This film has been widely panned...but it's always compared to other Argento offerings, which is highly unfair...you know the basic Dracula plot, so your not goin to have his usual surprise deaths or gore..if you hark back to the Hammer offerings of the 60's and 70's...this would fit right in..if it had a Hammer logo instead of Dario's name at the top, I believe it would have been better received..camera work, as usual is outstanding and us a beautiful period and location piece,,..acting is very good, as always Dario's daughter Asia is excellent...if you want action and gore ..it's not for you...if you want that throwback, with a new re telling...jump in..I for one enjoyed greatly...

I enjoyed this film a lot. I always liked the look of Dario Argento's films. The locations seem authentic to the story setting and the actors do a great job as well. The plot follows the general story line of "Dracula", but seems to be set in a small town in Eastern Europe (Transylvania?) instead. The Blu-Ray version looks really good in HD. There are a lot of good behind-the-scenes footage in the extra features, but most of it is in Italian. It isn't all that surprising to me, since it is an Italian film. There are English subtitles for these extras, which helps.

Not as good as Argento's earlier films

Seems that ever since Coppola's version of Dracula, subsequent versions of the Stoker novel have been less faithful. This version owed more to Horror of Dracula (the 1958 Hammer version), with more nudity and gore added. However, there are some original ideas, especially the idea that the leaders of the town seem to ignore Dracula's crimes, because he has contributed much funds for their interstructure. Argento has made some of the best horror films, such as Suspiria and Deep Red. This is not one of his best. But it is worth viewing anyway (If you are over 18).

Not the best work by Dario Argento

I like Dario Argento's body of work. He's done some very good films over the years. The idea of him doing a DRACULA adaptation was compelling--unfortunately, the film comes up short. It looks great and I'm sure was even better in 3-D, however, there is a lot of mediocre acting in this and, added to the rather hackneyed plot, it brings the overall level of the movie way down. Asia Argento, usually reliable, is not at her best in this one--and her accent is kind of annoying. In short, this is kind of fun to watch if you're a vampire movie or Dracula fan but I would recommend it to no one else.

After seeing so many mediocre and even poor reviews of this movie, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised when I watched this film. For those who enjoy Dracula portrayed with an old-school feel (old Europe), this movie will not disappoint.

Great to see a movie about vampires that is not a love story! This movie is faithful to the original story of Dracula. The power that Dracula held over women resulted in death or slavery. Not as intense as the Christopher Lee version, but I was more impressionable in the 50's...

I got it for the 3-D so it was worth the 10 bucks. The movie itself was a pretty mediocre effort with decent production values but bad CG. Only for hardcore Argento fans or those who would enjoy some topless scenes in the glory of 3-D.

Not as bad a movie as some may think. A bit of the Hammer vibe throughout. Might be pretty "meh" in 2D but the 3D really brings it alive. We thought it was a fun flick.

If you know Argento's work, especially his more modern work, then you will know what to expect from this film. It has some good gore and they make the 3D count when there is some form of action on the screen.

I enjoyed this film and really liked the way the 3D filming was done. If you purchase the film, watch the added features especially about the 3D filming and editing techniques- very informative and interesting. The film storyline is interesting, acting is good, and there is old-fashioned Technicolor style lush colors and sharpness to the film. It reminds me of the old Hammer horror films with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. I highly recommend this film- especially to Dracula and vampire fans.

Barely meets the 'so bad, it's good' requirement, but if a gory old Hammer Studios style movie on bad steroids...in 3D!...is your cup of tea...then sip this one carefully. Yes, I would recommend this to a friend, just to see the look on there face when I see them later. Ha!

I was very pleased with Argento's Dracula as an effective 3D film and also as an interesting version of Dracula- much in the style of the old Hammer horror films. There was lots of blood and gore, some nudity, and good acting. I was very impressed with the color, sharpness of the film, and the effective use of 3D to enhance the overall film. The Director Argento did a good job of pulling everything together to produce an entertaining film.

Dario Argento makes a new Classic

Argento's Dracula is a new classic. Asia Argento does a great job and if you are a fan this is a must have feature. There is some nudity so it's not meant as a replacement for the original Dracula for young children. The special effects are a mixture of modern and classic making for a good update.

    Another Argento Misfire

I was not expecting much considering that Argento's career over the last two decades has seen a decline in the quality output. The movie is a bit of a mess. The movie does offer some decent gore and Rutger Hauer does a fine job as Van Helsing but not enough to save this movie. The cheap sets, and absolutely poor CGI effects are an issue as well as the story line very loosely based on Bram Stoker's classic novel. The movie just limps along save for some decent gore effects and only those true Argento fans will appreciate this movie for what it's worth.

This is the best 3D I've seen in a long time. Story? ehh! But, filmed in the old style, all photo-planes in focus so your eye can focus all through the frame at anytime. Makes for a crisp, clear picture with real depth.

Rutger Hauer as Van Helsing? It's not Van Helsing or any other version of Dracula but it was certainly interesting. Something that might be worth watching with a group of friends so you can add your own commentary.

3D was fair (that is why I bought it), plot is predictable, overall a so-so movie but it killed an afternoon. I am a horror fan, so it was a good purchase. Just not exactly Gone With The Wind.
