Let’s start this review with the unboxing of the Alienware M17. Right off, I noticed smudges on the screen from fingerprints. The only plastic was around the edges of the screen. It was not packaged very well for the price of this PC. The packaging and interior of the box was very minimalistic which I love. Now, I will list the Pro’s and Con’s of this Alienware M17 Gaming PC. Pro’s: • The virtual assistant is extremely helpful. • The keyboard and touchpad is extremely sensitive, responsive, and ergonomic. • The graphics are amazing, for gameplay and general use of this PC. • Start up is quick and easy. • Screen size is great for the everyday user to the hardcore gamer. • Stylish and modern design. • Speakers are great! • I love the backlights of the keyboard and other areas of the PC! • Super-fast processor, amazing graphics card, and multiple ports for all your needs. Con’s: • PC is VERY heavy. • I have had trouble with this PC overheating. I have tried multiple ways to vent this PC better, including a cooling pad. It gets so hot it does slow its performance. • Fans are very loud. When it gets hot it blows extremely hot air from the back of the PC. Please keep the vents clear. • Battery life is not what I expected. I would recommend keeping your charger around. • Everything is white on this, I feel a sleek black, or even a wild alien green look would give this PC the extra flare it needs. • No LED indicator that the PC is charging while lid is closed. • While playing games on this PC, the temperature builds rapidly and game performance rapidly declines. • No drive for “old school” CD-ROM games. I am on the fence about recommending this product due to the stated reasons above. If you just want to leave this computer plugged into a power source on your desk and can deal with the overheating and declined performance, this PC is for you. If you want to be mobile with this PC, not worry about it over heating, performance staying at its peak, this PC is not for you. I am really on the fence with this product because I want to love it so much. Then the overheating, decline in performance, and the battery life being a joke just makes me want to cry.

Got this for my daughter. Works great! Plays her online games with no problems!

Broke a month aftwr getting it. Had to send it in to Dell so they could replace the motherboard but outside of that its been exactly what I wanted in a gaming laptop.

Decent laptop. A lot of power and has been noticeable to me upon first initial use when playiny my favorite online game. It isn't perfect but I've been enjoying it.

Good laptop but battery wont last long enough. Have to always keep the charger plugged in

This is a wonderful laptop and comes loaded with everything you need. The video card pushes my 27" HP Omen monitor with no problem and the overclock presets make overclocking easy. No thermal issues or any issues at all. The built in dispaly gives you the full 144hz and works well with all games ive played.

Awesome Looking Laptop and easy to go setup. 3 games installed no performance issues and light weight compared to my last two laptops. Perfect for fun and play. Downloaded Microsoft 360 so both work and play are covered. Love the adjustable lighting on the backlit keyboard so that I can make all those keystrokes in the dimly lit man cave.

Great gaming exp. Worth buying. Light weight is an added bonus!

This is a great laptop so far. I had a Razerblade and it was so loud you didn't even want to use it. This laptop stays pretty quiet even while gaming. It has handled everything I have thrown at it so far. By far the best quality laptop I have had. MSI, ASUS, Razor, Apple, this one beats them all imo.

It is a great gaming computer and cool colors on keypad.

the r2 is a good gaming laptop the 512gbs for storage isnt enough nowadays, the value is low bc of the price

Non-stop BSOD! This issues has grown since day one of owning it. At first I thought it was just a windows 10 issue. After resetting the unit, several updates for literally everything, rolling back, researching tweaks and others with similar issues. Nothing has fixed the problems! Each is related to video cards, scheduler, Occasionally I can get an hour or two of stable game time. Then it Freezes and BSOD. 50/50 on if it actually restarts at that point, or just hangs on the recovery screen at 100%. Manual power off and try again. Sadly past the point of returning it otherwise it would be back at Best Buy, exchanged for anything else. When it is running, its fine and smooth. Also fairly quiet compared to the 5 year old MSI unit I had prior. Trying Dell/Alienware support Assist to see if they can offer any help, if that ever starts to work. Otherwise I've wasted $2K on a paperweight.
