This is a pretty decent keyboard for gaming I also have a full Alienware setup so I color coordinate most of the colors on a variety of devices. The Alien FX software is great to customize specific key zones for gaming or specific needs and the colors are just beautiful. My only complaint is it is a little loud when typing but a non issue and can’t hear it too bad when streaming.

Good gaming keyboard. Only gave it 4 stars because it doesn't have as many customization options as the Corsair gaming keyboards. It has zone light customization rather than individual keys. I Love the sound of the keys though.

Awesome Styling with Excellent Switch Feedback

I was blown away when I saw this keyboard in person! The styling, the perfect tactile mechanical keyboard with quiet switches, and the bright lighting in all the right places was far superior to the loud and dimmer Razer keyboard I currently had.
While I loved the Razer Blackwidow keyboard feel, the software was the dealbreaker, and the noise of the clicky switches was a bit too loud for everyone else in the household. CLICK CLICK CLICK over and over could be heard throughout the house when slaying an army of orcs. And I had to use it without the Chroma and other customizable features, as the Synapse software kept disconnecting my keyboard and mouse randomly when installed, and customer service was far from helpful over weeks of troubleshooting.
Enter Alienware Pro. This beautiful piece of hardware seemed to be the answer to all of my woes. While not perfect, I'll break down the pros and cons from my point of view to see if it's worth it for you.
Pros:
- The styling is beautiful, it is heavy and durable, and the design is well thought out and the LEDs are not only brighter, but the lettering of the keys was much easier to see than on my Razer. The Blackwidow Chroma, while more muted, did have the edge when it came to the smoothless of the spectrum cycling. The change of colors across the keyboard was much smoother than on the Alienware, which seemed a bit stuttered. Not a dealbreaker, but hoping Alienware matures this in it in future products.
- The switches are AMAZING! It took me a while to get used to the less noisy switches, after using Razer for so long, but after a few hours of use, man I love these switches! Hats off here.
Cons:
- The Alienware software was odd, in that it didn't seamlessly integrate with the existing Alienware Command Center and lighting tools that are used in the laptop AlienFX. While the software was not as feature filled as the Razer, it did work and didn't cause any issues with my hardware, which plagued me on my Razer gear on all my systems. Again, if Alienware can integrate the software better, this will be a 5 star product.
- No TenKeyLess design. For you this may not be a dealbreaker, but this was an issue for me. I consistently bump my mouse hand against the side of the keyboard when gaming on full keyboards, and this Alienware is extra large as it is full keyboard, PLUS it has the extra set of macro keys added. I love the macro keys, but in addition to the keypad, makes this a behemoth of a keyboard. If it had the macro keys and lost the keypad... this keyboard would be pretty much perfect.
Conclusion:
Excellent and solidly built keyboard, sexy design, with macro keys, volume roller, and a bunch of extra features. So close to perfection. If this is too large for you, I found the Logitech Pro is an excellent TKL design, while not as sexy, the software is solid and offers a much reduced footprint.

I love this keyboard! I asked a Best Buy associate if he would recommend this for gaming, and honestly, in his personal preference said no; the ‘clickyness’ drove his friends nuts over the mic and he thought it was too bulky. However, I have no problem with it, in either situation. It truly is a personal preference, so definitely try it out in store, before you fully commit.

A Real Gaming Keyboard for Real Serious Gamers!

The Alienware - Pro Gaming Keyboard USB - Black, silver was something I have looked at as a possible keyboard in my consideration for a serious gaming keyboard for my new gaming system. I have done a bit of research on exactly which keyboard would offer the most features I would want and use while offering the best tactile/mechanical switch experience possible.
Since the mechanical switch keyboards are totally based on personal preference, I know there are many opinions on which is best, however, I have found the I personally love the feel of the Brown switches and was excited to discover that this keyboard was a Brown Switch.
PROS
- Totally customizable for your unique needs both for physical keys and lighting
- Easy setup, just plug and play if you wish
- I loved the scrolling sound control roller on the keyboard, one of my favorite features
- Alienware software is easy to use to help make the changes you want to your customizable keyboard
- The Brown Switches respond perfectly and reduce the strain on the wrists and figures from pounding the keys for quick reaction
- This thing just looks awesome in the dark!
CONS
- I haven't found any yet!
I really love this keyboard and can't imagine going back to a regular keyboard after using this one!

