To start off, I previously owned the Turtle Beach XO Sevens and loved the sound quality. I also thought they were very comfortable to use over 3 -6 hour gaming sessions as a person who wears glasses. This is why I was hoping the these Astros for $200 would atleast live up to that being as my Turtle Beaches where only $120... That wasnt that case as far as audio quality goes. Let me also mention I am a Audio Engineer by degree. I found the astro with the M80 mixamp to have a very muddy mix. The low end was too exaggerated no matter which of the 3 mixer settings I selected. It was almost like the footsteps had a drum sound to them for every step. The mid high to high frequencies weren't accentuated enough to give the environment from the perception my character in PUBG, to feel like I was in a open space when I'm running through a open field or through the desert. The Turtle Beaches got the EQs right as far as this goes. Now, I decided to switch over to Astro's due to the cheap plastic that Turtle Beaches use. Astros build quality was definitely better from my experience. Overall, the Astro a40's werent bad as far as comfortability and build quality goes, but with this particular package paired with the M80 mixamp it fell short. Its definitely not worth the $200.

I LOVE this headset. I can hear everything so clearly. Only drawback is that it doesn't seem to really allow me to control which side I wanna hear that well (Game or Party). All in all it is still my preferred headset. I have been using Astro headsets for a couple years now and don't regret a thing (was using Turtle Beach before).

I was thinking of buying the wireless A50’s at first, but decided on the wired A40’s. The sound quality on these is outstanding! My headset came with the mixer that attaches to the controller. The mixer makes it super easy to mute, adjust volume, or adjust the voice/ game volume. I would definitely recommend the A40’s.

The Astro gaming headphones are the only ones my 14 yr old son will use. We've tried many others (many...believe me) but none of which can compare to the daily gameplay usage a teenage boy can dish-out! If you're a parent or gamer of any skill level, the A40's are far superior and the best "bang" for your buck! Highly recommend.

Great product works amazing but can’t justify spending $200 on a headset so I returned it

This was a great sounding headset, but i returned them... the only reason i returned them was not because of the headset but because of me... the headset ported into the gamepad and the wires from the headset and the controller felt odd for me... but great sound... i would recommend these to anyone after i explained the wired situation... I eventually spent twice as much for the wireless... those wires were the deal breaker for me...

A perfect mix between wireless and wired. Comes with the amplifier that plugs into your controller and draws power from your controller so if your controller is wireless it's perfect. Has surround sound and customizable side tiles and will work with PS4, PC, and anything with a 3.5mm jack. Couldn't recommend more.

This is the perfect headset if comfort is an issue and if you have sensitive ears. I can have it on for hours and won't even notice its on my head. The actual M40 model is perfect for those with disabilities with the easy to access buttons on the joystick. And I'd recommend getting the additional warranty b/c the M40 module that plugs into the control can get flaky overtime with heavy use.

As a former owner of a PC astro headset I was a little cautious of buying the console version. But man it did not let me down having great sound quality and being able to switch the preset modes on the fly (high treble, middle ground, and super bass). To be honest I'll never buy anything but Astro from now on.

i had the astro a50 before these and was frustrated with how everything had to be setup. one those were setup they were always in the way so i exchanged for the a40 and boy am i in love. the quality is not as great as the a50s but its not far off. much easier to control as the volune is attached to the headset adaptor. this is also a great step up from the turtle beach headsets ive used in the past

I’ve mostly only used Turtle Beach since I got my first Xbox 360. My fiancé wanted these for the One and it was a bit out of the price range I really wanted to spend but I’m glad we bought them. So crystal clear when using them. No issues at all. We love them. We rarely use the Turtles anymore!
