This is my 2nd Macbook. I just sold my Macbook White Mid2010 Model a day before this was launch. Boy I was so lucky. I like the solid design especially the glass on the LED LCD. That means less chance of having a dead pixel..(some people touch the lcd and it causes a smudge pixel) I paired the Macbook Pro 13" with a Magic Mouse. Now the Cons: I've had laptops before similar to the finish of the Macbook Pro (Aluminum). Over period of time, the palm rest will discolor due too sweat and heat. I would suggest that you get a full Keyboard silicon cover. Also, since it is aluminum casing, there is a big tendency that you may cause dents and dings as well as scratches. It is also wise to invest on External Casing that will cover the front and the bottom part. This way you can preserve you MacBook Pro (and a higher resale value when time comes that you need to sell and upgrade.) I consider this a good investment. (No viruses, minimal crashes and very stable OS.) I stil own a PC (8 computers @ home and 2 Apple Products.) and I use the Apple products mostly on financial transactions. Summary: Good solid design, Stable OS. Nice backlit keyboard, Good battery life (though Macbook White Mid 2010 can do 10:51hrs on the lowest settings) I would recommend this to everyone. Good upgrade.

    New Mac User

I'm a first time Mac user. Having moved to Mac from PC I was worried about the time I really didn't have learning a new system. I have been pleasantly surprised at how simple this computer is to use. The first night I was able to download video from my video camera and actually create a cute movie, using IMovie. I struggled with many PC based video editing programs in the past and really expected the same with the Mac but I was wrong.......the Mac is really simple to use and everything makes sense. I'm now a Mac convert and will never go back to a PC. This computer is also incredibly fast. The battery lasted almost 8 hours after the first full charge (which only took about an hour). I can't say enough this is a great little laptop and well worth every penny! Also, if you have any questions about the Mac, Jeff at the Manassas Best Buy was so helpful. He patiently answered all of my questions and demonstrated how simple the computer was to use. He was a huge factor in my deciding to go to the Mac side, him and my 17 year old that's been trying to talk me into it for over a year!

This was hands down one of the worst investments I’ve ever made. I’ve only had this laptop for a year and it’s constantly crashing & it moves sooo slow. The screen is constantly going black & updates take HOURS. I was trying to save money by purchasing a refurbished laptop, but now I wish I would’ve just saved up and bought a brand new MacBook. The only thing I use the laptop for is to edit my videos & I can barely do that. I didn’t know that this was a MacBook that was made in 2011 until I received it. If I could go back in time, I would’ve just saved my $400+

I love everything about this laptop. Sure, it was expensive when compared to a PC with similar hardware, but you won't get the same quality and design from any PC laptop. The aluminum unibody and glass display are gorgeous. PC's are all made of plastic and cheap materials that just don't feel the same to the touch, nor do they last as long. I have friends with the 2009 model MacBook Pros and theirs look as new as mine still. The operating system is great, feels very modern and if you're an iPhone user already you will feel right at home. I'm also using it as a desktop when connected to my 27" monitor. The magic trackpad and bluetooth keyboard are great accessories for this. Also I can take this laptop to school and get through the entire day on a single charge. I am averaging about 5-6 hours on a single charge using the web, word processing, listening to music and even watching a video or two during down time.

i'm not saying this isn't the most awesome computer i've ever owned, because it is. hehe... the track pad is great... inertial scrolling is the best for flipping through itunes libraries....backlit keyboard is cool... and the speakers are really good in comparison to the ones on a sony vaio we have....but the price is outrageous... i paid over eighteen hundred dollars for this computer after taxes, extended warranty, iwork and a hardshell case.... and even though it is a great computer i can't say i don't feel a little bit of buyers remorse... + i5 has a 35% increase in power over last years comparable model even though it says 7 hours of battery life for this and ten hours for last years the way the tests were conducted has changed... this IS an improvement over the previous year in regards to battery life - intel integrated graphics are a step down from the nvidia graphics that were used prior to these chips non user replaceable battery it's rated for a thousand charges search " 13" macbookpro reviews" to see test results and do some homework before you buy

So easy to use, even for a new Mac user

I have been a PC person all my life, but was always curious about the Macs and all the hype they get. I absolutely love my iPhone, so their computers should be amazing too, I thought. After my 2nd PC in 3 years died, I seriously considered a Mac. I am so glad I got this thing, and I will never go back to PC. I love how easy it is to use, even for someone like me who is brand new to Macs. On a PC, we are so used for having to dig through files and folders to do a simple task, but a Mac organizes things in a way that makes much more sense. I use it primarly for web-surfing, storing music and photos but I would like to do more with it since it seems like it can handle more than a PC. Overall, I just look forward to learning more and more about it. Although it costs quite a bit more than PC's with similar specs, this laptop makes the whole experience of using a computer so much better. Plus, I could have already bought a Mac and saved the headache and trouble when my last 2 pieces died.

