Awesome Styling with Excellent Switch Feedback

I was blown away when I saw this keyboard in person! The styling, the perfect tactile mechanical keyboard with quiet switches, and the bright lighting in all the right places was far superior to the loud and dimmer Razer keyboard I currently had. While I loved the Razer Blackwidow keyboard feel, the software was the dealbreaker, and the noise of the clicky switches was a bit too loud for everyone else in the household. CLICK CLICK CLICK over and over could be heard throughout the house when slaying an army of orcs. And I had to use it without the Chroma and other customizable features, as the Synapse software kept disconnecting my keyboard and mouse randomly when installed, and customer service was far from helpful over weeks of troubleshooting. Enter Alienware Pro. This beautiful piece of hardware seemed to be the answer to all of my woes. While not perfect, I'll break down the pros and cons from my point of view to see if it's worth it for you. Pros: - The styling is beautiful, it is heavy and durable, and the design is well thought out and the LEDs are not only brighter, but the lettering of the keys was much easier to see than on my Razer. The Blackwidow Chroma, while more muted, did have the edge when it came to the smoothless of the spectrum cycling. The change of colors across the keyboard was much smoother than on the Alienware, which seemed a bit stuttered. Not a dealbreaker, but hoping Alienware matures this in it in future products. - The switches are AMAZING! It took me a while to get used to the less noisy switches, after using Razer for so long, but after a few hours of use, man I love these switches! Hats off here. Cons: - The Alienware software was odd, in that it didn't seamlessly integrate with the existing Alienware Command Center and lighting tools that are used in the laptop AlienFX. While the software was not as feature filled as the Razer, it did work and didn't cause any issues with my hardware, which plagued me on my Razer gear on all my systems. Again, if Alienware can integrate the software better, this will be a 5 star product. - No TenKeyLess design. For you this may not be a dealbreaker, but this was an issue for me. I consistently bump my mouse hand against the side of the keyboard when gaming on full keyboards, and this Alienware is extra large as it is full keyboard, PLUS it has the extra set of macro keys added. I love the macro keys, but in addition to the keypad, makes this a behemoth of a keyboard. If it had the macro keys and lost the keypad... this keyboard would be pretty much perfect. Conclusion: Excellent and solidly built keyboard, sexy design, with macro keys, volume roller, and a bunch of extra features. So close to perfection. If this is too large for you, I found the Logitech Pro is an excellent TKL design, while not as sexy, the software is solid and offers a much reduced footprint.

The Alienware - Pro Gaming Keyboard USB - Black, silver was something I have looked at as a possible keyboard in my consideration for a serious gaming keyboard for my new gaming system. I have done a bit of research on exactly which keyboard would offer the most features I would want and use while offering the best tactile/mechanical switch experience possible. Since the mechanical switch keyboards are totally based on personal preference, I know there are many opinions on which is best, however, I have found the I personally love the feel of the Brown switches and was excited to discover that this keyboard was a Brown Switch. PROS - Totally customizable for your unique needs both for physical keys and lighting - Easy setup, just plug and play if you wish - I loved the scrolling sound control roller on the keyboard, one of my favorite features - Alienware software is easy to use to help make the changes you want to your customizable keyboard - The Brown Switches respond perfectly and reduce the strain on the wrists and figures from pounding the keys for quick reaction - This thing just looks awesome in the dark! CONS - I haven't found any yet! I really love this keyboard and can't imagine going back to a regular keyboard after using this one!

I purchased the "Alienware - Pro AW768 Wired Gaming Mechanical Brown Switch Keyboard with RGB Backlighting - Black, silver" for my husband. He purchased a custom Alienware desktop, with two screens, directly from Alienware's website. It took months for the desktop to arrive and when it did it was missing the power cord for the desktop, the keyboard, the mouse, and we called their customer support line, and they are WORST than Comcast Cable Customer Service (for those who have ever had Comcast and have ever needed to call their customer service). I took initiative and went to BestBuy.com, and saw that Bestbuy had what my husband needed so I ordered it, and it arrived months before Alienware finally got their act together and sent us what was rightfully ours. So, now we have two keyboards/mouse/powercord. It is a beautiful keyboard, and my husband says that it is the most comfortable keyboard he has ever used.

