I have rarely needed to use AppleCare Plus. The phones have become so reliable and bulletproof, for the most part, that I have not had to use the warranty except after four or five years. Because of accidental damage and just paying a small service fee, I usually carry the extra protection. It's great when you have the Total Tech membership through Best Buy. All of your gear that you purchase under that account is covered. That has truly saved me, including with AppleCare Plus for one of my kids' phones when they broke the screen. The combination of Best Buy monthly protection, which includes AppleCare Plus, is definitely the way to go. Great job, Best Buy, for providing this. I very rarely buy directly from the Apple Store anymore. Most of that is due to the fact of this monthly protection option under the membership.

Had I not purchased the AppleCare on them, simply put, I would have been down two Apple products but thanks to the coverage on both items, they were replaced minus the deductible. I have owned Apple products for over a decade now and have always purchased AppleCare+. Luckily I have rarely used it, but when I have had to, it makes it worth every penny for ease of use and quickness of turnaround on support or replacement devices. My cell phone company always tries to sell their version of insurance which is generally more expensive monthly and with higher copays. Don't get sucked into that. Just get AppleCare + and be done with it. The monthly payment option is a nice touch, making it more affordable for a lot of people.

AppleCare+ is a must because if something happens to your device, Apple will give you a brand new one. If the device is no longer available or discontinued Apple will offer the latest version. I do believe you have to pay $35 to send the item back to the factory which is annoying. Not sure if Apple is still doing that. Definitely recommend protection plan for your peace of mind. Plus you can extend the plan once 2 years free is over.
