I bought this adapter for the sole purpose to be able to take the iPhone screen and put it on tv -- so I could burn through cell phone data by streaming videos and watch on tv. It appears that the device does not support using a popular video streaming service to display on an iPhone screen and simultaneously display via hdmi. Instead, the HDMI just goes dark / blank and the streaming app displays video on the phone. It is convenient to now have the ability to display my phone onto tv for things other than video, but I question if I'll ever use it. Bottom line, if you're really just trying to create some innovative way to burn through unused data on a cell phone data plan, consider just reducing the data bucket size of the plan.

I use this adapter primarily on my "new" iPad and it works great. You just simply connect it to your iPad, run an HDMI cable to your TV and plug your charger into the other side of the cable and your iPad is on your HDTV. The only thing to note is that the adapter will display your iPad at a resolution that gets close to filling your screen...UNLESS you play video that uses the native iPad video player...in that case the video is FULLSCREEN and looks fantastic. Overall a must-have product if you own an iPad and an HDTV.

For streaming movies, this adapter is perfect. My iPad didn't recognize it when I first connected it, but after power cycling it, it jumped right on. I haven't used it for business applications yet, but I see it allowing me to eliminate the need for a computer for presentations!

Running OS 6.1.2 on my iPad 2 and bought this to hook up to my Vizio HD TV in order to watch Netflix. Using this adapter and a 6 ft hdmi cable it worked straight out of the box. Just plugged my wall charger cable into one end, hdmi cable into the connection next to it, and the iPad into the other. Used the "input" button on the tv remote to change the input from TV to HDMI connection. Initially it said "no input" but after a few seconds my iPad display was mirrored on the TV. Went into Netflix and the program is displayed on the TV with the slider controls displayed on the iPad. Have not tried other software yet (like Prezi PowerPoint decks) but expect them to works since the desktop displayed just fine.

Works perfectly streaming video from HBO GO app via my Ipad2 through the HDMI port on my TV. Displays iPad content on tv screen as well. Very good video and sound quality. Can't believe I just found this. No more holding my iPad to watch videos. I love it!

It's a good connector for the ipad. Useful for hooking up to an HDMI port on a large screen TV and projecting the iPad and movies onto that.

Imacs don't have standard interface with Sony products. I have a Sony movie camera & had to purchase this cord to transfer my digital movies to my imac. It worked like a charm and happy to have it, just costly. They know you are between a rock and a hard place, so you pay!

This works perfectly for watching video on your IPAD on a TV . Works perfectly with Netflix, HBO Go, etc. No other comments needed!

Recommend for any iPad or iPhone users. Nice to see content on hdmi tv.

Now I can see my favorite Videos, TV programs, Photos, etc. Through any big screen. Also idea for sharing presentations with friends and customers.

If you don't want to invest in Apple TV, this is the next best thing. Along with an HDMI cable, you can tether your iPad or iPhone to your TV to access any content you would like to view on your TV. Could not be easier to use.

works great on iphone 4s did not work on ipod or iphone 4 I don't get along with apple, I don't care for the products. This was really cool to see it work on a tv but I find that having an hd cable across living room floor doesn't work well with kids running around. I never use it,

I think this is one of the best accessories that Apple has released. I use this when I'm traveling all the time with my iPad.

What can I say about a ordinary adapter. It's OK, do his job. But I think it is too expensive, and I'm not talking about the bestbuy prices.

Has worked great with my ipad2 since I got it. Shows everything on ipad2 on my hd tv.

Works great with Ipad 2. But does not display video with 30 pin adapter on newer iphone and iPad. Will have to purchase another newer one

Makes a handy connection when traveling on business trips.