The keyboard is solid in design, and has a weighty feel to it. The keys have a nice texture to them that feels less glossy then other keyboards. Design wise it is sleek, and the rgb customization is quite expansive. There's only 3 things that I'm not the biggest fan of with this keyboard. The first being that there's no usb pass-through, but that's personal preference. Second the macro keys on the left can only switch between three colors (I think yellow, pink, and blue), but that's not an issue for me as I have the main keys fade between pink and blue. The third issue I have is that there's no wrist guard included, however there is the option to purchase one. I did find the wrist guard at office depot for $15, so it's not that much of an added expense if you want it. The wrist guard does add a nice look to the keyboard while not taking away from the rgb lines along the bottom of the keyboard.

I have been a fan of Alienware products for a number of years, I have had a couple of their machines in that time and have been very happy. However I have never liked their peripherals, from the Roccat series to their own TactX I have never felt there was much quality behind them. So let me tell you how surprised I was to find that Alienware/Dell had gone out and created a line of professional level gaming accessories. I had just purchased an Alienware Aurora R6 [1080 Version] and a 15.6 Alienware R4 Laptop [1070 Version] and decided that I would take a flyer on the higher end keyboard and mouse [that review will come later] Simply put its a beautitfully built piece of kit, well thought out, I guess I could say I wish there was per key lighting, but that is so not even remotely a major issue. It types and plays well, has a lovely weight on my desk and just fits in seemlessly with my other equipment, pick it up, you won't be disappointed.

This is one amazing keyboard. It features TRUE BACKLIT keys - not just surrounding areas - it looks amazing in the darkness where you can read every key clearly. Groups of keys are configurable with different colors thanks to the Alienware software. This key is a true keyboard - not some niblet imitation keys with no tactile travel to them; this reminds me of those classic IBM keyboards from the early 1980's where there is weight and travel to the keys - this keyboard is well made and has real weight to it - it feels solid. Keyboard case also features alienware lighting on the sides and in the front to add more character to it. If you like the feel of a classic keyboard and don't mind that it does make sounds when you press keys (mechanical sounds), then this is one serious board.

Overall I'm pretty pleased. It's a nice, solid keyboard with ample lighting and multiple leg settings. I haven't really learned the macro stuff yet, but it's got that option as well. Keys feel good and are laid out nicely. To top it all off, it's customizable through a separate Alienware app you can download. As for drawbacks, there's just the one option for keys -non clicky :(- the keys sometime have this metallic ring, the macro row doesn't work with the color change setting, and, for the cost, they should include a longer version of the palmrest, instead of selling a short one separately. Ultimately, it's still a pretty awesome keyboard, especially if you're looking to complete your Alienware setup. Now, if they could just make a great headset...

This is a truly amazing keyboard that can be a joy for anyone to use whether you're a gamer looking to compete at the highest level or you're just an average PC user that enjoys RGB lighting and a great experience this is the keyboard for you even though it demands kind of a higher price tag the quality is really impressive and so is the software performance and RGB lighting. I did a full review on this on my YouTube channel JBTechfanatic that you can check out if you're interested otherwise I definitely recommend this product.

This is a good looking keyboard with a decent layout and quality materials. If all you want are aesthetics by all means have at it. Some of the biggest features are a bit of a let down. Yes the custom lighting sounds neat but you are restricted to "zones" rather than individual key controls. The gaming software works with far fewer titles than other major brands even though it seems to be made by a leading brand the support is just not there. Additionally paying about a 20% premium for less just to have a "matching" accessory that loses 50% of the functionality is just silly. Lastly I went through 2 of these, performed the recommended firmware update and bricked them both.

As others have said, I wasn't sure if I'd like the MX Browns since I'm used to MX Blues but it turns out these are great. I'm actually finding myself typing surprisingly faster with these compared to my old Code keyboard. My only complaint is the lighting. At high intensities, I can see the flicker in the LED and haven't seen that before on any other backlit keyboard. But when you turn down the brightness, you can no longer see the ambient lighting around the edges of the keyboard. That's the other complaint, there's seemingly no way to decouple the two. Otherwise, good keyboard, great feel, decent software.

