Stunning environment with a tad of choppiness

When you first start the game, you'll start wondering what the heck is going on. You'll soon find out there is a dual storyline in this game of present and past. You get to control "Altair" (the name of the ancestor/assassin) and go off in little investigations which lead to assassination assignments. The environment is stunning. The A.I. of the populace is great too. There are town drunks and beggars that can really blow your cover when you're trying to do stealth kills. There are choppy transitions. The details of the environment is so stunning in this game that I think that it's too much for the Xbox 360's processors to process without a little choppiness on the visual end. The character is so agile and can climb up almost anything and jump from rooftop to rooftop, you'd swear that the only thing missing for the main player/character is webslinging abilities and a Spiderman suit! For all the hype that surrounded this game, I am a bit disappointed. You are limited in the weapons you can use and it IS possible to just run and gun your assassination assignments rather than go stealth all the time. It makes the game more difficult when you do this, but moving in stealth mode (blend) from location to location or from assassination to assassination all the time can wear on a player's patience. Overall, great game, but I've seen other games put the Xbox 360 to better potential than what the hype states this game does.

    Sweet visuals

This is a sweet game with huge areas and lots of guys to kill and stuff to see and find. I enjoy the open ended gameplay and being able to do what you want when you want. The fighting leaves something to be desired, using only one or two buttons. Other than that, this is s great game. I like being able to climb to the top of any structure and kill anybody. I wish they would have a stats page so I could see how far I have walked, how many people I have killed, gameplay time, etc, kinda like GTA. Anyways, worth picking up, but maybe not for 60 bucks because there is no expansion capabilities due to lack of multiplayer and xbox live support. I got it online from best buy for 35 bucks and that was a good price.

Takes a little bit to start

This game (just as many reviews have stated) is amazing! The graphics are simply outstanding and the story line in intriguing. The only con I have (as stated above) is I get the feeling that the movement is repetative. If I am sword fighting a guard then the movement looks the exact same as the next guard I fight. I keep pressing attack and after a few blocks the guard dies... "ok next!". Also as my title states the game does take a little bit to get started and open full capabilities so if you do buy this game don't give up on it in the first 30 minutes like some people do, keep playing through the boring parts and you will soon learn the aftermath is well worth the wait!

    Amazing Game

I love this game! I have been highly anticipating it's release ever since it has been announced. The Graphics are very realistic as well as the AI, which together make it as though your actually an assassin. The Gameplay is great but it can get repetitive after a while. One of the unique things about Assassin's Creed has to be the freedom. I see myself forgetting about what my objective is and just running around the large and detailed cities and towns. My only concern other than the somewhat repetitive Gameplay is the fact that the storyline really surprised me. Other than that it is a great game. I recommend it to all my friends.

    Best Game Ever Made!!!

I actually came here to read some reviews you guys posted, and that was a big reason I got the game. The game is phenomenal, I had to get someone to pry the controler loose from my hands just to make me eat. The graphics are incredible, you feel like you're actually there! The story is very surprising, and now I know what the other reviewers were talking about. I won't be the one to ruin it for you, so you just have to buy the number 1 game of 2007 and still for 2008. Jade Raymond (producer) has made a must-have, and I hope she continues making games. I can't wait to see her next one! Happy Holidays guys!!

This game is awesome if you like long horse rides back and forth with a million fights in between. The graphics are amazing and oh ya the storyline when you first start is really confusing. Well the awesome aprt about it is that you get to do all types of missions free fall from huge towers and it's got awesome fighting. I like the part how you get to go through the game to earn your weapons.

This is an amazing game. The historical accuracy of the characters is impressive to say the least. The graphics are fantastic and the gameplay is smooth. The inside plot is great and the characters are interesting. The A.I is very good and leaves for long term play. The outside plot is a little shaky and takes away from the overall game but it is is still fantastic. All the cities are large and beautiful and reflect the real cities themselves. this game is very very good so make sure you look into it. It is worth the price and will last all players a long time.

This is a great game which I would recommend to a friend. The storyline is great and the graphics are awesome. It is quite addicting and I personally have to ply this game for 2 hours each day to make me happy. The only thing they need to change is to make all the objectives different for each city. Otherwise, this game is great. I can't wait for part 2 to come out.

Assassins Creed is based around the time as the Third Crusade, around the year of 1191 AD. This game is beautifully set up, amazing display of second generation graphics and in game play. In this game, you make the rules, you decide when, where, and how you are going to assassinate your next target. Ubisoft yet again brings games to life as you actually push your ways threw crowds and decide your destiny. Unlike other games of its class, you cannot just pull out your sword and kill everyone you see, it even gets as real as only being able to withstand humanly blows (Which means no more big blows to the head, and no more having hundreds of arrows sticking out of your body). I personally think that this game deserves 10 out of 10, and should have its place in every gamer’s house.

Graphics are stunning, gameplay at first is awesome, but disappoints as you continue playing (side missions especially). Climbing building, though fun, is too easy. A very long game, will take hours to complete. If your really want a challenge try collecting all the flags.

This game is awesome i mean just unbeleaveable. the whole story line is just out there. The concept of dna memory extraction is just unthought of. Its pretty cool the way you can kill the people in the game and the whole (matrix) type of time slowing. Another cool thing is the view points in the game you can see part of the city from an eagles perch and then jump off in to a bale of hay from 200ft in the air and not get hurt make for great escape routes. All in all i love this game and put 150hrs in to it.