My Macbook pro is amazing! Everything is so user friendly and with the new MAC OS-X Lion it is even easier. The aesthetics of this laptop are so amazing. I love the aluminum shell, the back-lit keyboard is awesome and the HD camera is amazing. Battery life is awesome. When I go to school I don't have to worry about finding an outlet. I literally charge it once a day. Another thing I love is how fast it boots up and shuts down. Lightning quick compared to my old HP laptop. At home I'm able to print to my printer which is connected to my HP Desktop over the wireless network. Setup for the printing wasn't super simple but I was able to get it to work. The only and I mean only negative drawback is the price. I paid about $1200 and change but it is worth it in the long run. Don't hesitate anymore just get ONE!

    Why do PCs still exist?

I just recently switched from a PC to a Mac, and I'll say that its one of the best things I've done. My previous laptop, which was an HP Pavilion, installed with Win 7, was fairly decent, but it took forever to start up. I was pretty happy with my previous laptop, but it was too heavy, and the battery did not last long, and I treated it as if it were a desktop. But, worst of all, my wireless connectivity failed, and if I wanted to go online, I had to go into safe mode just to do it! As pricey as Mac is, the price tag is definitely worth the quality. Transferring all my documents is not a problem, and I just love every aspect of Mac: the display, the speed, the battery life, its just flawless. I don't even know why some people hate Macs so much.

Wow. I've been using Windows OS since I can remember. I never approached Apple products simply because of their flashy, pop-culture appeal. To me, Apple was just a non-essential, overpriced computer. Man, have I been wrong. I just purchased this MacBook Pro 2011, not really knowing what to expect, and I can definitely say I haven't been disappointed yet. Well, here are some of the things that I LOVE about this laptop and some of the few things that I don't. PROS - Compared to other non-Apple laptops, this machine is built with great quality material. I believe it's aluminum but I may be wrong. In any case, it's amazingly sturdy and looks great! - The display is very beautiful. I love it. - The applications (software) that come preloaded are more fun than useful but sure beats getting a Windows laptop with a bunch of junk, useless commercial software. - Webcam is nice, - The keys are very easy to access and have a high quality feel to them. - The keyboard controls are also very handy and easy to use. - Light and portable; and looks great! CONS - Although the advertised battery life is 7 hours, I've yet see the battery timer display any time remaining greater than 5 hrs and 30 minutes; consistently, that is. (But hey, 5 hours isn't bad at all.) - The OS is fairly easy to use but being a life-long Windows OS user, it's pretty challenging to get used to at first. I suppose this isn't a CON of the device but rather based on my personal experience. - You guessed it, it's expensive! However, I quickly being convinced that it was a worthy purchase. In conclusion, although I was apprehensive on making such a dramatic shift from Windows to Mac OS, I'm beginning to like this device. I don't intend on becoming an Apple snob or fanboy because I still believe that Windows is a wonderful (...and more productive) OS than Mac OS. Oh! You can install Windows on this device. Definitely a good purchase if you can spare 1200-1400 dollars. Even better if you qualify for the Best Buy 18 months interest-free financing deal. I love this thing :)

Needed a new laptop and after talking to friends and workers at Best Buy decided it was time to go Mac! I've heard nothing but great things about the performance and durability of Mac Books, including there long life! I was completely convinced when I looked at the repair desk at Geek Squad and saw nothing but Window's based PC! That to me helped ease my mind on spending significantly more dough! As for the transition to Mac, it was slow at first then picked up rapidly! All the programs are easy to use now and navigating around the Mac and web is a breeze! It's also nice to have a laptop that comes with everything completely installed and trials of any programs, typical of other laptops on the market. It's also nice that apple has an app store where you can get most any app out there without having to search around online or go to a store. Another great feature that i have not taken advantage of yet is the free classes and clinics at any Apple store. After turning on and registering my MacBook for the first time I received emails from apple letting me know of classes to help teach you everything about your new mac, from out of the box to in-depth classes on iPhoto, iTunes to Aperture 3 if you buy it!

