Set up was easy, step by step instructions are great. Works as advertised! Once done, reboot your router and extender. I had some severe speed/connectivity issues until I did a reboot.

Easy install - Airplay! - HORRIBLE performance

Pros: Super easy setup - honestly a no brainer... up and running in less than 10 minutes. (Unfortunately it does take that long because whenever you change even the smallest of settings it has to reboot and counts down from 50 seconds. Some settings it has to do something else which counts down from 180 seconds. Flashing the firmware took over 300 seconds.) I bought this device because it supports Airplay - and... it works! Sorta... That's about it for the Pros; now for the Cons... Cons: Airplay works for about 20 feet... then almost all of my Apple devices have connection problems and fall back to my main router which is twice as far away and through a wall. I contacted support to see if I have something defective with my radios or such - but they stated that's expected performance and I need to contact Apple to boost my iPhone's performance, since all Apple products have weak antennas. *blank stare* What kind of tech support tells you to contact a manufacturer and ask how to boost the performance of your device? What could Apple do for me to boost the signal of my iPhone or iPad? What kind of nonsense is that? They didn't even TRY to troubleshoot the issue. They said the results I was seeing was perfectly normal and were happy my device was working as well as it was! I used the wifi analytics tool to see the wifi signals and their RSSI levels. My main router (Asus RT-AC66U) has far better RSSI levels while being further away, and through a wall. I have an old "high powered" Buffalo WHR-HP-G300N unit which I used as a client bridge which puts out AWESOME signal strength and distance, but is only 2.4Ghz, and it doesn't support airplay over the bridge (which I'm told is due to a bug with DD-WRT firmware). So why is my 3 or 4 year old Buffalo Router so much stronger than this device that's rated at such awesome specs? I asked tech support to explain the misleading 10,000 square feet number, and they said it is rated at 50 feet radius. I'm no math wiz, but 50 ft radius would be Pi*r^2 right? That's only roughly 7850 square feet AND that's not going through walls and only for -70 RSSI. Nothing really works well with that low of signal reception, so really it's not even that far. I'm not sure how my Asus or Buffalo perform so much better when they aren't even rated for those kind of distances... but I will surely be returning this pathetic excuse for a repeater. Perhaps I expect too much? For the price of this unit, I was expecting to be blown away. I will spend the extra 40 bucks and get another one of my Asus units, and put it in bridge mode to extend the AC channel as well. For the record I used their live chat feature on their support website which was nice and convenient, but they were rude and had a condescending tone, not to mention the lack of punctuation which made it hard to read their long run on sentences. Incredibly unprofessional IMHO.

Can't hold a connection to the server

This product was recommended for San Francisco Victorian apartments which are long and have (apparently) a lot of metal in the walls. I don't know about that, but it does give a very strong signal to the room way down the hall. However, it loses its connection to the server about every 15 minutes, even if the device is about ten feet away from the server with nothing in between. If I unplug it and plug it in again, it re-connects and I have great wireless internet until the next time it drops the server. The customer service webpage offers the option of live chat, but nobody was online (middle of a weekday), but it offered the option to leave a message, which I did. A week later, no response.

You know, it never ceases to amaze me. That these so-called tech geniuses make these gadgets, make all these over the top claims, let people buy their products expecting to be truly impressed...and what do you get? Another great disappointment!
