This series is closely connected to all the Marvel moves, and it's fun to see how they interact. A great example is seeing the change to the series, after the events of Captain American: Winter Soldier, and the guest appearances of some of the movie characters (ex: Nick Fury). It also gives hints of things to come in the movies. If you are a fan of Marvel, you will definitely like the twist and turns this series will give you.

Quickly became a fan of this show after watching the entire MCU series of films. You don't necessarily need to watch the movies in order to understand the series, but there are a few nice little tie ins. The first few episodes of the season are a little tough to get through, but picks up a lot later on, especially after the events of "Captain America The Winter Soldier." I could not stop watching.

    a must-have series that bridges phase 1 and 2

the tv companion to the marvel movie-verse is an excellent addition to any collection. following agent coulson and his team through adventures that weave in and out several marvel movies (avengers, iron man 3, thor: the dark world and the winter soldier) agents of s.h.i.e.l.d. connects the end of phase one with phase 2. while the show can sometimes feel slow to get to the point, this is negligible when things heat up. a show that builds to a captivating finale and makes you feel glad you tagged along while begging the point that heroes are all around us and inside us.

    Weak beginning, better ending

The series starts out pretty terrible. If you're not already a fan of producer Joss Whedon, this show won't win you over. And if you are a fan, you'll spend most of the first episode squirming with discomfort, thinking about how you'd already talked up the show to your friends as something that "can't help but be good, because it's Joss Whedon!" You'll be treated to occasional great lines of dialogue wasted on a weak plot & a parade of smug two-dimensional cringe-worthy characters. Yes, the first episode is disappointingly weak. But any hopes you have that the season premiere was an anomaly--a low point of the show born from the network's need for a quick pilot--will be dashed through the next couple of episodes. The show quickly plummets from weak to downright awful, and you'll spend a large amount of time each episode wondering why you're not turning the show off...assuming you haven't already done so. But if you stick with it, the show does eventually get better. No, the characters don't really become more interesting...their personalities were locked down early on. But about 2/3 of the way through the season, a sudden plot twist connected to the movie Captain America: the Winter Soldier shakes things up. The overarching story becomes substantially more interesting. The season ultimately closes pretty strong. It doesn't fully redeem itself, but it comes close. Most importantly, you'll hate the characters less. In the end, this is not a good series. I could never recommend it to someone who isn't already a Marvel movie or Joss Whedon fan. But if you are, you're eventually going to give in, buy it & watch the entire thing, despite all the negative fan reaction you've no doubt heard. If you do, I can tell you this: you won't hate it when it's over.

It's what you would expect out of a Marvel TV show

This show kind of reminds me of Smallville. Aside from the obvious comparisons (superheroes, freaks of the week, decent special effects), the beginning of the season felt like the show was trying to find its niche. It wasn't until the show started intersecting with the Marvel films where it really shined. I'm eager to see where they go with the next season and if there will be any more intertwining of Marvel mythology and lore. Hopefully so as this show just hasn't fleshed out enough interesting background to these characters to justify a few more seasons.

Bringing together the Marvel Cinematic Universe

The movies including and following Iron Man present the world as seen by the biggest heroes of the Marvel universe, but there is more going on behind the scenes. Agents of SHIELD is a good concept that is somewhat inconsistent in quality. Good episodes are great, while others are forgettable. But this show is just starting to find its legs, and it takes care to introduce the characters in a way to entice the fans, and is setting up for something bigger. A must for anyone who wants to see the continuing story of Agent Phil Coulson.

I bought this DVD without ever seeing the TV show first just because I wanted to stay in the loop for any crossovers with the current movies. I was pleasently surprised by how good the show actually is. it gets off to a slow start to get all of the characters introduced but once it hits its stride it does not slow down. I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of the MCU or superhero products in general.

