I bought this in case I really hated the other system I purchased. I didn't. The subscription service was just not a good value to me. I'm much happier with the other system I bought at the same time, so I returned it. I'm giving it 'average' ratings since I didn't take it out of the box. It might be great but it's still too expensive for me.

Honestly regret this purchase, but not because if the product.Best Buy offered the Arlo 5S Pro as a bundle with a one year subscription and two additional safety devices. After three trips to the store and four different calls to sustomer service (one being wellnover an hour long) Best Buy cannot figure out how to honor their offer. Ineptitude and poor basic professionalism. Not really worth being a My Best Buy member either.

The basic service offered through the subcription is acceptable. What was seemingly impossible was actually activating it. The information needed to activate the 1 year subscription is not included in the actual box even though it says it's the box for the one year subscription. The 16 digit code Arlo asks for is not there. And no, I'm not just not seeing it- it really isn't there. So I had no choice but to get into a nearly two hour chat with the chatbot and then multiple tech people who literally at one point sent me back to the person I had started with and we started over for the third time. Long story short, apparently, even though as others have noted the buttons have extremely limited purpose and save you only the step of pulling out your phone (which already has to be on you and on in order for the button to work), you have to pair the button with your phone in order to activate the Family Safe subscription. Once we realized how ridiculously useless the button was since you have to have the phone with you and the app does the same thing as the button, we weren't going to fool with those. But nowhere do the instructions indicate that this is apparently the only way to activate the included 1 year service plan. So after about an hour we finally got to try this step but it wouldn't pair for no apparent reason. Throughout this process, I asked time and again for them just to verify that I'd purchased the plan and activate it for me and that I didn't care about the buttons, but they either wouldn't or couldn't help me in that way. So after nearly two hours they told me they couldn't help me and to contact Best Buy. So, yeah. One star is generous.
