alone in the dark is an excellent game for retro enthusiasts and newcomers to the genre, alike. for fans of this series, there's a lot to love about this modern take on the original pc survival horror classic, you can even purchase extra character skins to make yourself look like the polygonal characters reminiscent of the ps1 era. the graphics are excellent and there's a lot of detail beathing life (or unlife) into the derceto estate as you search for a missing madman and uncover dark secrets. the voice acting is amazing and adds to the eerie atmosphere created by the scenery; the performances of david harbour and jodie comer are complimented by the lesser known actors involved, the story which is so important to creating an immersive experience in this genre, has received a lot of good attention. newcomers to survival horror will be pleased to find puzzles, item management, and combat are all simple but not so much that fans would be turned off. alone in the dark doesn't break ground in any sense, but it does an amazing job of bringing a dated classic up to par for modern gamers.

Had a great time with this game. The story telling, atmosphere, and vibe are great. Is it a bit janky, yes. Combat and enemy AI could be better but if you are a horror game fan, I recommend giving this a chance.

This game is awesome(at least for me as a old school survival horror fan and fan of tge ps1 classic)this game does so much right and keeps you on your toes with surprises(though it is not perfect it is alot of fun)i would say it's an 8 out of 10 graphics are good but not fully ps5(next gen)more like agood ps4 game. I dig it and think it fits the vibe well. Voice acting is great and gameplay interesting and fun for puzzles and such. Combat a luttle clunky but still good and you can adapt to it. All in all i am enjoying it and actually put down other games to play it.

I truly loved this game. I highly recommend a play through. There are lots of puzzles and a very great atmosphere. Its not super scary. Survival horror is probably an inacurate genre description. But it is thrilling. Highly recommend.

The game is pretty fun, but very janky in places. It is definitely not worth full price. It was recently free for PS Plus Essential members, so make sure you don't already own this one. Graphically, it looks nice. But the gameplay will get repetitive fast. If you can get past some jank and occasional graphical glitches, you might find a fun time with this one.

Do you like Resident Evil? Do you like Alan Wake 2? If so, you’ll Likely enjoy this. It’s not as stressful as those games. There is no inventory management. The puzzles are just the right difficulty. The story is interesting, even if a bit mysterious as to exactly what’s going on. This is all to say, it’s a fun game. I recommend it if you’re into these sorts of horror games.

Loved the retro theme to it, i really enjoyed the gameplay, the story and lore was awesome as well. I have already played through it twice as both characters to get different endings. Has tons of replay ability and ive almost got the platinum as well.

Knowing how this game inspired the survival horror genre, borrows thing from other modern horor games and make different enough to be its own. Game has slow pace just like the original, let you choose between two characters just like the original and both play throughs are different. Completing both unlocks a secret ending. This game is ahumble return and expectations should be kept low. Regardless is nice experience. The game has mode for hardcore survival horror gamers, were the game doesn’t grab you by the hand tells you where and what todo. It actually lets you use your brain ans can be rewarding figuring out puzzles, pay attention to what other characters say or note you find.

A classic horror series reborn on modern hardware. While a bit rough around the edges, Alone in the Dark is a series that has been dormant for many years, and is a worthy addition to any horror gamer's collection

Its a good game but not as good as the original. The character movments are choppy and wish they were more smoother, opening doors are slow, and the run mode could be a bit faster. Lots of jump scares and the monsters are creepy. The puzzles can be challenging but you can figure them out. Overall it was enjoyable and i would recommend this game.

As far as the quality of the physical disc from Best Buy - that’s a 5/5. The game itself is pretty good. Certainly not the best survival horror title, but fun nonetheless. If you’re a fan of the genre and are looking for something new, it’s worth it.

Flawed game (especially with combat), but very unique with a lot of charm that oozes a lot of style. I’m actually surprised a reboot of a classic IP ended up being one of the most original horror games I’ve played in a long time.

Very interesting old school survival horror. Slow paced with interesting puzzles and great atmosphere. Highly recommended for fans of the original (90s) games.

I always enjoyed the original games from the 90s! This is a pretty good call back to that plus some additional changes. The nostalgia hits hard in a good way and the puzzles are fun to figure out too!

Alone in the dark already had a lot of things against this game; the combat is for one, the story is another and while it played on the notion of using two leading Hollywood actors (David Harbor and Jodie Comer); both felt flat and both felt like they didn’t want to be there in that voice booth. This is a mediocre game with some decent promise if it was done correctly.
