The case holds the device by a strong magnet rather than by elastic corners like other cases, and I believe it is probably this magnet that makes the device turn on when the case is opened and also turns it off when it is closed. It seems like a little thing, but it is very convenient. I also like the way you just slide the device upward out of the case, and it automatically turns on the camera, and locks it into place again in the new position. The stand works much better than the one on my previous Kindle case, and I really like the way it can be used both vertically and horizontally. The only reason I'm not giving it the full five stars is that it was quite expensive, and every now and then the device does slide out of the case. I've never had it fall out, but it has slipped a few times.

Looking at how the case is designed and how it fits onto the tablet, you would not expect it to stay on. It works like a charm. The only time the case has come off is because I have taken it off. It has never fallen off. Great product and design.

The Origami Case for Fire HDX 8.9 stated purpose is to protect the tablet while making the features still easy to use. I agree totally - the designers did an excellent job. It not only works well; it also looks elegant. I am happy I took the extra step to protect my investment.

The design allows the pad to be used standing up in full screen or portrait positions . Why not 5 points ? Well - you have to take the cover off to use the camera and it does not hold the unit as firmly as most since it is magnetic. Closing/opening the cover does turn the unit on and off which is another plus.

I already own one origami case for my personal Fire, so I knew I needed to get one for the Fire that the family got for my uncle on his 88th birthday. The case is simple to affix to the tablet and offers a fair amount of protection from casual handling. It also looks classy in black.

Excellent product for providing the best protection for a Kindle. Fits like a glove and functions great as a protective covering. Would not go without it if purchasing a new Kindle.

I really like this case. It is easy to put on the Kindle and folds away so that you forget it's there.

I didn't realize I could get a cheaper case, somewhere else, so went with the one that fit my Kindle Fire 8.9--I thought it was pretty expensive for just a case! It serves the purpose, but I could have gotten one for a lot less, elsewhere, that would have served the purpose, as well!

Case should always come as a package deal since product is expensive.

This case is fine in the house as far as i am concerned. Like other reviews the magnet holding system can be very questionable when not handled just right. Not over enthused with the stand system either for sliding, maybe the leather version holds better.

The magnetic feature that wakes and puts my kindle to sleep is fantastic but every once in a while, when I am trying to manipulate the cover into a comfortable position for reading or something else, I will grasp it wrong and the kindle will just pop free of the clasps. I think this is dangerous since it holds such a costly item. Hate to think what would happen to the kindle if it got away.

The origami case for Kindle fire is a good case. The protection is good, the case is sturdy. It has nice weight to it. The only con I have with the case is that the Kindle doesn't really "lock" in, it slides in place. If you tip the Kindle, it will fall out, otherwise it's somewhat secure.

Sometimes a pain to use. Otherwise it holds on well and looks cool.

This cover is versatile and gives great protection

The cover works well for protection and for sitting the tablet up. One improvement that could be made would be to provide a place to put identification, in case the device is left somewhere.

Works perfectly as a cover, light weight and easy to use. Easy to clean too as its plastic. Also works great with the keyboard specifically made for the case/kindle. Get it!

Overall the product is great. The only reason I did not rate it a 5 star is that it does not include an opening for the camera. Although it is easy to remove the case, you really shouldn't have to do that to take a picture.

This was purchased for my wife and she loves it; it stands on it's own and she can read or watch movies/shows on her Kindle virtually anywhere
