Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the Apple MacBook Pro's ease of use, performance, lightweight design, and battery life, with many praising its size and aesthetics. However, customers are negative about the limited number of USB and other ports, as well as the small storage capacity. Some users also noted that the device can get warm during extended use. While a few found the touch bar unnecessary, the overall feedback highlights a strong preference for the laptop's portability and usability.

Overall quality FELT good, but my screen started develope lines and eventually it wouldn’t turn on. The data connection to the hard drive came loose and the system said there was no hard drive. I use MacBook for final cut, Swift, and because the os and communicate with Unix well but I always find myself having trouble with MacBooks whether it be hardware issues and always have to switch to my windows pc when I need to run a program that requires more power. I wouldn’t recommend this laptop for the average consumer with everyday tasks (like email, web browsing) but only if you need the before mentioned software bc it’s exclusive to apple.

I must admit it's sleek, quick, and intuitive. But any questions that you have for the geek squad, they can't answer them via the 800#. Purchasing their support package is a joke!!! Apps...icons...transfer of data from one system to MacBook...too much of a headache!

Laptop has a good battery life and is very easy to use. It's light enough to carry around to wherever you need. However, after two weeks of use, I had to bring it back to the store for it to be fixed as it wouldn't charge anymore even with a new charger.

I was led to believe the MacBook was the best laptop out there. And it is great for syncing with your other Apple products - iPhone, iPad, etc. - or at least in theory. Unfortunately, I was oh so wrong! Besides the ridiculous amount of differences between a PC and a Mac (many of which are way more user-friendly on a PC), I had constant overall connectivity and Cloud issues since I took the computer out of the box. I spent several days troubleshooting all the issues with very little success. And good luck with the document transfer from PC to Mac - another fun project. Long story short, if you appreciate the simplicity and user-friendly components of a PC with a smaller price tag (for the same power, storage, etc.), then do not buy a MacBook.

Not as fast as my old 2011 MacBook Pro! Why? Battery only last 2-3 hours using photoshop Lightroom. Not having a regular USB port is a nightmare as you need a adapter for everything. 128gb drive is a joke! After couple softwares installed you are out of space. Come on Apple! This is probably my Mac #10 and for the first time I am disappointed.

I was expecting something more simple and the fact that it didn't have a USB port gave it negative points, also connecting to Wi-Fi or pairing it to a wireless printer was not great.

My older generation mac pro was stolen so I went for this newer version. To be honest, my older one worked way better and was easier to use with all the ports needed. This one has a different port that connects to almost nothing, unless you have the newest iphone with the same port. There is no USB ports. This Mac also has the older earphone ports (circle), so if you get the newest iphone, the earphone port is different, so that doesn't make any sense. Overall, I had to buy a different earphone specifically for this mac, get 2 different adapters just to connect things. I also had to take it in to apple care after a few months of having it. I have not once took my older mac in (I had it for 5 years) . Apple really made this design to waste you money.

    Subpar Compared to Predecessors

While the MacBook Pro is still a capable machine, the quality of the 2017-present MacBook Pro is nothing compared to its 2013-2015 predecessor. I recently switched from an early 2015 model of the MacBook Pro to the 2018 version, and the first thing I noticed was how terrible the battery life is. I don't think the problem is mechanical either - if I am running very VERY simple programs on low brightness the computer will last a while, but as soon as I run more than one program (ex. having scientific journals open for reference while typing a paper), the battery life drains EXTREMELY quickly. When writing a final paper with many windows open, my battery drained 25% in 12 minutes. This level of drainage makes it difficult to be away from a power cord for long amounts of time, which shouldn't be the case for something this 'powerful' and expensive. I have heard that the Pro with TouchBar has a much more capable battery, but that is unfair to the people who can't afford to buy into the TouchBar gimmick. I'd rather have the same specs in both machines and have to pay more for the TouchBar than have to buy the higher end machine when I don't want the extra features. The only thing that is better about the 2017-present Pro is the speaker quality. Those are great, but verything else? Don't upgrade unless you can dish out the extra $400 for a TouchBar.

I got this puppy for college in mid September. It’s lasted until now BUT has a lot of problems with over heating. This guy isn’t even a year old yet and is way more of a hassle than necessary with NO USB PORTS. Obvious that this computer is made for aesthetic and not actual functionality. I had to get an external fan to keep it functional and not destroy its battery, I don’t do anything hard on this computer at all, use google chrome, and write essays and watch Netflix

    Returned Because of Keyboard

Typing on this computer is absolutely terrible! Returned after a few weeks of use because of the keyboard. Yes the laptop is thin but they sacrificed a good typing experience to make it happen. The lack of ports is bad too. You would have to spend hundreds extra in dongles to get the functionality of a similar priced laptop from a different brand.

My house is basically run by Siri with all the Apple products I have. I recently bought a new MacBook Pro 2019 and love it, hands down (previously owned 3 older MacBook pros). The wife wanted a new laptop as well, but didn’t want the Touch Bar, so this was the next best option. Upon receipt, everything booted up great. Ran great for what seemed about a day, then the random restarts started occurring. At first thought, I thought it was software updates since it’s new right out of the box, so I updated everything and gave it a couple weeks. The restarts continued, sporadically with no pattern. Sometimes you could go hours with no issues, others would be minutes. I’m not a complete novice with technology, so I resorted to google for answers. Sounded like kernel panics, so I tried every solution I could find with no luck, even reformatting. Returned to store and exchanged for a brand new one in hopes that there are no issues with this one. Hate to give a bad review because I understand defects happen from time to time. Best Buy did a full exchange with no questions asked, and I was in and out of the store within 15 mins. 2 stars for that!

Like all the features and size. Able to to everything my desktop does. But very disappointed is the battery life. Was expecting a lot more life than what I’m getting. Used it for about an hour today and down to 53% already. Just a little bill paying and scrolling news articles. Are the all this way?

My MacBook Pro was so hot (i was typing a document and browsing the internet), that it turned off by itself. After that it took like 15 min to let me restart it. Later, This happened at least two more times.

To think that $1400 gets you a 2 gen old dual-core processor tells you how strong Apple's influence is on the common denominator. Even Best Buy is forced to sell the Apple Care instead of their Geek Squad extended warranty which is what I usually get. I got this for my high schooler since they are laughed at if they don't have the MBP. Sign of times, nothing you can do. The only positive on this computer is the USB-C/ Thunderbolt 3 which can keep the product relevant providing the hardware does not go first. Apple is definitely in retrograde stage and more is expected with Cooke at the helm.

we bought for grandson graduation he used one semester in college then disaster led lights went out took to apple discovered a part was installed through manufacturer that shouldn't have been in there frying mother board, after two wks was returned one wk later keyboard froze took back to apple a screw had come loose inside n fried keyboard repaired again luckily we had apple care but still feel they should have given us a brand new laptop rather than repairing each time really makes me think twice about an apple product with 2 other granddaughters graduating in 2020 may have to consider another product for college

These are overpriced for the specs compared to non-Apple products. Keyboard is already sticking and not reliable and very aggravating to use. I am hoping Apple will repair it under their "recall" of these but knowing how hard they have been to deal with in the past on MacBook and iPhone warranty/battery issues, I am skeptical.