I've been a PC/Windows person and swore I'd never switch to Macs. Then I bought my oldest daughter a Mac her senior year (last year). This year my youngest became a senior - same deal, time to buy a laptop. She had no preconceived notions on what she wanted, was open to anything. We shopped for several hours, comparing the laptops machine by machine. Hands down, we kept coming back to the MacBook Pro - for battery life, for ease of use, for display, for the service that backs it up. I kept asking my girls how they liked their Macs, always got back the same message- they loved them, no problems. I've talked with people in coffee shops each time I've seen someone using a Mac -- they always LOVED their Macs, no regrets. So I finally decided to give a try - WOW. Easy to use, awesome display, good battery life (though I don't think it's what they say on the box cover of like 7 hours, I think it's more half that but I'd guess I'm using it heavily and they use some other benchmark). I've found programs to replace my Windows crucial programs (Microsoft Office mostly). The rest is so intuitive I just love the machine.

    LOVE IT!

Here is the Short version. I return 16 PC laptops and each one was price between $800 - 1,500.00. Issues not so much for Windows 7 but hardware. Most of the returns was due to poor HD screens. Or, cover made of some type of metal but the rest of the housing is nothing but cheap plastic! My last PC before returning was a Dell - XPS Laptop / Intel® Core™ i7 Processor / 15.6" Display / 6GB Memory / 640GB Hard Drive - Silver Anodized Aluminum, the sound was the best in any laptop I heard. The over all specs was good, but for 1,149.99 the entire laptop should had been ALL aluminum not just the cover. The screen was so hard to view and could not take it out side during the day - couldn't see anything on the screen. So, after many years I decided to return to Apple and get what I pay for - MacBook Pro. I love it! I am completely happy with the hardware and the OS. Is is a little pricey, yeah but a far more better notebook then all pc laptops I return to BB. The Macbook Pro Screen is just amazing. I am writing this review out side and NOT AN ISSUE looking at my screen. Besides the hardware this baby runs smooth. Not a delay opening any programs. The 13 inch is easy to carry around. Don't have to worry when carrying it in my backpack it will break. Love the backlit keyboard. Battery is awesome - does last long. Don't need an antivirus program. Comes with iLife software which I truly love. If you have a .Me account everything on the Macbook Pro sycs with it. Just pure simple and easy! What is even cool I have the best of both worlds, I have a Mac but can run windows 7 on it too. Try that with a PC! So, if you're in the market for a new laptop I would highly recommend the Macbook Pro. It is not like the PC market - Hit and miss. Hardware, Mac OS, and Apple Care support out performs any PC and PC Company. Don't take my word, take a test drive and go to BB and see for your self - COMPARE.

I am a long-time Mac user, since 1990, and this is my favorite machine that I have owned, thus far! I just purchased a 13.3" 2.6 Ghz MacBook Pro a couple of weeks ago, not knowing that the new ones were coming soon. After the release, I returned my 2.6Ghz model and picked up this one. I am LOVING this machine so far. The size and weight are very portable and allow for easy transportation, compared to my old 15" MBP. The screen, although some were disappointed that it was not upgraded in resolution, is still one of the most crisp and clear displays I've ever seen. Colors are beautiful and my images have never looked better! The dual core i5 processor is extremely speedy and blows my old 2.16 Ghz MBP out of the water. I use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop on a regular basis, so I need a little extra horsepower for applications and this puppy certainly fits the bill. Adding to that, the continuation of 4GB of RAM, upgradeable to 8GB, is nice as well. The only thing that I would have to say that I am not pleased with is the size of the hard drive. I would like to have seen the sizes start at 500GB and offer 1 to 1.5TB options. Finally, for anyone worried about price...don't be. I say this becasue my wife and in-laws have each been through at least two laptops apiece (HP, Dell, and Gateway), while my 2.16 Ghz MBP still runs without incident, after nine years of constant use. Overall, I spent less over the past nine years than any of them individually, seeing as how their machines constantly had lock ups, hard drive crashes, screen breaks, backlight failures or just stopped working all together. My Mac is an investment that will far outlast any other commercially available computer, and that is a proven fact.
