Customers often highlight the large, clear screen and impressive performance of this product. The ease of use is also frequently praised, particularly when compared to Windows-based systems. However, some users find the keyboard to be less than ideal, citing its small size and lack of a number pad. Positive feedback also focuses on the product's RAM and wireless capabilities.

RECENTLY PURCHASED A MACBOOK AND AFTER 1 DAY OF USE I WONDERED WHAT TOOK ME SO LONG TO TRY IT OUT AND I AM NOT SORRY. SO IMPRESSED WITH MAC I COULDN'T WAIT TO SELL MY PC AND BUY A IMAC. WELL I SOLD MY PC YESTERDAY AND WENT TO BESTBUY TO CHECK OUT THEIR IMACS.I BOUGHT MY MACBOOK AT APPLE STORE WITH EDUCATION DISCOUNT, SO I FIGURED I WOULD BUY THERE AGAIN, BUT MUCH TO MY SURPRISE BESTBUY ALSO HONORED SAME DISCOUNT AS APPLE. SO NEEDLESS TO SAY I BOUGHT IT RIGHT ON THE SPOT, ALSO BESTBUY'S FINANCING IS MUCH BETTER 18-MONTHS NO INTEREST. SET UP WAS EXTREMELY EASY AND WITHIN 45 MINS. I HAD TRANSFERED ALL OF MY INFO FROM MY MACBOOK TO IMAC, PICS AND MUSIC AND EVERYTHING ELSE. SAVING ME ALOT OF TIME AND TROUBLE. APPLE KNOWS HOW TO DO IT. SO IF YOU WILLING TO PAY A LITTLE EXTRA FOR A GREAT COMPUTER YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY. P.S. DON'T FORGET TO ASK ABOUT BESTBUY PRICE MATCH THEY WILL HONOR IT.

7 yr old eMac replacement

7 years ago, I grew really frustrated that all the pc's I built or bought had to run Windows and therefore crashed, got viruses, bugs and just plain would not do what I wanted--no matter how much I pumped them up. And the other operating systems I tried on them were even worse than Windows . So, I bought an eMac--the last of the Apple CRT computers. And it's still running and has not crashed in those 7 years--ever. But, the hard drive is small--60 gig and I won't be able to upgrade the OS any longer and this big, beautiful 24" display certainly makes my still and video photography easier. OS X, iLife and iWorks just keep getting better. I did decide to get a new Wacom tablet; but, I kept my old Epson 1270 printer and my Minolta Dual Scan II negative scanner (yea, I'm a film guy because it is better than digital).as well as my old Brother MFC copy/fax/printer. Yes, Mac's initial cost may appear to be higher than a PC; but, you don't need to add hardware on to it and they run forever without crashing or viruses. And you don't have to buy a new printer, scanner, camera, etc.
I really like the big, beautiful, 24" screen, and the 2.6 ghz dual core cpu makes editing those big .Tiff photo files easy. Oh, yea, can still run my 2002 Quicken Money program, so didn't have to buy a bunch of new software either.

Nice Software Package

It all boils down to Mac VS PC. If you want top end performance and upgrade ability then you better stick with PCs. For $1400, you can buy a top end PC with a decent monitor which all can be upgraded to stay a few years more relevant than a Mac down the road.
With a PC you get basic video editing functions (Windows Movie Maker) that will allow you to put together a basic home movie from your video and music files. PC also comes with multimedia programs that allows you to view videos and musics, rip cds, and copy files and make files. But for more advance applications, most people wind up buying specialized applications to do more detailed tasks. One thing negative about PCs especially if you buy from a OEM (Sony, HP, Gateway, Dell etc.) is that they put unnecessary trial / advertising software that clutters up the hard drive space and desk top, and sometimes slows the computers performance.
With Mac you get the same features you get with PC but their video, audio, and multimedia functions via ILife 09 seems be the better the more complete applications that allows you to do more right out of the box than the PC. It is also strongly believed that the Operating System of the MAC which is called OS10.5 (Leopard) is a more reliable and efficient Operating System than Window's Vista. With Mac, it does appear that you can do more without having to get additional software. Or at least be more creative with your videos, pictures, music, and presentations.
(Neither usually comes with Office Suite programs such as Microsoft Office or IWork for macs. These office productivity software which have word processing and presentation applications usually have to be bought separately. The PC will have trial versions of the these applications but are not full function until you pay for it.)
My personal recommendation: I have been a PC user all my life and recently bought this Imac because I saw ILife 09 being demonstrated. Its a software package that is more complete than what PC's offer. If you are into making home videos, creating your own music, storing pictures and presenting them in a creative way, Macs are the perfect computer for you. It also does everything the PC's do even run Windows via an application called BootCamp. But be mindful that upgrading a Mac is a little more difficult and expensive than a PC. So if you are a hardcore "Gamer" or "Power" user, you might want to stick with PCs which are much easier to upgrade and you can get more hardware for the money.
Far as which one performs better is up to the individual computers' specs. Both Macs and PCs use the same types of processors and hardware now.
If your main entertainment is gaming then PC is the way to go and if you want you can always purchase the creative software stuff later. If you are just into home movie making and internet entertainment, the Mac is perfect. The PCs can do everything with the right software and if it can't the PC can usually be upgraded to handle whatever. But with a Mac, you are going to be limited to how much you can handle and upgrade before you have to move on to a new computer.
Build quality of my IMac appears to be good. I like the keyboard but it took me a while to get used to the mouse.
Good luck.

