Arlo Pro 5S 2K - Wireless indoor/outdoor security camera
Quick Overview
=================================
Arlo has been making cameras for years now and their focus has been wireless, battery-powered models that can be "placed anywhere". This new Arlo Pro 5S 2K is a new, high-resolution version that's safe inside or outside your home.
Overall build
=================================
If you've seen Arlo's other (and more recent models) this should be familiar. It's smooth, white and has a familiar "extruded oval" shape. The front face where the camera lens sits is black with openings for an LED spotlight and IR emitters for night vision. It comes with the camera, a mount, screws/drywall anchors, a battery, and a charging cable (indoor use only).
Initial Setup
=================================
Setup is easy and they'll want you to use the app (Arlo Secure) to do it. I actually installed the battery first (push the button on the bottom of the camera to slide out the internals), so if you need to start over, just pop it out again and close it.
Install the app, fire it up, and follow the directions. Basically you'll be logging in (or creating a new account) and adding your new device. Tip: It will use whatever WiFi network your phone is currently configured for to connect the camera, so if you have a separate WLAN set up for cameras/surveillance, make sure to join that before completing the setup. Once that's done, the app will display a QR code that you'll hold in front of the camera to confirm. Alexa and Google will have no problem working with this camera, but apparently Apple HomeKit support was removed on this specific model!
Once that was done, I gave it a name (Porch) and set it up next to a Ring Indoor Stick Up cam so I could compare.
Performance
=================================
It was easy to see that the resolution and field of view were immediately better on the Arlo Pro 5S compared to my Ring cam. 2k vs. 1080p doesn't sound like much of a difference, but also the FOV (160 vs. 130 degrees diagonal) helped me see more. The dual-band WiFi (again, better than my Ring) helped ensure solid streaming whenever I wanted to check in on the live view. Additionally, going "live" and speaking through the camera to have a conversation was a bit better than expected. Sure, there was some delay, but it wasn't terrible!
Night vision via infrared was fine - the resolution bump helped the picture quality over my Ring cam. The "Color Night Vision" utilizes a spotlight LED to illuminate the area which really helps in low light. Again, I don't have that option on the Ring Stick Up cam, so it was nice to see here.
Within the app, the first thing you'll see is you should sign up for a monthly plan for advanced features. The cheapest plan for a single camera is 4.99/month, but unlimited cameras will run you 12.99/month. That gets you up to 4k recording stored for up to 30 days, smarter motion detection features, and more. There are even more feature-rich and expensive options as well. There's a great chart on the Arlo website showing what you get at each level.
After setting that up (or skipping it for now), you will see the usual device/camera options like setting up motion zones for alerts, filtering alerts, adjust motion/audio-detection sensitivity, and more. Power Management is also an option since the most efficient "Best Battery Life" mode can let this camera go for up to 8 months without charging the battery, by only recording snapshots when motion is sensed.
When you need to charge your camera's battery, you'll have to pop it out of the mount and connect the magnetic charger to it. This should be done indoors as Arlo sells a separate "outdoor rated" charging cable.
Conclusion
=================================
Ecosystem is everything. If you're fully in the Ring camera camp (like me), it'd be hard to find a home for this camera even if it's that much better than some of my existing ones. Having said that, this is a great addition to someone who has an Arlo secure (multiple cameras, security system) setup in their home. You're getting a high-resolution, place-anywhere camera with solid connectivity (thanks dual-band WiFi) and tons of configuration options (though many behind a paywall). For those that love their Apple HomeKit enabled devices, this camera isn't for you.