    Great and original game

This first game in the series has some of the most inovative gameplay I've seen in a while, Ubisoft did a great job bringing all this ancient cities to life. This is a stealth game, most of the time you will be trying to keep your self under the radar, but u can go crazy and reveal your self at any given time. You're an assassin that made a mistake and is being lectured and trained all over again, so they make you do all these assassinations to prove you're worthy of the Creed of Assassins. Before you get the name of your target you will have to do some investigation missions to find out why you're killing him or what happens around him. These missions are basicly easy just follow the icons on the map and do the specific action. You don't have to follow the rules but it sure makes the game all challenging and fun to play a stealthy assassin. The battle system is easy to use and it works smothly u have your regular attacks and your stealth, counter and combo, wich you perform br presing the right or left trigger then the corresponding weapon button. You have 3 weapons you have a sword, hidden knife and a dagger, when using the dagger you also have access to throwing knifes for those gurds on the oposite rooftops you may not be able to get fast enough. On the graphics side it looks gorgeous alld the detail they gave to the main character and the city looks breath taking, some of the people on the cities dont looks as sharp as the main character but that can be forgiven since it the console is running this whole city without having to wait for loading screen when you run from one end to the other. If you like stealth games you will love Assassin's Creed if you don't, it's still a great game and you should give it a try, i had alot of fun playing through the whole game. I would give it a 9/10 just because of the repetitive missions but besides that it all comes together to from a superb game.

    XB360 Must Have

This game has enough short-term goals to keep you entertained if you only have a short amount of time to play it, and enough long-term goals to keep you occupied all day. Also, there is plenty of side-tracking that can be done between major quests if you need a break from the storyline for a while. Rewards for completing optional elements make them worth doing, and rewards in general are allocated in such a way that there is always something to look forward to.

This game is awesome. The storyline is really long and the graphics of the game are great. Your name is Altair and you are given different targets which you have to kill in order to level your status as an assassin. Of course the game includes side missions which you have to complete before you can assassinate your target. The one con of the game is the fighting style. You fight constantly and the system is the same old same old after a while.

I just beat this game last night, and must admit that while it does get a bit repetitive, there is always more than one way to approach any given situation, especially once you have been at least 60% upgraded. The combat is stellar. Without spoinling this game for those of you who have either not bought this game (shame on you) or not beaten it yet, this game is simply a must-buy. If you are trying to convince a parent or a spouse to get this game for you, tell tham that it is one of the best games available on the Xbox 360 at this time. You simply must experience this for yourself. Buy this game, don't just rent it. You will want to engage in immense, ten-minute long sword fights in the city square time and time again. You really will. Buy this game. You will not regret it.

    This is MY creed

Assassins Creed is a game that takes you back to the time of the third crusade. Or sometime near that. Anyways, in this game you'll find yourself REALLY as a man named Mr. Miles. However, you have been taken to revise memories of your ancient ancestor, Altair, a middle eastern assassin. You can do many things in this game, which might classify it as somewhat an rpg game. You can jump roof to roof, wall to wall. Almost like a third person veiw of mirrors edge, only with more freedom to choose. You can kill people randomly, and you can kill templars, which are basically knights that fought in the holy war. Templars are also bonus enemies, so if you kill them all you get a reward. There are about 60 of them. You are given many assassin weapons like a throwing knife and a hillden blade. But, you have them taken away and must earn them back with every important person you kill. Now, before you kill your target, you must do many things such as eavesdrop, and collect information from people about that person. Also you explore three cities in your adventure. One of them being Jerusalem. Also this is different from your button mashing usual games. You must do manouvers to counter the attacks of your enemy. I have to say though it feels really repetitive though, so I dont REALLY recomend buying it, I say you should rentit, but if you love it, buy it.

First, this game has some absolutely incredible graphics. The visuals are stunning. You can climb to the top of towers and just see the detail. Next, the story the game is based on is interesting. Kept me playing wanting to know what twist or turn was coming next, and to find out what happens in the end. The problem is...it's the same mission over and over. And over. There is hardly any difference in the missions, except that towards the end the guards have a higher state of awareness. Makes the game get pretty old after a while. Should have rented it. All in all - it's fun to run around 12th Century cities as an assassin, but I wish the programmers had added more to the gameplay.

I have bought quite a few games that I had every intention on beating but halfway through them I have totally lost interest. This wasn't the case with Assassin's Creed. This game kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The graphics are amazing and the research that Ubisoft Montreal put in is unlike any I have seen in any game. Escaping from guards and leaping from building to building doesn't get old. The only thing that does get old is the way you have to research your targets. Honestly It's a small price to pay to get to your mark. I am not going to give anything away so excuse me if this review is vague. I bought this game for 39.99 and I would have been just as happy if I had payed full price. Even though I have finished the game there is still a bunch to do. Have fun.

I really did not expect to say this, but Assassins Creed has a lot of problems. A combat game curve with the counter strike attack that feels like Im falling off a cliff is not good (cuz you hold RT and we they attack jam X until they die horrifically), and neither is changing weapons mid-fight (as it turns out, since it doesn't really work anyway). Sometimes you will forget to lock on or off your opponents at key parts and will end up dead because the screen became a seizure of white and red light when your opponents cut you to pieces. The methods of getting information are annoyingly similar with little variety, making it feel repetitive. Still...it's incredibly fun to shank guards and hop along rooftops, which is all most of it is so I love it.

It was great, everything was great. The storyline was catchy and well thought out. The combat is what took me by surprise. The ways in which you assassinate people was amazing, the graphics were amazing, by far it was amazing. The only thing that annoyed me was the fact that after the game was complete, you couldnt continue.
