Now and then you watch a movie and you're just completely blown away. This often times happens with newer movies with high expectations such as Avengers Infinity War. Then there are the times where you happen to watch an older movie that came out years ago, that you somehow overlooked. Thus is the case with American History X. Yes it is very highly rated, but rightfully so because this movie is incredible. It deals with a very serious issue such as racism and really makes you think, wonder, angry, and enthralled all in one. This movie is a must see.

This is the only movie I have ever given 5 stars. Great story, great acting. There is a lot of cussing (especially the f word), so if you don't like that I wouldn't recommend this movie. To all others, I highly recommend.

everyone should see this movie at least once in their life. edward norton delivers a fantastic message in this movie. brought me to actual tears. do yourself a favor and get it!

Needed now more than ever. Edward Norton plays a reformed radical who went to prison for killing a man. While in prison he believes he can continue to hold the beliefs he held on the outside to protect him, and learns all to soon, that the only thing that is true in prison is survival. Avery Brooks plays a history teacher (who taught Norton) and his kid brother (played by Edward Furlong) who comes and meets with Norton and helps him understand that everything he believed in was based on hate and falsehoods, this shakes Norton's world to the core. He reforms while in prison, when released he wants to make amends and various forces will try and pull him back into the life he tries so desperately hard to stay away from. Can he protect his mother and little brother from the violence that he himself so eagerly brandished? The ending has to be seen to believed and is still very powerful today. Highest recommendation if you go in with an open mind and willing to accept that people can change and forgiveness is real. An excellent film more people should see today more than ever.

Such iconic movie in the film industry, the upscaling that was done to allow this movie to be on Blu-ray format is nice and noticeable, worth it for sure.

Great movie and a great price. I jump on these sales from BestBuy whenever I can. Headed for retirement, so I am building my DVD collection. Thanks!!!

On the cover it says Edward Norton gives a blistering performance. They were not lying. The rest of the cast is great also in this. But be warned this movie is not for everybody. It’s harsh realism is all too real. And the sad part about it is that there are real people just like this in the world.

Bought as a gift for my boyfriend (because he'd never seen it which was crazy to me). A must see for anyone who hasn't seen this movie.

This is now one of my favorite movies. I can’t believe I haven’t seen it before. It definitely makes you think and has a great plot.

The movie gives a pretty graphic view in to the skin head culture, and can be pretty intense at times.

I jumped on this when I saw the price at Best Buy! Had to replace the old DVD with BluRay.

Ed Norton can play a villain and a hero so well. This I think was his break out movie.

This film - driven by yet another breakout, disarming almost paralyzing performance by Ed Norton - forces the viewer to challenge their racial, social, socioeconomic and political views about the history of race, and hate, and prejudice, in the contemporary US. I cannot watch this film without crying at at least one of several climactic points. Ed Norton shatters all boundaries and exceeds even his own exceptionally high and well-earned, firmly set expectations of what it means to deliver oneself to a character in a role - and the director has done a seamless job of delivering a piece of cinema that should be shown in high schools throughout the US, without too much exposition, but very clear (shot in black and white, appropriately) mis en scene techniques - that will move, challenge, and change the viewer. A must-see for any young adult, period.

GOOD MOVIE, GREAT BLU-RAY QUALITY. GOOD HISTORY LESSON FOR EVERYONE TO LEARN ABOUT.