Great Picture on the Pro 5S

The all-new Arlo Pro 5S 2K wireless camera delivers a sharp, detailed picture with a 160-degree view, and the newly updated app allows you to set specific settings that should help with the camera's overall functionality.
Pros:
Setup
Alerts
Resolution/Video Quality
Updated App for (more) Features
Cons:
Stand
Alerts within the app
Out of the box, the Arlo Pro 5S 2K was easy to set up. I plugged the camera in to charge (for an hour) to get a full charge. Since I already own the Arlo app and Home Station, it was easy to pair/sync up the camera to my already home network. The app literally walks you through the entire process. If you do not own the app, you will need to download the Arlo Home app from the Play or Apple store. Although you do not necessarily need the Home Station (which allows you to insert a memory card for local video storage), you can subscribe to cloud storage, which, for five cameras, its $12.99 a month for up to thirty-days of captured recordings (you can save these recordings as well so they do not automatically delete).
What I enjoyed with the new Arlo Pro 5S 2K camera is setting up the alert settings. With the new app, I am able to configure the sensitivity levels of motion detection, as well as set activity zones for specific recording areas. I found this to be an improvement over the old Arlo Home app because other cameras I have owned were picking up too much in the recordings, and ultimately, their battery died quicker. Additionally, newer settings allow the user to select Color (new) or Black and Whie night vision. Still, you are able to set up the volume level for the microphone, as well as audio sensitivity settings.
Video quality for the Arlo Pro 5S 2K is incredible. I found, especially at night, the video quality to be clear on the "Best video" settings. Keep in mind that if you select a battery saver or "optimized," etc., the quality is not as good, and I believe the resolution suffers. Also, the newer 160 degree view provides a wider lens to capture moments even further than before. Additionally, the quality of the picture was clear, precise, and with HDR, colors were vibrant.
Again, the updated app allows you to take control of the camera settings further than before. The new home screen within the app allows you to set up widgets (quick access) to your cameras, as well as "arming" routines (more on this in a moment). Additionally, when set up correctly and with a paid subscription, you can set up emergency services (if you detect something suspicious, you can select "call emergency").
One of the issues I had with the app was the stand that comes with it. Over time, if you are removing the camera to charge it, the threading and ball movement (although great when setting up the camera initially) can become loose/stripped over time, and your camera will eventually tip or lower on its own. I wish Arlo built a better stand for this purpose (especially because it is outdoors), or they went back to their magnetic bases.
Two, although not entirely related to the camera itself, one of the settings within the app may or may not give you alerts. I found out (from an Arlo agent) that specific "armed" settings may cause the cameras to not send notifications/record events. For instance, if the app is set to "standby" nothing will record. In "arm home" mode, only some movement is recorded. Finally, "Arm away," will record all events that take place around your recording areas. When setting up, be advised that your cameras may not record unless the armed feature is set a certain way.
Overall, the Arlo Pro 5S 2K provides a clear picture during the day and night. The app has several new features to get the most out of the Pro 5S 2K, and setup was easy.

Great Camera, Strong Battery, But Not Perfect

This is a great security camera. I use it to monitor our patio, which has a sidewalk on the other side. With the Arlo software, I am able to map out a zone that does not include the sidewalk, thus avoiding alerts every time someone walks by.
I ended up ordering a second battery and charger so that it relatively easy to swap on the low battery for a fully charged battery.
While I am on the 30-day free trial of the Arlo service, I plan on paying the monthly subscription for all the benefits it brings.
The Pros: Excellent video quality; Long lasting battery (about 4 weeks with power management set to "Optimized".
The Cons: Confusing app, which took a couple of days of trial-and-error to get the settings correct; As mentioned with other reviews, there is a long delay between an alert situation being detected and the notification actually arriving at my phone (this is undrestandable); Lack of a desktop widget that allows me to change from "Arm" mode to "Standyby" mode on my Android devices...it isn't rocket science!

Arlo Helps Me Stay in The Know Around My House!!!

