Having a kindle has so many benefits, where do I begin... 1) Adjustable font and backlight make reading more comfortable 2) Stores more books than I can probably read in my lifetime 3) Battery lasts for ages, not really something I ever worry about 4) You can take as many books with you as you please 5) Get books delivered in seconds 6) Ebooks are almost always cheaper and save paper 7) You can use Readwise to have your kindle highlights emailed to you to remind you of your favorite parts of your books 8) Free ebooks 9) Goodreads can sync with your kindle automatically to track what you are reading, and can recommend new books to you based on what you are reading 10) Able to save space on bookshelves

I purchased it from best buy it had issues, and requested amazon to replacement and even the second replacement also had issues, so they sent me third replacement, now have to send the two devices back to them. Blurry images, screen blinks black, slow opening and highlighting, if we click one option it goes to some other, brightness and light differences compared to other device, I don’t know when i will encounter issues with the third device, i was not able to add video, to show blink and other things but i have attached photo which shows the screen brightness difference, sometimes in one device Bluetooth symbol appears when homescreen is clicked at top, battery comes 3 days approx but it depends on usage

    A Review From 2 Perspectives

I feel I need to approach this review from 2 perspectives: 1. If you are somewhat new to the Kindle experience and you bought this one. 2. If you are a previous Kindle or Paperwhite owner and upgraded to this one. If you are NEW TO THE EXPERIENCE or upgrading from an old Kindle like a Keyboard, welcome. This new Kindle merits 5 stars. You're going to love it. Here are some Kindle Paperwhite features you'll enjoy: * Built in light. Reading in bed while someone is trying to sleep next to you is now an easy joy. * Touch screen. Getting around your Kindle is easy. Turn pages, shop in the store, all by touching the screen. * Waterproof. This is a new feature to this Kindle. Bring it in the pool worry free! * Bluetooth. Sync this up with a speaker or headphones to have a book read to you. Besides that, this Kindle is thin and light. It doesn't fatigue your hand at all. The fonts are adjustable for size. The light is adjustable for brightness. The color of the light is somewhat grayish. My older Paperwhite had the blueish hue which I found a little unnatural. I bought the Amazon case and when you close the cover the Kindle automatically sleeps and when you open the cover it automatically wakes up. I find this Kindle to be a little faster than the previous version. If this is your first Paperwhite there is only reason to be content with your purchase. Now, if you are UPGRADING FROM AN OLDER PAPERWHITE I'd still be happy (I'm still glad I did upgrade) but there were a few things that made me go hmmmm. First off I expected this Kindle to have the latest software. It didn't. I'm waiting for the update where the home page scrolls and you could save font themes. Why doesn't a brand new Kindle not have the latest software? Not a deal breaker because I know the update will be coming, but my old Paperwhite was updated. Last time I checked the update page it didn't even show the update for this version. A little disappointing. Secondly, I had the Paperwhite from a few versions ago, the one with 212 ppi. Upgrading to this one with 300 ppi, I expected the font to be sharp, bold, and clear. Well, I'll just say that it didn't stink. Actually I found it to be a little greyed out, a little washed out to say it another way. Now, this is totally adjustable of course. The font could be bolded and size changed. But again, a little disappointed. The software is exactly the same as my older version, minus the upgrade of course. I wish Amazon would give us more fonts to choose from. I know that we could download fonts now but it would just be nice if they were built in to begin with. So my two biggest gripes are not shipped with the latest software and underwhelming font sharpness. From this perspective I'd give it a 3 1/2 or 4 star rating. But having said that I have no regrets upgrading at all. I would do it again. The Paperwhite experience in general is something I find amazing. When I'm finished with a book I go right to the store and check out samples, download free classics, or pull the trigger on a purchase based on my mood right then and there. I wouldn't trade it for anything. If you are new to Kindle or upgrading from a really old one don't let my gripes deter you. The Paperwhite is the gold standard of e-readers. At an affordable price you're getting this gold standard. And since this Kindle boasts being waterproof, bluetooth, being thinner and lighter, and with 8gb of storage, it's a no brainer.

