I bought and installed this solar panel about 1 month ago to my backyard camera. I went this route due to the high amount of activity. Installation was easy including the hook up to the camera. The build quality at this point is holding up to the harsh sun in my area. The solar panel does keep the battery fully charged and the performance has been great. The best part, I no longer need to get on my ladder to charge the battery. In fact, I'm going to buy another for my 2nd Arlo Pro camera.

Was some what apprehensive after reading some ratings, but it works fine. It's been in operation for a little over a month now. At first the battery started discharging, as though it wasn't working. But, then it slowly started charging until it made it all the way back to 100%. It will discharge some, depending on how often the camera is recording, but then it charges back up. I'm very satisfied with it & it was easy to install, with clear instructions. Just point it where it gets the most sun.

I absolutely love the fact that I don’t have to bother with recharging the batteries to the cameras because the solar panel takes care of that. My cameras have been up for a month and the battery is at 100%. Highly recommended

Fatal flaw - Solar charging does not work in cold

When used with an Arlo Pro 2 camera, the battery does not charge if the temperature is cold outside. Currently 18 degrees outside in December. Attached picture. If you do not live in the cold North East, the solar panel is nicely constructed. Wanted to test how much power it provided, but while the plug is a mini usb, there is a weather seal gasket that prevented it from being inserted into tester. Returning along with Arlo Pro 2 system.

This Arlo panel is a must if you don’t wish to charge your batteries every weeks or so. I’m currently running two panels just to try them out. I will now purchase the other four.

    Good power, one mechanical issue

I purchased my fist Arlo Solar panel several weeks ago. I finally installed it this week. I started with a test in full sun in a convenient location. I was able to raise the level of charge on an Arlo Pro by 3 percentage points in 45 minutes. This seems very good to me. I then mounted the panel in a spot where is should get decent full sun exposed for a fair amount of the day. I made sure to angle the panel so that is faces the sun fairly strait on at this time of year. The only problem I had with the installation came when I tried to attach the power cable to the Arlo Pro. The Adjustable Mount has a threaded plastic ring on the threaded post. The ring is used to snug the Arlo in a particular orientation relative to the post. I found the plug for the solar panel directly interferes with this ring. I had to remove the ring and fiddle with the orientation of the threaded post in order to have my camera in the right orientation when it was fully tightened on the threads. See photo for interference. Other than that mechanical issue, I was able to attach the solar panel power cable to the camera and it showed it was charging. I watched it overnight and today. At night the camera was on battery power as expected and during the day, it was charging. This afternoon, the charge indicator reads 99% after a day when my camera saw far more family action in the yard than normal. I think I had about 80 recordings today...versus a normal day of perhaps 10-15. So I’d say the solar panel did a nice job of powering the camera battery today. I’ll watch it over several days, but I expect the solar panel to keep the battery topped off. The most challenging days will be in December with very few hours of daylight and lots of clouds. I hope it works well, I just purchase two more solar panels.

The perfect answer to my Arlo needs!

Okay, since purchasing Arlo Pro camera's last fall I've been waiting patiently for these solar panels to come out. Tired of climbing a ladder all the time simply to recharge the batteries. Installed two of these panels for my camera's and they seem to work as expected. Not having any prior solar panel experience I was sort of surprised that the panels need DIRECT sun exposer, not simply a good amount of day light. For me, these two panels get about 4 to 5 hours of direct sunlight which charges my batteries about 3% to 4% per day. One bit of advise though, before adding these panels to your system make sure you top off your batteries to 100% first. In my case this 3% or 4% per day simply keeps the batteries topped off at 100%. I'm guessing it would take serval weeks to fully charge an empty battery if you don't.

I really got tired of setting up and climbing a ladder to get to the camera (ARLO 2). First, be aware this panel is for an ARLO 2. We made the mistake of buying the panel that was designed for the Ultra. You still have to remove the camera from the mount to charge it or if you have an extra battery you would then need open the camera to make the swap out, hoping not to drop the camera from being 11 feet up. It doesn't charge well when its gloomy, dark and rainy but that is expected for a solar panel. This panel was easy to install if you have basic handyman/handywoman skills =) and a ladder. A small drill helps greatly with making the pilot holes for the three screws it comes with to secure the mount. For cable management use some type of an electric cable/wire clip fastener and a small hammer. Positioning the panel is key so make ensure its mounted at an area where you will get direct sunlight to get optimal charging for the camera during the day. Mine is facing straight up on the east side of my roof. By the end of the day battery is fully charged, There is a lot of activity pedestrians and traffic in front of the camera and I was worried the solar panel could not keep up with keeping the charge as the camera uses more energy when it is activated by motion or sound. Ever since I installed this panel- until now, the battery charge never goes below 95%. The solar panel and the camera has been through a lot of rain and both are still working great, I bought another panel for use on over our garage door/driveway as well.

    Arlo Solar Panel A MUST

Save time and effort. Much easier to install a solar panel, rather than climb the ladder, remove and charge the battery, and another ladder experience. Since I installed the panel and camera on aluminum poles, I used self tapping screws, which made it so much easier. I get morning sun, and have the panel facing to the east. 3PM, and battery is at 85 %. I plan on adding another panel to my other camera. Total time to install less than 10 minutes. Took me longer to gather the needed tools and ladder. A GREAT addition.

I went back and forth between buying an extra battery and charging adapter and getting the solar panel. I'm glad I got the solar panel because it works like a charm. It was very easy to install and came with clear instructions. I mounted it facing southeast where we get most of our SoCal sun each day and connected the cable from the solar panel to the back of the camera and ever since then the camera's battery hovers around 100% full charge every day. It doesn't get any better than that. I did this because I have the camera on a hard mount - not magnetic - and it would be a pain to disconnect it, charge the battery, and reinstall it, not to mention the camera monitoring time lost during that process. The solar panel makes all that unnecessary.

    It recharged my camera

Initially I purchased a compatible solar panel from Amazon because it was like $15 cheaper, but that did not seem to work with my Arlo Pro 2 series camera even though they say it works for the Arlo Pro 2. It began to drain power from my battery versus recharging it, so I returned it and spent a few more bucks to buy the Netgear solar panel. I hooked it up and so far so good. My camera battery drained down to 69% because of frequent motion activations and with partial sunny skies the next day, it recharged my camera back to 100%. So it's great to see that it is recharging without any issues and I won't have to take 1 of 4 cameras down to recharge. The one thing you should do is to download and use the “Simply Solar” app to position your solar panel, so that you will get the best sunlight. I wish their cable was longer than six feet so that I can use the same solar panel to charge another camera that is close by. Other than that, the Netgear Solar Panel works in temperatures of 40+

The solar panel has now made the cameras self-charging which is a great convenience when compared to needing to take down the camera every few days to recharge it at an electrical outlet. It’s very easy to install and works very well so far. The only issue would be that the size of the panel is a little larger than I thought it would be, so it isn’t as discrete as the camera. But not needing to take down the camera myself every few days to recharge it is well worth the purchase by far.

I bought this to charge an outdoor camera that has a lot of activity, but is mounted in an inconvenient location to access. While my other Arlo cameras are last more than a month between charges, this location was needed charged every week. I read the reviews and was concerned about all the bad ones, but decided it was worth a shot. Installation was easy, attaching it to the camera was easy, and it just works. Granted, it's only been a month, but it has successfully charged that camera to 100% every day and we've had multiple rainy days in a row. I don't know how long it'll last or what will happen in the winter, but for high summer sun days it is working like a charm.