My home is my biggest investment and where my family and I take refuge in a busy crazy world....It blows my mind that there are people in this day and age that do not have cameras that allow them to keep an eye on their home! We have Arlo cameras both inside and outside. The cameras are in the living room and hallways to make sure to catch any would be intruders on video. It is also super useful if my alarm goes off for any reason or if I can't recall if I shut the garage door... within seconds I have eyes on the inside and outside of my home! I also love knowing who's driving by my house, If packages have been delivered or what wild animals have traversed my lawn and driveway in the middle of the night! So handy!!! PLus the huge deterrent to porch pirates and burglars!!!
Having said all that, you can bet I have done my homework and there is no one doing it better than Arlo. I have 6 Arlo cameras plus the doorbell but this is my first pro series. I was pretty excited to get my hands on the PRO 5S 2K and compare it to the essential and essential XL's I have. The first thing I noticed was the Magnet charger system and that the battery in the Pro is removable and you can buy a battery charger and have batteries on standby. I like that. The new Pro5S 2K can hot-swap the batteries and keep it in the game. If you don't hot swap the batteries you will need to charge for a while before putting the camera back up. If you place the camera outside the solar panel is a must must-have. Two of my other Arlo cameras that are outside have the panels and it's so awesome. They are 100 percent charged and I never have to mess with them. And they have held up through wicked cold winters and scorching summer days not to mention rain, wind and snow!
Back to the Pro 5S... The first thing I noticed about the Pro 5S 2K is the crystal clear picture and color night vision is awesome! Two-way communication, spot light and siren... really allows me to reach and stay connected to my house in a very practical and useful way! It connects fast with my mesh wifi. The peace of mind and comfort of knowing I am informed of what is happening at my house at all times is priceless.
So talking about being informed... the APP. At first, I was was a little upset that it forced me to upgrade my app once I installed the Pro 5S 2K. If I was building my system from scratch I would have never known any different and would have been wowed by the ease and friendly intuitive interface that the Arlo app has. But I was not building from scratch. I had multiple cameras and had all the preferences set up and routines and it was all gone with the upgrade. So after a day or two of reassigning all the preferences and getting to know the new interface and the changes from the old app to the new...My frustration eased into an honest appreciation of the work that Arlo put into it. It's a really amazing app that really enhances the product and brings out the usefulness of the amazing optics and AI that alerts you to people or vehicles or animals that the camera catches. It emails me a screen grab and an alert to my email. Very cool and useful...At a quick glance of my phone, I can decide to pull up the cam or not based on the email alert! You can also set up a text alert if you want. You can also set the sensitivity of the motion as well so you don't get too many alerts!
Overall, Arlo makes a great product that works!!! Solid builds and even more importantly an awesome app that delivers the info and peace of mind knowing that My house and loved ones are safe...and my packages too!! You cannot go wrong and in this day and age....YOU NEED THIS PRODUCT!