If you are looking at reviews for this item it's because, like me, you broke your old keyboard. This was the one keyboard in stock that didn't feel like a piece of crap and had the numeric keypad attached. The color options are a bonus and makes my desk look awesome. My kids find it amazing! If you are looking for a gaming keyboard, I have no idea how it stacks up to others so I can't help you there. But really, if you are looking for gaming keyboards, why are you going to trust what I have to say and not a professional reviewer. Good day!

I chose this keyboard to go along with my purchase of an Alienware R7 desktop computer. The keyboard has a nice clicky feel to it. If you want a silent keyboard, this is not for you. However, it is responsive and tactile and good for typing and game play. If I had one complaint it would be the software that accompanies the keyboard. Even after updating all my software and hardware, I still have issues with the software changing my layout of the keyboard when it comes to key color. Overall this is a solid choice for anyone looking for a clicky and responsive keyboard.

A definite upgrade form a normal keyboard and the standard Alienware keyboard. Pros: Strong tall keys Customize lights, keys Extra Keys Volume bar (So freaking handy) The letters and numbers on the keyboard are not in some fancy font! This is great because I can still see what each letter or number is when the keyboard is illuminated. (Unlike Razer keyboards) Cons: Sometimes goes dark when certain games are not compatible. (Not Dell's fault the game developer needs to fix that but I figured it may be helpful to some customers)

I love the weight and feel of this gaming keyboard. The mechanical keyboard and feel of the keystrokes is exactly what I was looking for. The ambient backlighting works great and in programmable to work in conjunction with my Aurora R7. I mentioned the weight...this beast is heavy. I game some, but it's not what I use the keyboard for predominately. I like this as my every day desktop keyboard as well. I can program it to more things than I could ever want. Alienware knows their stuff!

First off, this is my first gaming keyboard in my entire life and I must say I'm really impressed. I'm not biased towards Alienware in general, however, I would say that there's quite a huge difference in the quality of the typing coming from regular keyboards and the lighting configuration (albeit only via zones) is great! Lastly, I purchased this Alienware keyboard using Best Buy's price-match policy and got a really good deal.

My son purchased a mechanical keyboard for the gaming computer he built. But when it arrived and he used it, we discovered that it was very loud. Since he was getting ready to move into a dorm at college, we felt it would be unfair to his new roommate to use such a loud keyboard. We found this Alienware keyboard at BestBuy and it was much quieter than his original one. My son was still very happy with the responsiveness of the Alienware keyboard, and we are sure his roommate will be happier with the quietness of it.

So I bought this keyboard about a year and a half ago. The biggest problem is that the left foot of the keyboard has completely broke I had to superglue it! And it gets super dirty! Pain in the but to keep clean bcuz of the open shell design! Really frustrating! Tbh I don’t recommend to anyone.it goes up at a slope and makes it difficult to type in for long periods of time gameing is ok just sometimes hard to press the right buttons bcuz keys are big and spaced out!

I've had many other keyboards and overall much like them. The mechanical keys are sturdy and solid. The lighting effects and software is a little more challenging then some (i.e. Logitech) but the thing I like out and stands out the most is the keyboard colors and lighting... Its true to color and definitely stands out. Its also nice to be able to hit the Alienware logo and shut the backlight off. That's something you can't find in many keyboards. I would recommend and matches my aurora r7 very nicely

I purchased the Aurora with 1080, not cheap, yet it came with the most basic of basic keyboards, yet Alienware has the audacity to sell what should of came with the desktop. I also purchased an Asus ROG gaming desktop system and it came with a far superior keyboard than Alienware's system. I have no doubt this is a good keyboard , but come one MX browns? Brown MX are clunkier than Cherry Red and have a weird tactile feel, look anywhere and you will see people prefer Red for gaming as they are faster, smoother on the stroke and not to mention last longer.

After a bad experience with razor and it’s buggy synapses software, my best buy rep recommended the Alienware keyboard. What a difference, this is what a true gaming keyboard is all about. Nice articulation of the keys. Durable and quality in every aspect of the keyboard. The rgb lights are beautiful and bright. It’s water proof! And the software is simple and runs in the background. Best of all it does not require all your information like razor demands. Simple, elegant, and drama free.