With events tying into the first and second waves of Marvel movies, and chock full of characters and concepts from all over the Marvel Comics universe, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. takes its time starting out before it goes into an exciting arc connected to Captain America: The Winter Soldier in a very big way. With many questions raised, and only a few answered in this first season, die-hard Marvel fans would do well to invest some time in this show, especially now that the second season is underway, promising even more for loyal viewers.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is a must watch show for any Marvel Comic Book fan. It tells the story of Agent Phil Coulson after he "died" in The Avengers. It explains how he came back to life and also introduces some other Marvel characters - mainly Deathlok. The acting can be over the top and some of the jokes are corny. The show really started to pick up after the middle of the season. After the events of Captain America 2, this show picked up as it was greatly affected by the events of the movie. Cant wait for Season 2 to start back up.

Good extension of the Marvel Cinematic Universe

I was thrilled when I heard that ABC was bringing Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to TV to help expand on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Other than Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson) and some well known S.H.I.E.L.D. members that show up late in the season (no spoilers here), the cast is relatively unknown and it seems that it takes a few episodes before they feel comfortable with their roles. I would say this season is good, not great, and definitely got better as it went along. I have high expectations for season two given how season one ended.

It may start off slow but Agents of SHIELD kicks in big-time in its last episodes. The cast is great and showcases the fun of a procedural in the Marvel Universe while the FX can be a bit lacking at times. The first half of the season drags a bit, more filler stuff but thanks to the twist of "Captain America the Winter Soldier," the last half-dozen episodes are absolutely fantastic. Extras include commentaries and behind the scenes stuff to enhance it so if you're a Marvel movie fan, this is more than worth the purchase to enjoy.

I can agree with many that this show did start off semi-slow, but it got considerably better as it went. If you enjoy the Marvel movies -- then this is a great show to pick up! It really adds to the story line of the movies. I just wish this series had come with the UV/Digital Copy. BB had this for a great price and combo offer (with Cap) release week. Plus, I received it the day of release!

When I heard about this show, I was so excited! But as I started watching, I couldn't handle the cheesiness... But I have to say that I'm soooo glad that I continued the show! It really picks up after the events of Captain America: Winter Solider. The characters finally start growing on you and they find their place in the MCU. I had to own the show, and I'm happy with the DVD.

I enjoy the show. It has action and humor and it meshes well with the MCU. Quite a few people complain about the show but to me, they are not true fans who appreciate a well timed theme show that coincides with the MCU movies. lt may seem to start off slow as a series but that is for character and story development. It gets way better and season 2 has made with a worthy show.

The script is well written and actors' portrayal of characters is excellent! This show keeps everyone guessing as to what happens next. Each episode contains surprises that were unexpected which entices the viewers to want more! I especially enjoyed the luxury of watching the fist season again back to back which tied the entire plot together and answered questions that I had!

It is a perfect addition to your Marvel Collection, incorporating many of the story lines from the movies, including some cool guest appearances. You will also be introduced to many other characters from the Marvel universe as well as new characters unique to this series.

Agents of shield gives audience members a look of what goes on between the marvel movies. The show has a rocky start for story telling to make the viewer wanting to come backand watch more, However The show does finish with a strong resolution that any marvel fan will love. In short if your up to date on all marvel movies after the avengers this is for you. If you have missed Iron Man 3, Thor the Dark World and most important Captain America the Winter Solider. You will be lost of what's going on.

Wasn't quite sure what to expect from this TV show and actually waited until season 2 was about halfway through. Decided i should give it a try and it doesn't disappoint. The show ties in great with the movies in the MCU, but you don't have to have watched all of the movies to understand what's going on in the show. Must own for any fan of the MCU.

Initially started watching this on TV, but couldn't commit. Bought the Season on impulse and after a binge viewing session, I thoroughly enjoyed the season and was looking forward to the next. Plenty of twists in the story and direct tie-ins to the movies was cool, although this means you should be a fan of the full Marvel cinematic universe to enjoy.

The series starts off basic enough picking up after the events of the Avengers film. While interesting, it's very vanilla to start. Then, halfway through season one it elevates its game to another level. The intrigue and excitement grows and builds to a remarkable twist and finale. Honestly, by season's end this was my favorite show on network TV.