I originally got this so I could take a copy of the Mueller Report on the plane rather than carrying the rather bulky paper version. It served that purpose well. A pleasant surprise is how easy it is on the eyes, particularly in a low light situation. Even reading in the dark is comfortable. One minor difficulty, which is more an issue with the content creators than the Kindle itself, is that some books (the M-Report being one) lack numbered pages, so it's hard to establish a correspondence between a location in the printed version and the e-Reader version. That being said, the Kindle does save your place when it goes to sleep. Other advantages to reading on a Kindle include having a built-in dictionary which you summon by simply touching the word you want to look up. Also, on supported books, the X-ray feature allows instant access to relevant Wikipedia pages and in-depth information about the book and its author. The Kindle has a plethora of Bluetooth and AudioBook capabilities, which I currently don't plan to use, but are nice to have available just the same. I highly recommend getting one of the Kindle covers that Amazon makes. Not only do they protect the unit, but simply closing the cover puts it to sleep, and opening it wakes it up. Overall, both the Kindle and the cover are high quality pieces.

Paperwhite is lightweight and easy on the eyes. Great for reading text. Not ideal for books with photographs. It works best with books purchased from Amazon or appropriately formatted books which can be sent to your Kindle account using the Send to Kindle app for Windows or Mac or via email. One can also sideload books using a usb cable. It is water proof, and will run for many hours on a charge. Books are easily downloaded using WiFi. It is a really convenient book reader. Note that it is not a general purpose tablet. It also works quite well for library books in Kindle format. Depending on your local public library, many but not all ebooks may be available as Kindle books. It is great for bringing many books along on a vacation. This model depends on using the touchscreen for almost everything. Mechanical buttons to turn pages are available on the more expensive Oasis model if desired.

Love, love this reader. It meets all my needs and carries as many books as I want/need. I can read in bright sunlight or a darkened room with ease. It allows me to change font style and size as needed. Holds my books, KU books, ARC docs and audible books all in one place. It's lightweight and fits in my purse so I always have a book to read whether waiting on someone or in line at a store. Definitely recommend this product.

This is my 2nd Kindle Paperwhite. I love the product. The expanded memory is a real bonus. The ability to see the screen even in the sunlight, to adjust print type and size, to adjust the brightness of the screen and so many other features including the size and light weight make it a truly great reading experience.

I wanted to read more books but didnt have the storage for them so I bought this kindle paperwhite. I've found the paperwhite to be light, easy on the eyes and to have a very long lasting battery. I can hold the kindle paperwhite with one hand for extended periods of time but eventually revert to holding it with two hands or using a pillow pad/tablet stand. I love being able to have ads on the kindle to see new book recommendations and find ebook deals up to 80% off. In the end I only buy ebooks for $2-$4 and have so far read 2 books since owning it. Traveling with the kindle was far better than having a big bulky tablet or laptop to entertain me on a flight. With the kindle I could easily pick it up and read it for hours on a plane ride. When it comes to responsiveness the kindle does the job, I bought this kindle paperwhite just before the next generation was set to be released but have no regrets because it does everything I need very well and has been a worthy companion during my travels so far.

I had seen mixed reviews on the all new kindle paper white, but decided to try it out for myself. I found no issues with the paperwhites connectivity, display, or power supply. The battery holds a decent charge (weeks now) as I read from 1/2 hour to one hour a day. It uploaded my library with no issues, and hopefully with 32 gigs memory I won’t need to buy a new one for quite some time! Oh yeah, it’s also waterproof now! Enjoy! The only drawback is it does not have buttons to wake the screen. Non issue in my book!

I am in LOVE with my Kindle. I debated purchasing one for well over a year, mainly because I worried I would not like it as much as an actual book. Let me tell you, I wish I purchased it sooner! I love finding new books quickly, the ads have actually lead me to a few books I am currently enjoying. Being able to download what amounts to a small library is super awesome too. If you are debating the purchase like I was, take the plunge. It’s worth it, in my opinion!

It’s “Paper White” - which means you can read a book or view other material sitting outside in more or less bright light reliably. Without undue strain on your eyes. No other tablet or e-reader can deliver on that. Only the Kindles Paper Whites offer that. There is no color, only black and white or grayscale. The software is rather clunky, to be precise S L O O O W, and doesn’t always do what you want it to do right away. But it gets the job done at a very reasonable price. My iPad Pro costs 8X as much, and it is totally useless in sunlight. If only used for its intended purpose it will serve you well and is well worth the money.
