What took me so long!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a long time Amazon Firestick user. I have 3 of them. I've been on the fence for a couple of months when it came to AppleTV. I research everything to death and did the same thing with ATV. Finally gave in and got it. I am one happy girl. Setting it up was a pain cause I had to download all my tv apps and set them up. It was worth the aggravation. I don't have a 4K tv yet, I have a Samsung Smart TV whose ethernet board died so it wasn't so smart anymore, but I do notice a slight difference in the picture, very slight. The remote does take some getting used. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy to use.

A few new features but a lot missing.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just reviewing the whole experience more than the device itself. I was upgrading from a 3rd Gen Apple TV to get the 4K and HDR feature for Disney+ along with Vudu apps. It is nice to have all of the digital streaming and content under one hood. But there is so much room for improvement. The bad things are many. Nothing from my prior device is saved or storable with iCloud/iTunes devices so I have to re-register the new device with all of the existing apps even after signing in with my apple ID. All with a sub par remote that has touch detection issues and I ended up just using my 3rd Gen's remote to click through and enter everything since the touch pad on the 5th Gen remote rarely went where I wanted and clicking down would move the cursor from where I was clicking. It is a horrible design with performance issues. If I wanted to use Siri, maybe it has a purpose. But, I don't like using Siri or Cortana assistants so the remote is a massive negative for me. It is also rather unresponsive trying to navigate has required repeated pressing of the menu button to go back in some apps sometimes taking dozens of presses. Apps are manually added instead of the automated popular apps are automatically added into lineup with the Apple TV prior generations. You can keep the main menu clear of unwanted apps but you have to manually go download and register each one you want. Again this really should be done through iCloud/iTunes for apps and tied into your Apple ID so you can speed things up by signing into your device once. They offer tablet/phone setup, but not too helpful for android users. I also haven't found a way to rearrange the main menu apps. Disney+seems to hate Apple TV. I constantly get buffing with nothing happening and Oh No something went wrong errors trying to watch, skip ahead or go back a few seconds in a playback to catch something I miss. I've seen this on my PS4 so it is definitely Disney+ has a horrible interface, but since I bought the Apple TV because only the 5th Gens can have it. I felt it was worth noting here as well. Being required to restart my Apple TV within its first 12 hours of use is a head shake in reliability. If I could have had Vudu and Disney+ on the 3rd Gen I would have skipped the 5th Gen Apple TV. It's doesn't seem worth the upgrade considering streaming HD vs UHD on my 65" OLED is virtually indistinguishable at my 13 foot seating distance and the compression used and up-conversion my receiver and TV already do for sources. But now I got my 3rd Gen in my bedroom on my 47" LED so I can watch my iTunes library there now.

Easy set up, even for tech challenged folks!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok, I love tech, but I am not very good with the set up. This was easy. I knew how to set up WiFi. I figured out the new TV, hooked everything into the wireless, and followed the prompts. I wish Apple had a way to download sign ins when replacing the TV box. Getting/remembering sign ins was the hardest part- but that is user error(because I really should write them down).

Same user-friendly experience expected of Apple
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Apple TV has become my source of all non-gaming entertainment. Any and all television or moving watching is done on an app nowadays. Being intimately linked with your account is incredibly convenient, both for porting your movie library to your television or for switching from device to device as you go about your day.

Great upgrade
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have two of the older Apple TV units and are very happy with the newer 4K model. The newer units are faster and also allow applications to be installed from the App Store. Also this Apple TV, as well as the older units, can be controlled from your iPhones and iPads using the Apple TV Remote application.