I love the weight and feel of this gaming keyboard. The mechanical keyboard and feel of the keystrokes is exactly what I was looking for. The ambient backlighting works great and in programmable to work in conjunction with my Aurora R7. I mentioned the weight...this beast is heavy. I game some, but it's not what I use the keyboard for predominately. I like this as my every day desktop keyboard as well. I can program it to more things than I could ever want. Alienware knows their stuff!

After a bad experience with razor and it’s buggy synapses software, my best buy rep recommended the Alienware keyboard. What a difference, this is what a true gaming keyboard is all about. Nice articulation of the keys. Durable and quality in every aspect of the keyboard. The rgb lights are beautiful and bright. It’s water proof! And the software is simple and runs in the background. Best of all it does not require all your information like razor demands. Simple, elegant, and drama free.

The keyboard is solid in design, and has a weighty feel to it. The keys have a nice texture to them that feels less glossy then other keyboards. Design wise it is sleek, and the rgb customization is quite expansive. There's only 3 things that I'm not the biggest fan of with this keyboard. The first being that there's no usb pass-through, but that's personal preference. Second the macro keys on the left can only switch between three colors (I think yellow, pink, and blue), but that's not an issue for me as I have the main keys fade between pink and blue. The third issue I have is that there's no wrist guard included, however there is the option to purchase one. I did find the wrist guard at office depot for $15, so it's not that much of an added expense if you want it. The wrist guard does add a nice look to the keyboard while not taking away from the rgb lines along the bottom of the keyboard.

This keyboard is truly amazing. The keys feel solid and the lighting is very cool. It uses AlienFX lighting so it matches my mouse, tower and headset. The setup was easy and the software for it is very good. I would definitely recommend this!!

Bought this to go with Alienware aurora computer. Great how you can customize lights to different games. Keyboard feels well made and I like the “click used” of the keys. Seems like it will last a long time.

The keys work great. A bit clicky/ noisy but not too much. Lights are a nice feature as long as you don't need to look at the keyboard and then up to the screen too often.

Not the sexiest looking keyboard out there but with the alien lighting you can get this thing to glow exactly how you want it. Easy to see in low light and just cool looking. Volume control works great. Has everything you need and can be set up how you want for gaming.

This is a truly amazing keyboard that can be a joy for anyone to use whether you're a gamer looking to compete at the highest level or you're just an average PC user that enjoys RGB lighting and a great experience this is the keyboard for you even though it demands kind of a higher price tag the quality is really impressive and so is the software performance and RGB lighting. I did a full review on this on my YouTube channel JBTechfanatic that you can check out if you're interested otherwise I definitely recommend this product.

I like the quality of the Alienware gaming keyboard, RGB Backlighting and typing on the keys, but seems a bit bulky. Would be nice if it was a bit more slimmer. However, very sturdy and I must have it to match my Alienware gaming system. lol

First off, this is my first gaming keyboard in my entire life and I must say I'm really impressed. I'm not biased towards Alienware in general, however, I would say that there's quite a huge difference in the quality of the typing coming from regular keyboards and the lighting configuration (albeit only via zones) is great! Lastly, I purchased this Alienware keyboard using Best Buy's price-match policy and got a really good deal.

Overall I'm pretty pleased. It's a nice, solid keyboard with ample lighting and multiple leg settings. I haven't really learned the macro stuff yet, but it's got that option as well. Keys feel good and are laid out nicely. To top it all off, it's customizable through a separate Alienware app you can download.
As for drawbacks, there's just the one option for keys -non clicky :(- the keys sometime have this metallic ring, the macro row doesn't work with the color change setting, and, for the cost, they should include a longer version of the palmrest, instead of selling a short one separately.
Ultimately, it's still a pretty awesome keyboard, especially if you're looking to complete your Alienware setup. Now, if they could just make a great headset...

I love this keyboard for many reasons but mainly because I love using the macro keys for hotkeys when I am trading. Colors are cool and you can change it up as much as you want. Keys are a little loud but not too bad. I've seen reviews about the different switches but I couldn't tell you the difference. Overall good feel with 3 elevation levels for your wrist comfort. Worth it if you can get it on sale under $80

I have had several mechanical keyboards. This one is great. It is overpriced like most gaming keyboards and even more so being Alienware, but I’d buy it again. If you have an Alienware system, you can control the LED lighting of the keyboard to match the lighting theme of your system using the Alienware control panel.
