If you've read anything about this game, you've probably written it off. Maybe @ $59.99 there's not enough gameplay at launch, but the game is now being discounted a bit; so, IMO, the value is there.
The gameplay is actually very good. The ability to fly and hover make this game quite unique in how the maps are structured and how you can approach combat situations. Each of the four javelins feel and play significantly different from each other.
The only thing holding me back from giving this game 5 stars is the lack of diverse content at release. Many free updates were planned, but they have been delayed -- hopefully not indefinitely.
I really like this game. There just needs to be more off it.

I've been playing the game since release a couple of weeks ago, and so far it's really entertaining. The world is large, beautiful, and full of variety and flying around it may be the best part of the game. Combat is satisfying and varied enough to where it doesn't get old.
I think the downsides are the lack of depth in the world. The public world events don't seem that large and the rewards for these are often disappointing. Also, the story, although pretty good, is short and somewhat predictable.
The benefit to a game like this, and what I'm expecting, is that development of new content and updates will keep improving the experience and leveling this game out with its competitors.

It's ok. I wouldn't have paid full price for it but got it for $6.88 on clearance making it a good value. So if you are able to get it cheap then do os for the PVP combat.

I'm writing this review about a week after the game was released so HOPEFULLY if this is being read at a later time they have made improvements. The game has a ton of potential, but is hampered by a ton of bugs, unreliable servers, and lack of depth. Flight mechanics are on point, graphics are gorgeous, and the combat is lots of fun. But... enemies have laughably bad AI, missions are unforgivingly repetitive, and the loot is boring. Hopefully it will improve in time, but unless you have a bunch of friends urging you to play...wait until this gets some serious TLC.

The gameplay is very fun. The flying feels great and running through missions as a team is satisfying; however, there are bugs that need to be fixed and quality of life improvements that need to be made. Overall, it is a great game so far.

I've seen mixed reviews of this from game journalists, but as a fan of previous Bioware games like the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series, I'm having a lot of fun with this new IP from the studio. I'm traditionally a solo player and love RPGs, so I usually shy away from online multiplayer games, but Anthem has enough of the traditional Bioware flavor, while still being its own game, to keep me happy combined with fun gameplay and combat that have convinced me to fly my javelin out of my comfort zone and multiplayer missions. I really enjoy the game mechanics, especially the flying, and I've enjoyed exploring the world and talking to NPCs. I doubt any game will ever rise to the world and character-building heights of Mass Effect or Mass Effect 2, but Anthem is fun and I don't regret my purchase at all.

Yes, I am saying something positive about Anthem. If you go look up the game online you will only see people writing about disappointment and how there isn't anything to do in the game. I don't know about everyone who paid $60 for this game. I paid $11. For $11, there is quite a bit to do just playing through the story-line missions. Forget about the end game, who cares? This game is fun, plays well, looks great and has plenty to do for $10. If you can get this game for cheap, go for it. It's fun. (Plus, this game is a must buy for anyone that loves Ironman. You want to feel like Ironman flying around wrecking stuff..... this IS your game).

Not as bad as the bandwagon haters make it out

First impressions aren't bad. While there are a few issues that bug me about the game, the "let's all hate on it because EA published it" bandwagon hatemongering isn't entirely founded. gameplay, graphics and voice acting are quite good. Mission structure, loot drops and and load times need patching and updating. The core of the experience is rock solid but some tweaks are necessary to truly make it shine. If you're in the edge about the game, keep an eye out for news on updates and the free dlc Bioware promised to see if it's something you'll enjoy.
3/5 - good but not great. People aren't able to formulate their own opinion so they just regurgitate whatever the big hatemongers on YouTube spew. The game isn't even close to FAILURE OF THE MILLENNIA those people would have you believe, but it's probably not going to set the world on fire either in its current state.

I know a lot of people seem to be down in this game and some reasons can be justified but I’m having a blast playing this game. If you’ve played games like destiny then you know what to expect. I think the combat is solid and flying around in the javelin suit is fun and feels good. I haven’t had any major bugs like some people may have experienced so I can’t really speak to that but overall I’m having a blast .

Game is very broken but very fun. Crashes a lot. EA/Bioware can not seem to nail down the servers around launch. That being said, flying around feels awesome and the game is great with friends. Would avoid if playing solo but if you have a crew this is a fun game to play.

Don't Judge A Game By Its Cover

Anthem is a game that is very visually appealing. It is also entertaining having the ability to fly and fight like iron man... to a point. I looked forward to this game, however in my honest opinion it fell quite a bit short. More content is promised in the future, however the current content available is lacking. Anthem provides a short campaign with very little character development. The weapon progression is lackluster and the customizable gear is no where near that of other online games of its sort. Servers drop frequently even with the updates, the sound cuts out at times, and the game simply does not meet expectations. It is painful to express that Anthem is a 6.5/10 at best. It has its moments and will hopefully improve in the near future. I currently cannot recommend the game to a friend, however in the near future hopefully it can improve with updates.

Played the beta and had a ton of fun. So far have only had 1 minor glitch during game play and loading really hasn't been an issue, longest load ive had is about a minute and a half on my xbox one x but the game is really fun especially with friends. It really gives of a destiny vibe and hopefully with the free content updates they've announced this game will continue to be improved

The game play is easy to get into, and the story for the campaign is pretty cool. However, the in game store sucks, and armor sets are cosmetic only. I do like that you can play through the game solo by setting your missions to private. There are only a handful of instances where you need to be in freeplay multiplayer.

Personally, I am a big fan of Bioware. This game met my expectations as far as game play. One downside is the constant load screens when moving to different areas. I won't necessarily advocate for purchasing this game for $60 because I think it still is a work in progress. However, overall it is a decent game.

Actually playing the game, flying around, fighting aliens, is fun. But there's not a lot else to do in the game besides that, and the story is probably better than something like Destiny but still doesn't really hold together that well. Best if you like co-op

I have to say I've enjoyed my 60 hours with Anthem. I mean, aside from the sound bugs, the crashes, the lack of loot, the buggy quests...aside from all that it's actually, honestly been a lot of fun. This game is like no other game I've played in it's aspirations, but it could have used a little more time in the oven to bake. I got my money's worth, but others wanted more and are very disappointed that the end game is just not there.
Pick this game up on sale and enjoy playing out the story, but don't expect a whole lot more after your'e done with the story as you're going to be setting yourself up for disappointment.

ANTHEM could have been a great game if ea would of put more support behind this game it was so ambitious to the flying mechanics was the best I've ever played in a video game hopefully if they make a part 2 it will be better.
