Actually, I have never seen this movie, but have heard great things about it.

All Quiet on the Western Front is a 1929 American epic pre-Code anti-war film that won the Best Picture Academy Award for 1929-1930. Opening to wide acclaim in the U.S., it was considered a realistic and harrowing account of warfare in World War I, and is part of the American Film Institute's first 100 Years list in 1998, and in 2008 it was ranked the 7th best American epic film, and has been selected and preserved by the United States Library of Congress' National Film Registry as being deemed culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant. The B&W first war film talkie to win the Oscar, which in those early days was categorized as best outstanding production. It is told from the perspective of the German soldiers, who go off to war to do their duty for the fatherland without realizing the politics behind the war and the consequences of an unjust war.

If you have any interest in a restored film masterpiece that's over 90 years old and is a relevant today than it was in 1930, All Quiet on the Western Front remains the greatest antiwar movie ever made. It poignant, personal and from the perspective of the enemy German soldiers in WWI. All soldiers suffer, no matter what side they fight for....WAR IS A SENSELESSWASTE OF HUMAN LIVES.

This is one very best movies of all time, not just a great war (anti-war, really) movie. This remastered version is more visually impressive than previous versions that I have seen. It is a must see for anyone that is interested in great cinema.

An excellent war movie which has stood the test of time. Seen from an ordinary soldiers perspective on the frutality of war and its impact upon civilians and those doing the fighting.

Great dvd for the price. It is also a great gift for Christmas.

This has always been one of my favorite war films. If you are looking for great ww1 trench warefare and battle action, this is some of the best. If you are looking for a great anti-war film, this is, in my opinion, the best. If you are looking for just an old classic, its good for that too. Don't be discuraged by the few dvd features, because there are no other versions of this film. I highly recomend it to anyone who enjoys drama, action, and classics.
