I've gone through four of these since 2010; over time, each has had its buttons slowly lose their tactile click and responsiveness through an apparent combination of wear and the build up of everyday grime. Its relative affordability has allowed me to (so far) overlook the remote's almost disposable nature, but it's still irritating. On the bright side, there really is no better alternative for the Apple TV. I've spent the last few months using the iOS Remote app as a substitute, and after the umpteenth missed menu selection in the HBOGO app due to the swipe-based interface, I decided to just cough up the $20 and accept the inevitable.

I bought a open box replacement remote for my apple tv. I got it at a great price and it worked well with no problems.

This is the 3rd replacement remote I have bought for my Apple TV unit since I bought the Apple TV about 3 years ago. The silver part is nearly indestructible, but on each, different buttons stopped working forcing us to buy a $20 replacement. Works great - until it doesn't. Easy to misplace because it is so small. APPLE needs to go to a more standardized remote keypad design/layout. I don't like that the menu button has to also be the BACK button and I'd prefer a separate button to display INFO such as the time bar and info about the show or movie. I would only recommend it because if you need one you don't really have choices.

This is easy to use. You have limited buttons to confuse you. It si a slim good looking remote unlike most remotes.

Most important the remote works and was easy to connect to device. It's real light and small making it easy to lose but I appreciate Apple selling replacement ones.

Simple yet elegant, well-designed Apple. Too bad it cost me $25 every time I lose this stupid thing.

Slim and very ergonomic design; very intuitive design; functions perfectly with Apple TV; has a low battery warning that alerts you on the TV screen although with my prior remote, that false alerted me until I reset the remote. Easy to operate by feel, without need for illumination.

Simple to use, great control for Apple TV. Apple's remote control has a beaultiful design.

works excellently with my Apple TV. The only complaint is that it is so small that it slips between the couch and disappears.

The apple TV Control is a must to have. My daughter broke the previous one, so i had to get replacement for it, no choice. Even though you can use your phone as a control, you sometimes would rather use this. All in all its good and also works with the my Mac to control itunes.

Lost my remote and tried using the app on my iPhone and iPad. The app kept requiring me to sync all my devices prior to being able to turn on my Apple TV. Most the time syncing did not work. I picked up a new remote, it immediately fixed my problems! So, if you've lost you're remote, $20 for a new one is awesome w zero frustrations

Previous tried to control our AppleTV with a universal remote and it was complicated process to set that up and also hard for others to understand how to use it for the AppleTV once it was set up. So, I made the decision to just buy another Apple remote and this is just a better product and so simple to set up and use. Thanks!