Solid security camera

The Arlo Pro 5S 2K Indoor/Outdoor Wire Free Spotlight Security camera is a solid security camera, it was easy to configure with the Arlo Secure App, and it integrated well with our older Arlo doorbell device. It comes with decent battery life, great video quality for extra details and good floodlight for those dark nights. As a wire free device, it can be installed anywhere there is access to Wi-Fi. We have it installed outdoors, and it’s been working fine this short time we’ve had it. We’ve been able to access and configure it through the Arlos Secure App with no issues, and it’s been able to detect movement, light up, record, and send notifications (as expected/configured.)
You’d need to buy a subscription, if you don’t already have, or may need to update/upgrade it, if you already have one, to have access to cloud storage and useful features provided by this camera. I got a 30-day trial period for this device (the 30-day trial period seems standard), so after that I’ll need to upgrade my plan. It doesn’t have local storage to store videos/pictures, so take that into consideration when deciding to buy this and opt for one of the Arlo subscription plans.
No device is perfect, but I think this one is close to a 5-star rating.
- Pros: Wire free, easy configuration, great video quality, indoor/outdoor use, decent battery life.
- Cons: no local storage, spotlight not too bright.
>> Note for existing Arlo device owners.
Prior to owning the Arlo Pro 5S 2K Camera, I already had an Arlo Essential Video Doorbell Wired device (2020 model) installed and set with a monthly subscription plan. When adding my Arlo 5S 2K Camera, I was asked to upgrade to the new Arlo Secure App, and in doing so, I was welcomed with a warning that my existing (old) Arlo Doorbell was “not currently supported.” There was a note to have all the devices powered and running the latest firmware, and I verified my Arlo doorbell was on and had the latest available firmware. It seemed that I was out of luck with my existing Arlo doorbell. I searched online for clues on what do, but nothing useful came up beyond finding an end-of-support list of Arlo devices with my doorbell device absent from that list. Still not sure whether to proceed with the update or not, and risk losing access to my old Arlo doorbell, I contacted Arlo Customer Support for guidance and clarification. The Arlo Customer Support team were extremely helpful and assured me that my doorbell was supported (despite the message to the contrary.) So, back to upgrading the Arlo Secure App and installing my new camera, I chose the “Upgrade Anyways” option (still felt a little uneasy with that “Anyways” word being there) and in an instant the Arlo Secure App was updated. I added the Arlo Pro 5S 2K Camera and configured it. And after all being done, I still had access to my Arlo doorbell, nice!
>> Setup
If you already have the Arlo Secure App, you might need to update it, also make sure your current Arlo devices are with the latest firmware (see the notes above.) Otherwise, just download the Arlo Secure App from the app store (you’d need to create an account with Arlo.)
In the Arlo Secure App, select “Add” device and follow the on-screen instructions, they are descriptive enough to allow you setup the camera without much effort. Just a few things to note based on my experience setting up the Arlo Pro 5S camera:
- If you already have the battery inserted, to connect to a wireless network, you don’t need to extract the battery completely, just take the outside cover and there is a button near the battery charge connector that you can press for the camera to start blinking blue. I found out about this when changing the wireless network from a 2.4Ghz to one supporting 5Ghz.
- It is recommended (well it is instructed) to connect to a 2.4Ghz network for the initial setup.
- I had an older version of the Arlo Secure App, and I thought it would take minutes to upgrade it. I was surprised that it took only a couple of seconds to complete the upgrade (I suspect the App updates were already downloaded and were just waiting to be activated.)
- After the camera scanned the QR code for connecting to a wireless network, it took a while for the App to “recognize” the camera. It was about a minute, but it felt very long, especially given that I had the camera and the phone with the App next to the router.
- Once the camera was added, an option for updating its firmware showed up, which I selected, and the light started blinking blue and then amber interchangeably. The update failed then and on a few subsequent attempts, I decided to skip that step and complete the setup. Later, with everything working, I went to the Firmware option for the camera, and it showed “no updates available”. This was a little annoying since one gets to believe the camera is not up to date during the setup.
- You do need to enter the Wi-Fi password, as leaving it blank still allows you to move to the next screen and you might be “forever” trying to add the device.
You can choose to “share” access to the devices with other family members. From the primary account, in the Arlo Secure App, you choose who to share, what devices to share, and what access they’ll have on the shared devices. We have two phones that can access the doorbell and the camera, and can react to the notifications, very nitty.
>> Outdoor
I was searching for an outdoor security camera that could resist the dire weather conditions of the Pacific Northwest, and this one seems to be holding on just fine for now. Winter will tell how sturdy the Arlo Pro 5S camera is since the weather is rainy and cold with some snow. Nevertheless, it’s been raining and a little cold for the past several days and accessing the device has been fine from within the Arlo Secure App.
One problematic aspect I see by having the device outdoors is recharging the battery. When the recharge time comes, it means uninstalling the device from its outdoors location, getting it inside for recharging, and installing it back in its outdoors location. This means, you’d need to place the device in a more or less accessible area, but not too accessible so that it can be easily stolen. The battery seems to last for several weeks; however, I still foresee myself complaining when recharging the battery. If I had it for indoor use, I’d suspect recharging the battery would feel easy and not an inconvenience at all.
>> Floodlight
For outdoor use, the floodlight’s brightness is just ok, not too bright but enough to distinguish objects and the general vicinity. If floodlight is one of your primary features sought after, you may need to find another Arlo device in which that feature is more prominent, as I don’t think the floodlight feature is the shiniest one for the Arlo 5S camera. For indoor use, the floodlight intensity is more than enough as far as I could test, you can even choose to dim it if it is too bright.
>> Battery
As far as I can tell, the battery life is very good. Based on my usage in the last few days, in Optimized mode (not the best video quality but decent enough), I expect the device to last for over a month before needing to recharge the battery.
I haven’t measured it since I had done it only once, but it feels the device charges fast (well depending where you plug it in). You’ll get to know when it is fully charged when the blue light is on (the minimum you expect is to know when the device is fully charged!)
>> Security features
With the Arlo Secure App, you can access to the many features of this device and adjust the settings to your needs:
- define activity zones.
- adjust the field of view (from wide 160 degrees, 125 degrees standard and to 110 degrees full mode).
- video quality.
- Spotlight brightness.
- and many more.
In the Arlo Secure App, you can also configure Routines (a set of schedules) on when to arm your devices for much needed security.
I am very pleased with the device and the app. For example, we’ve been able to detect bunnies running outside in the rain (we thought they were gone for good, but it nice to know what is going on out there while we are sleeping.)

