This was a great CD with many songs that obviously really meant something when it was written. Very heartfelt.

…On Alicia Keys that is. I didn’t think I would care too much for her latest creation, As I Am, but dang was I wrong (which never happens of course). I love Alicia but I wasn’t in a hurry to hear the album because of the two singles she had released, “No One” and “Like You’ll Never See Me Again”. They were ok, they just weren’t as good as singles passed. On a number of interviews she was telling the world how she had to go off to a far away land to do some soul searching and get some much deserved rest. I was like OH LORD, ain’t no telling what this CD gone sound like, but she has made another collection worthy album. Jazzy, soulful and grown are all words that came to mind when I finished playing As I Am. Alicia puts her heart into every note she sings, she was made for this. She lets you know she’s a superwoman in the song…..well…..”Superwoman”. Can’t argue with that! When it comes to our loved ones she begs us to take advantage of every moment with songs like “Like You’ll Never See Me Again” and “Tell You Something”. She admits she was burned by love but she takes it as a “Lesson Learned”. That song really touches my heart. She longs for a spontaneous, “Wreckless Love” in track 7 and recalls a “Teenage Love Affair” in 9. Alicia allows us to see deep into her soul through the song “Prelude To A Kiss”. She’s telling us how being an entertainer can definitely be challenging at times and she wants to make it to heaven so she kindly and soulfully asks God to send her an angel. This track is only 2+ minutes long but one of the most powerful. Probably because it’s more of a prayer than a song. I love Alicia Keys. She’s real, truly talented, and carries herself with dignity and confidence. She doesn’t curse, talk nasty, or claims she’s the baddest b**ch on her records. She’s a lady. Our generation should be thankful to have her…. I know I am....but don’t take my word for it, what do I know? I’m out! *RandB Chick*

I was torn between givng "As I Am" a 4 or 5 star rating. I have decided to give Alicia Key's most recent ceative venture 4 stars based off the fact that, even though a tremendously great album, I feel that this album does not live up to the standard that has been set by her previous 2 albums. "As I Am" is a very diverse album that shows off her skills and musical talent, as well as her creativity. Where the album falls short is on the vocals. I felt her passion from the words she was singing, not from the (lack of) emotion she was singing with. Also, A. Keys made a name for herself by establishing herself as a singer, who also plays the piano. Well, in "As I Am", these piano based ballads are missing. The piano is still being used, but not in the complexity and significance as her ealier works. With all that said, it's still a very great and addictive album, one of the year's best. Definitely worth buying, you will not regret it!

I love this CD. I wouldnt say it is the best of the three she has done so far. I do still prefer her debut CD as my favorite but that still doesnt detract from the more mature sound that she has cultivated on this particular LP. Some dont like the fact that she didnt feature the piano as much as she did on previous albums but I must say I never noticed that it was missing, that is how good she is. The vocals, the content of the songs, and the instrumentals blended beautifully. My favorite track must be "Thing About Love", followed by "Superwoman". I definitely recommend this album for the true A. Keys fan.

I was initially hesitant to purchase this album based on single No One, which I still can't muster up a liking for. However, upon hearing Lie You'll Never See Me Again, I decided to take a chance. Boy am I glad I did. I truly believe that this is Ms. Keys' best recording to date. It is the only one that i have been able to listen to from beginning to end with the exception of the aforementioned hit single. I find myself listening to the CD at least 2 times a week -- and with an iPod with over 10,000 songs on it, that's saying something.

A. Keys will be around for many years to come. She is so unique when it comes to her music. She surpasses the average meager voice, over heavy beats and synthesizers. She was born to do this... If you are looking for the one hit radio single and then 13 more tracks of "filler" (nice word for nonsense) pick up some of the other fly by nights that stock the shelves. For Classic, yet contemporary R&B with melodic notes and awesome writing, As I Am is a winner...

There hasn't been an album in recent memory that i have listened through completely without skipping a song. Its incredibly diverse,"Like You'll Never See Me Again" is a song, whereas "Teenage Love Affair" takes you back to your first grade school crush. I'll be playing this album non-stop. i have it saved on my computer, Playstation3, and PDA Phone. Can we say "Grammy for Album of the Year!"

I have heard all of her albums and I must say that this have to be her best one so far,all of her songs are good.And it has my favorite song No One and alot of other songs I can relate to.I think that Alicia keys is a talented singer with a great voice.And I got this album for only twelve dollars thats a great price.

This is a great album and shows how much she has matured and developed as an artist. Her songs are filled with her passion and it resonates throughout the cd. I am glad to have bought this and hope she continues to make beautiful music.

Alicia Keys is not one of my favorite artists, but i have to say this is a great album. I purchased this for my wife and found myself wanting to listen to it. I can definitely appreciate a good cd to roll to and this is one of them. So pick it up.

I've had the cd for three for three days and I already know every word to every song. It's that good, you only want to hear that cd. I kind of expected it to be a good cd, but it's awesome, best one this year.

This CD is like the best shes done. i played out all her cd's but when this one came out i think i played this one out th longest i ever played . its sooooo bomb get it get it get it please.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every song in her CD is grat. The lyrics you can totally relate too. The beats are pretty cool. Most of her songs are inspiring.

The album is so wonderful. I love the feeling and emotion and passion in her voice. She will only get better as time goes by.

Another great cd from Alicia Keys. This cd is one of those cds you can play from beginning to end without skipping a song.

I love her music. It touches your heart and you can definitely think of something going on in your life and relate it to her music.

I don't know, but this one did nothing for me. There were maybe 3 songs I liked on the whole CD. Who can't relate to Teenage Love Affair? No One is the best and Like You'll Never See Me Again is touching. The rest of it is just mediocre for me. At times it sounded like she was straining to get out a note. It doesn't hold up to the first one. I'll have to listen to it many more times in hopes I can find a gem on there.