Great iMac!

My husband bought his 24" iMac from the Apple store and ever since then I had wanted one. I've had three Windows based PC's (XP Pro, Windows Media Center, and Vista) in the past five years, and have had issues/problems with all of them. I went to Best Buy to look at the iMacs. The helpful sales person spent a lot of time showing the various features and programs, esp iPhoto. I couldn't believe how easy it was to download and organize photos. I love the face recognition feature! iLife '09 comes preloaded and ready for use.
I have wireless internet and had no problem detecting and setting up my connection, which is secured. I think set up took about 10 minutes and I was on my way to surfing the internet and checking my e-mail. Also getting my printer to work was a snap. I know Mac's aren't prone to virus' but I went and downloaded a free software called iVirus.
The graphics and picture quality is absolutely beautiful Thank you Apple for a wonderful product!
Best buy also has a great deal if you can qualify, 18 months no interest for a limited time. It was the only realistic way for me to afford an iMac.

This all-in-one set up is by far the best one. I have yet to have any problems with it. I'm also able to run windows at the same time so it has the best of both worlds. I don't like the mouse it comes with, but you can just use a PC mouse with ease. The speed and quietness off the computer are unmatched.

Perfect Home Computer

The new 24in Imac [2009 ver] is a great home computer. The Mac OS X operating system works perfectly and runs super fast. All the software on this system is thoughtfully intuitive and very useful for keeping your electronic lifestyle organized and current. Additionally the Safari browser is so fast not to mention safe to explore in.
We set this system up in our kitchen utilizing the built in Wi-Fi and it looks spectacular. There isn't any of the wire mess you find with other systems. We may opt for the wireless keyboard and mouse later on for a truly clean looking system. All you do is plug the computer into the wall and that's the only cable you may end up using.
I also wanted to point out that I actually love the new small form factor keyboard. It's basically an identical layout to the keyboards on the macbooks, I find it very easy to use and although it looks small and takes up much less space then a typical keyboard - if feels perfectly comfortable to use!!!

20 plus years of Windows, and constant pain of upgrades that mess up all my settings. Constant calls from friends needing constant repairs and tweaks from me the resident Windows guy. Hours spent getting things to work rather than working. ALL replaced in one swell swoop finally having enough and buying a Mac.
Two weeks of getting used to, how do I do this, NAW can't be that darn easy! PC's shipped off to needy NEVER AGAIN. 25th wedding anniversary approaches, she wants diamond, fine. Me, get me an Apple laptop to replace that Windows mess downstairs honey!!!
I have lost Windows friends over past 7 months since changing to Apple and raving about Mac, was worth it.

Dont listen to the guy from Hawaii, he doesn't know what he is talking about. You CAN upgrade the RAM, it can handle up to 8GB of RAM. It comes with 4GB, which is plenty for most users.

Well, for anyone out there that thinks a Mac is to expensive, keep buying the PC. When you get tired of crashing..... freezes.... and viruses, buy the real deal. I only wish I had listed to my friend's advice years ago. It would have saved a lot of time and money !! This computer may be last I have to buy. Is it perfect..... no, but I have been at least 1000 % more productive these last several weeks. I love the fact that there is no NOISY, HOT TOWER. You can barely hear it running. I watch a lot of movies...... HD is great on Mac ! I also listen to music. I have Logitech z-2300 speaker system...... looking to upgrade to Bose Companion 5. This was the best money I have ever spent on a premium computer. I'll never go back to the low end PC. Great job Apple...... it's a winner !!!!!

I have used computers since the TI days. I have had more PCs than I wish to count. Four weeks ago while looking at a TV in Best Buy I strolled over to the 24 inch screen IMAC. A very friendly sales person gave me a quick DEMO. I bought the MAC not the TV. The first thing I noticed was I was working away in about 10 minutes. No crazy installations. No preloaded garbage. This without question is the FINEST computer I have EVER owned. The ONLY additional software I purchased was IWork. TRUST ME compared to Office this is way beyond. Congratulations to APPLE for a superb product. Note: YEARS back I taught Computer Software Applications at a small university using Apples IIEs.

After dealing with all of the annoying issues with Vista, and having the best anti-virus - I got fed up with PC. I made my switch to an iMac in August, and I'm glad I did. The only issue I've had with my iMac, which isn't that big of a deal to me, is the wireless connection. It will cut out, and you lose the signal for a bit. My husband hooked it up to an ethernet cord, so I no longer use the wireless.
While it is pricey, I think that this was a great investment. I don't have problems with virus', constant crashes or Vista! Just for saving me the stress and frustration of dealing with those, it's definitely worth the money.

I am a first time Mac buyer and have always been a PC. I am frustrated with myself for not making the move earlier! I am not computer savvy but this computer was a breeze for set up and navigation. It's fast and gets done with downloads quickly even with other programs running. The only downfall is the keyboard which is a little difficult to get used to especially if you're used to a PC keyboard. The price can be a little heavy too, but in my opinion completely worth it in the end!

I had previously purchased the old model Imac. This new one that came out this week rocks!!! Not such a bad price either with it being an Imac and getting 4 gigs of ram and a 640 gig hd. Love my new Mac!!! So much better than a pc and set up was so easy.