Reliable with a subscription, not for Apple users

I'm already using older (End of Life as per Arlo) Pro and Pro 2 cameras that served me well. These cameras connect to a base station and the base station has an USB drive serving as local storage. Arlo's cloud offering for these cameras provided 7-day recording and they integrate with HomeKit as well as Alexa and Google Home and SmartThings. These cameras don't support Apple's Secure Video storage but otherwise works for my needs.
The Pro 5S camera improves in almost every way. The hardware specs are great:
- Integrated spotlight
- Selectable B/W or Color night vision (Color uses the spotlight).
- Can be used with no base station, supports 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz Wi-Fi, and direct connection to Arlo's Alarm panel.
- 2K recording and streaming.
- Built-in Siren.
- Package, Person and Animal detection, but only with a subscription.
- 2-Way audio via the Arlo app and some integrations.
However, after dealing with Arlo's overseas support for about a week, someone in escalation support realized that these cameras, unlike their end-of-life sibilings, do not support HomeKit.
This implies no Apple TV support, and anyone in the family that would like access to the camera's livestream needs to install the Arlo app, which is not simple because it requires two factor authentication tied to the main user, meaning I need to sign in anybody that needs to use it. They cannot access the feed from the Apple Home app from their phones nor Apple watches.
They do however integrate with Amazon's Alexa and the integration works a lot quicker than with the older cameras. We have some Amazon Echos with screens through the house and it works well.
It also works with SmartThings, Google Home and IFTTT integrations (Use it to turn lights on when the camera detects movement).
These cameras do not support any type of recording without subscription, except for the local recording to USB on the base station (that I happened to already have), but that local recording does not work through the app. I have to access them disconnecting the USB drive and finding the recording on the computer. Useful for emergencies but hardly convenient. These cameras are designed to be used with an active subscription.
This is why it comes with a 30-day trial of their subscription, because they're not very useful without it.
It's worth it if one buys into Arlo's security packages and uses their alarm panel, which works better with their top tier subscription (Yes there are different subscription plans).
Battery life is good for 3 to 4 months. There's an optional solar panel for these and Arlo offers additional mounts including magnetic and ceiling mounts, as well as white, black and camo enclosures. The cameras are waterproof even when connected to power. They use a magnetic connector that works very well. If using a permanent mount, one can leave the enclosure attached to the mount and remove the camera body with a push of a button. The battery is nested inside. Very simple to change the battery, and much better than older models.
Overall, great cameras if an Arlo subscription is good for you and you're not relying on Apple's offerings.

