Even better than the Core 2 Duo version!

Bought the Core 2 Duo version last week then swapped it out for this newer version since I was within the 14 day exchange period. Brought it to the Apple store with no problem. But since I frequent on BB, I figured I'd post my review here.
I actually contemplated if I even needed to replace the 2010 MBP for this one...since it was fast already. But I looked at the upgrades of this version and I figured "why not!" The HD webcam (Facetime) looks alot better than the 480p resolution I used to have on the older version MBP. It was noticeable on Skype and when clowning around in Photo Booth (which I love btw).
The i5 processor is an improvement but not by a whole lot IMHO. That's the beauty of Mac OS X. As long as it's not a processor from 5 years ago it will run smoothly. That's the beauty of Apple products working together. Anyways, not sure what else I can say. It's pretty much the same laptop I had before with the exception of the FacetimeHD, the better Hard Drive, the slightly faster processor, and the new Thunderbolt connection which may pay dividends down the road.
P.S. The only reason why I gave "Value for Price" 5 stars is cause you get what you pay for and more down the road. Macs just work, and they work phenomenally right out the box. And they will last you for years, so you won't have to worry about buying new laptop chargers off Ebay or going to Geek Squad to have them remove viruses and do a Hard Drive replacement. With Macs, just purchase the AppleCare and you're good for 3 years, Only one place to go for any problems (nearest Apple store or give them a call).
i'm out.... :D

The perfect laptop

Using for all my everyday tasks, along with Logic Pro 9. This baby can handle whatever you throw at it. Aluminum stays clean, battery lasts about 7.5 hours, OS X is beautiful and efficient, display is vibrant and clear, I literally could not ask for more. The size is perfect for carrying it around in my bookbag. Also, I received an open item discount as well as an educational discount, so I saved a few hundred bucks. I'd recommend that to anyone finding it difficult to justify the price. Even though the price tag was high, it was worth every penny.

I've only had the computer for a few days and I am still getting used to it since I have always had PC's. However, aside from issues of getting used to the computer I must say that I would never go back to a PC. The Mac is user friendly, fast and this particular macbook is the perfect size for school. I was hesitant to make the switch but I am very happy I did. I hope it will last me the next few years through gradschool, unlike the other laptops I've had that die out after a year and a half...

I heard that Apple was going to release the new generation MACBook pros so i waited until this weekend, and man was it worth the wait. I finally made the switch from PCs to MACs.. so far I don't think i will ever go back. This laptop by far surpasses any high end 13 inch windows machine both hardware and software wise. the battery life is impressive, the screen is beautiful , overall speed and performance is excellent. If you can afford to cough up the money for the SSD drive model, then do it. Im sure you will be even more impressed.

The Macs are an easy-to-use, intuitive, alternative to the nuts-and-bolt, me-too, PC's that are all-too-common. This computer was bought for my wife who has never used a Mac OS device before; when she had to use my PC for something she commented on how clunky it seemed after using the Mac OS (she'd only been using it for about 5 days). For those of you who just can't break away from Windows because of some work-related need, don't worry. By using Boot Camp you can re-partition your hard drive and load Windows on the other side and get the best of both worlds. When I found this out....I ran out and bought myself a MacBook Pro too! Now I run Mac for personal use and Windows for all my necessary interface with my office. Needless to say....I'm happier than a pig in you-know-what! An apple a day....keeps the virus away!

This 2011 Macbook Pro model is faster than 2010 model. In a full single charge, the battery last long enough for you to comfortably use this laptop.
The applications that are pre-installed such as Facetime are really useful. Also, running Windows 7 in Macbook Pro is faster than in regular PC. I'd been using PC for many years; after I started using Macbook Pro, I could not go back to use the PC. Macbook Pro is way faster and easier. I love my Mac.

For a few years now we wanted to replace our Dell Laptop. Been flirting around with the thought of purchasing an MacBook. At our office and home we only use Windows based computers. Currently we are IPhones owners for the past three years we were really impress with the ease of usage. So we decided to invest again (key word invest) in another Apple product. Wow what a great investment. Just like the iPhone this was not only easy usage but a fun experience. It does particually everything except make coffee. It communicates with our iPhones (iCloud) flawlessly. We open the box - then open the laptop, turned it on and I be darn it started setting itself up. Asked me a few questions and we were off into a great experience. It's quick and easy to navigate.

This is my first Mac and all I can say is, "what took me so long?" I am now an Apple guy having just bought an iphone, apple tv and now the macbook pro. It is so quick and so easy to learn (I am still learning new things). I was set on an HP, but after months of research and discussion I went with the macbook pro and it was a Great choice. It is true what they say, "once you go Mac you never go back."

It's Mac Time!!

