get squirly because of the size of the board. Not sure if this is a con since this product isn't trying to necessarily compete with the longboards. - No reverse - Speed selector on remote is useless. You have to use the app and connect to bluetooth everytime you want to chance the speed.