I have other Arlo cameras inside the house for doggie cans, and I have an Arlo doorbell. All excellent products with good reliability and months between charges. This camera’s spotlight must really rack up power drains because the battery only lasts about two weeks. That would not be an issue except that the charger is completely proprietary for some reason.
Functionality and quality is fantastic as expected. The video feed is sharp and full color, even at night. The sensitivity of the motion sensor for the spotlight and camera can be adjusted. However, it is not intelligent enough to distinguish an animal or passing car from a person, so you get a lot of false positives depending on placement. More intelligence to discern those things would be much appreciated.
Think carefully about where you’ll mount the camera because you’re going to need to charge it often. Ideal placement may be at the top of an eave, but don’t put it there unless you plan to haul a ladder and extension cord out every few weeks! I tested battery stamina prior to mounting the camera and am glad I did. I ended up putting it lower and closer to an outlet.
The phone app is EASY. All my Arlo devices are on one screen and I can view activity live at a glance. Pay for subscription to keep your feeds.
I recommend for ease of use, quality, and reliability, but I stole a star for that silly charger and battery life.

Good, but the resolution is lacking

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I was looking for a camera to monitor the street in front of my house. This camera met some of the requirements but fell short in a couple of key areas.
The hardware feels solid. The battery did not come installed and I had to look up an online video to find out how to install the battery - it was not included in the instructions.
After that, setting up was easy. The connection to my internet was trouble-free.
I like that the Arlo Secure app gives you the option to personalize the dashboard. I can see where this would be extremely helpful if you had several cameras. In my case, with one camera, I was able to bring the video into my landing page.
The color is excellent - true representation.
The resolution is where I have the biggest complaint. For my property - a very narrow yet long plot of land - the resolution was insufficient to make out a license plate on a vehicle entered my driveway, about twenty-five feet away. It does not provide the minimum pixels-per-foot for license plate or facial recognition.
The ability to see color at night is a convenience that I appreciate. I do have exceptionally good lighting which helps with this feature.
The field of vision is adequate for capturing everything happening in front of my house.
The spotlight is a nice feature, but unnoticeable in my yard because of my regular lighting.
Linking the camera to Alexa was quite easy. All I had to do was open the Alexa app, authenticate my Arlo account, and approve the linking of the two accounts.
My biggest concern usually with such a wireless camera is battery life. Starting with a full charge, it has been running now for over two weeks and the battery level is at 82% - this is very impressive. Since I must use a ladder to climb up to remove the battery for recharging, this is a splendid feature.
However, it is not enough to overcome the low resolution in my application. It may work for you if you want details at about 10-15 feet, but beyond that, you will need to spend more and get a higher resolution, outdoor camera.
Add to that the fact that the charging cable is proprietary (not a standard USB cable), and that Arlo is pushing you to a subscription for the better app features, and you have another device looking to rope you into recurring monthly revenue for them, recurring subscription spending for you.

I'm a long time owner of Arlo products. I have over 15 cameras and spotlights around my home and cabin. I do pay for an Arlo Secure plan as I feel that provides the best value for what I need. The Pro 5S comes with an Arlo Secure trial to store the 2k cloud recordings.
OK - so for the camera itself. Arlo came out with some nice features versus their previous generations. Features like: Dual Band Wi-Fi - so it can connect to both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz network for broader compatibility is to me the best new feature. Low Power Mode give up to 30% more battery life and Alro Secure Link gives you a more secure connection all around. The camera boasts 2K resolution/output and a 160 degree viewing area - providing a clear large field of vision.
Many people ask if you need a SmartHub or Base Station - NOPE. You don't need those as this camera can connect directly to your Wi-Fi Router! That's a nice bonus. You do get some minor benefits using a SmartHub (optimized Wi-Fi traffic, slightly better battery life, etc) but it's not required.
Color night vision happens with the built in spotlight - see attached pictures. A built in siren can be configured to startle and scare visitors or animals.
The only minor issue I had as that it forced me to upgrade my phone app when adding this camera to my existing SmartHub system. That caused me a little confusion, as the new app does things a bit different - but nothing that you can't work through.
Overall, this is a solid camera with large crisp images to capture the scenes that matter to you most!