First time Macbook user (purchased a month ago) convinced by my niece fervently to purchase one! Thought about the price being too steep for this poor doctoral student! Yet, I've been with M$/PC based computers for a very long time and it took a while to step to a Lincoln instead of a Ford! The design, the OS (updated to Lion yesterday), and the speed at which this lap top performs is no match for PC! I purchased the wireless keyboard, wireless track pad, and use my 19" monitor at home as a desktop. Although it is a new learning curve, it has not disappointed and my niece -who has taken the Mac classes- is forever sending me nuisance ideas about how to use the commands. It's still early. With MS Office 2011, it gets the job done and then some!! But those who I've spoken with have nothing but good things to say; high return sat trade in, longevity, and simply a different type of 'fun' I plan to upgrade to 8 gig memory even though I don't do any gaming or watch movies...My blue ray player takes care of all that!
Too many good things to say..But purchase a back up drive for time machine, and you're in business!

Just picked this up yesterday and I have to say I'm blown away by the speed of this little guy. Boot up is super quick and I don't have to sit and wait for Windows to load a hundred background services before I can start using it. Only thing I have to say I'm not too happy with is the internet speed. Expected wait time to download Firefox 5.0 was a little over two hours! A quick Google search showed me that by disabling bluetooth, the speed would improve which it did. Installed Flash player and Youtube was at a snails pace. Ive read that reconfiguring the DNS would help but that didn't do the trick. Before you ask me if I rebooted my router, the answer is yes. PC's work quick on my wireless. Not so much for the Mac. So I'm still at a loss on that. Hopefully the upgrade to Lion will help (which didn't work initially. Best Buy gives you a link where you enter your SN and you get the free upgrade. Site didn't recognize my SN even though I know I typed it correctly. So now I had to email a photo of my receipt and wait for the 'powers that be' to approve my request.)
So all in all, nice little laptop. Wish the internet was faster. Loads up Reaper (DAW software) in a flash!
FYI - don't fall for the little sales pitch where you have to buy iWork for an additional $79.99 because Mac's don't come with a doc reader. They do. It's called Text Edit and it's preinstalled. Just like Wordpad is on PC's. However, if you do plan on doing heavy document work, iWork is the way to go as it's compatible with Office and for a fraction of the price.

Had many windows PCs and have always been disappointed in some respect. New mac owner and I will never go back. If you aren't sure mac or pc, you haven't run a mac. Worth the extra cash. Unsurpassed quality in design, materials, and operating system. Very easy to use. Recommended!!!

I picked this up to replace my 2007 Toshiba 14" laptop.
I am very pleased with the size.
The system is really quick.
The biggest selling point is the amazing battery life.
The boot up and shutdown time with Lion is very quick.
I have installed Office 2011 and World of Warcraft, and both run well.
All and all, I would say that I am very pleased with my purchase.

I was a PC user all these years and was tired of the issues my HP Pavilion was causing (I had it for a good 3 years). I have been looking to buy a Mac since last fall but wanted to wait for the opportune time when the configuration upgrade was announced this year. So far, it is a fabulous machine. Performance is great and so are the features available. When looking out for a laptop, I wanted to pick something that was portable, value for money, great battery life and not too buggy like most PC laptops are. The only downside is that it takes a little while to get familiar with a Mac and how to navigate around. I don't regret my purchase and the money was well spent.

You get what you pay for

I was always a PC person until I bought this Mac because I was bored with PC's and tired of having to know so much just to use my computer. Although you may pay more for a Mac than a PC, you get what you pay for. The physical quality of the laptop is unmatched between the aluminum casing, the backlit keyboard and other great features. Even the design of the charger is so well thought that you will never have an issue of the charging port breaking like you do with PC notebooks. The internal hardware is also top of the line unlike other notebooks. With PC notebooks, you sometimes get a good processor or a lot of RAM but never both together for a low price. You pay the same or more as you would for the Mac and you still don't get the same quality. I would highly recommend this over the MacBook as the extra money for the Pro version is well worth it and the backlit keyboard is worth the extra money alone. This laptop will last years while other computers will become obsolete quickly.

I love this laptop for older students. It's not too heavy to bring around, it doesn't take too long to power on, and the performance is excellent. I love the HD Facetime camera and the size of this Macbook Pro! I think this laptop is better for maybe a more experienced buyer, not so much a beginner. If you are looking for a great laptop that will last a long time and has wonderful programs and convenience, you should definitely consider this laptop!

This is my first Mac, so I only have my windows-based laptop to compare it to, and that machine was on its last leg. So far, everything has worked flawlessly. I was up and running on my home network in moments. The operating systems and the included programs were easy to learn to use, and the battery life is pretty amazing compared to my old machine. Part of the reason I bought this computer is to be able to do HD video editing, and while it's mostly just short home movies of kids and travel adventures, Imovie makes movie making quick and easy. In short, so far I'm very happy with my purchase, and I'm already thinking about replacing my desktop PC with an iMac in the near future!

I purchased the Apple® MacBook® Pro / Intel® Core™ i5 Processor / 13.3" Display. This was my first Mac and I have to say, I wish I had switched years ago. It took very little time to get used to the touch pad and quick keys. Apple went out of their way to make the transition from pc to mac easy and smooth. The price was a little high, but I believe this laptop will perform at a high end for many years, which makes it a great price over the long term. I plan on buying an iMac for a desktop after the new models arrive.
If you are considering a Mac, I say go for it. You won't regret it.
