Fairly easy directions to set up. should pay for itself in approximately one and a half years do not have to pay xfinity for rental. My last Arris modem/router worked great for 7 years Highly recommend

Out of mode for my cable's setup- I'm very disappointed because of the Technical support wasted & didn’t understand what I needed.
$500 DOLLars later all i got was store credits
Even though it was out dated

BUYER BE AWARE! It technically connected, yet intermittently dropped my connection. Over a period of four weeks or so, despite multiple resets/reconfigures, the speed transmitted was grossly subpar. There was nothing wrong with the service coming from my ISP. I returned this to Best Buy, which was another fail in this story, and purchased a Motorola cable modem (MG8702) that works marvelously. The immediate difference in connection quality was short of amazing.

Would have loved to use this, was our first choice but out internet provider said we would be charged $30 on top if the $120 monthly bill we already have

When it worked, it worked well. I purchased this to replace a Motorola. Right from the start it worked great and connection was fast. A couple days after setup, the connection started dropping multiple times a day, every single day. After restarting multiple times and contacting the company, this thing went right back to Best Buy.

A minuscule quick start guide tells you to install two apps on your phone that will walk you thru set-up. It's awkward to go back and forth between the two apps.
If you need more help, there is a user manual, but they don't tell you this in the quick start guide or on the box, you have to call Technical Support to learn about the user manual's existence. And, you have to download the User Manual, which essentially means you can't access it until after you've got the modem installed. That's no help in the installation.
So, if you're a real techie and know what you're doing already, no sweat. But, if you're the run-of-the-mill user, e.g, someone setting this up at your home, installation just seems harder than it needs to be because of the absence of useful instructions in the box.
I wouldn't recommend to my friends for that reason.

I would not recommend this modem. My cable modem failed, and I replaced it with this G36 modem. The modem drops the internet connections and is terrible for any home office setting. The firmware in the modem is outdated and buggy. After five months of attempts to fix my internet problems, I through the Arris G36 in the garbage and purchased a Netgear Nighthawk model. Now my internet is working flawless. Save your time and money and go with Netgear right away.