Purchased this gem about a week ago. It really reliably satisfied my desire to obtain a camera that solved the deficiencies of other cameras that I have tried out.
The motion detection capabilities are absolutely superb; all it takes is to properly position the camera so that the desired detection area is within the bottom two thirds of the live-view frame, and also adjust the motion sensitivity setting.
In addition, there is a "Motion Test" feature; when it is activated, you simply walk around the various area/positions that you desire to notified of when there is motion, and the camera's LED prominently flashes orange once motion is detected.
Also, the user can reliably and almost invariably access "Live View" mode without any undue delay. It normally averages about 10 seconds at most for the display, I have a 100GB Wi-Fi setup, with an extender that is located approximately 9 meters away.
Yes, the image is extremely sharp, bright, and crisp--even at night, with modest lighting; I don't use the "Spotlight" feature. By te way, night-time viewing does display in rather vibrant colors.
The user can set the types of alerts to receive notifications concerning, i.e., "Smart Alerts." For example, the settings allow for Person, Motion, Sound, Vehicles, Animals, and more. I am only interested in Persons.
As an aside, the camera does have the capability to automatically zoom in on and track a person. However, if the user activates that particular feature, then the 2k-video streaming/recording is automatically turned off and replaced with a somewhat lesser resolution. I never use the zoom-and-track feature.
CON: It appears that the user cannot delete multiple feeds at a time, i.e., from the list of individual feeds. Instead, each feed must be individually deleted using a three or four step process. Why does doesn't Arlo support multiple deletions? WASTE OF TIME!!!
If not for the lack of a feature to support multiple deletions, I would have given a five-star review. I have two of the following cameras: Nest, Blink, and Ring (doorbells); they all permit multiple deletions of feeds.
I contacted customer support, and the agent confirmed that there have been complaints regarding this issue; he stated that Arlo is well aware of such feedback. I don't understand why Arlo dares to think that people ought to suffer to waste their time and energy on deletion tasks.
Lastly, I warn that it may be a bit of a challenge locating some of the features using the app. I downloaded the User Manual. Largely, it is rather well put together,
However, at times, it seemed as if the features were not located in same part of the app as explained, e.g., turning Spotlight off/on, or certain features related to motion detection or app alerts.
Click on the "Person" icon on the Home page->On the resultant page, click "Home"-> "Smart Notifications.
Compare the preceding instructions with the following; it's rather confusing: On the Home page, click the "Feed" button->Then, in the upper left of the screen, click on the three dots-> On the resultant "Feed Settings" page, click "Event Types" to enable/disable the future display of events that trigger/wake the camera, e.g., motion, person, vehicle, animal, package, temperature change, light change, smoke/CO alarm, etc. With the exception of "Motion," the other items on the list are the same as the listing in the previous paragraph, which concerns Smart Alerts. (Go figure.)

Worth the money. I originally bought a cheaper camera that had poor sound and the visual was awful. I traded in for this Arlo camera and the quality and sound is so much better. Plus the app is extremely easy to use! I do however wish it had better night visual; maybe it doesn’t and I don’t know the button to click for it.

Look, this is the easiest, most reliable camera system Ive ever had and Ive used 3 brands before now. This camera captures what it should and never fails me with the alerts I need plus clear imagery.

I bought this after having other Arlo cameras and have not had any major issues. This camera has been nothing but issues and I’ve had multiple service tickets placed with Arlo. The camera would take random snapshots and not record video. Now the camera won’t even power on after being plugged in. Very disappointed with this purchase.

We have quite a few Arlo prouducts, ans i love how they all work together and integrate seamlessly to make us feel super secure! I love that the subscription is optional, but it’s definitely worth it! The best part? No hardwiring required!

We’ve been looking for an outdoor camera that would let us keep track of our home while we are away. It was easy to install and hassle free. I enjoy the motion detection along with being able to talk with visitors. The night vision is very clear. This is on the pricier side but well worth it.

One of the best camera I got so far from Arlo. I pair this to my old generation cameras and you can see the difference in video quality. Night vision is great. Battery holds charge for more than two weeks.
