While the sound is good, it is not great, There is a little static, but when the music gets louder, it is hardly noticeable.

Keep in mind you are dealing with FM so channels will come and go depending on the distance you travel. At first I was annoyed but now I am very happy with this purchase. I did read reviews of other brands and noticed they were much cheaper than Insignia so am not upset that I paid more for this one! Worth it.
