Customers admire the 15.6" Laptop for its budget-friendly price, lightweight design, and sufficient performance for basic tasks. While some users appreciate the extended battery life, others express concerns about the build quality, limited number of USB ports, and the learning curve associated with Windows 8.

Got three of these laptops for my kids their first laptop great inexpensive laptop for them to learn how to use a laptop and get experience with Windows 8 having problems with one of them the speakers stop working going to carry back to Best Buy to get the issue resolved that's why the rating was low hopefully this will be fixed and they will be good for their expected few years of use time will tell

The Asus X551MAV-HCL1201E was a spur of the moment buy. I saw it on sale for $199 and could not believe my eyes. I have been watching the prices of computers for months. This computer has a DVD drive that is a read/write. Most computers do not come with a DVD drive, at least those that are affordable. I have had the computer for a week now and so far it has been great. It even came with built in webcam. My only complaints are it did not come with a paper manual. It has a digital manual, but it's not the same as having the manual in your hand and being able to look up what you need to know. I also do not like that there is no way of knowing that the Caps button is on. The manual says on "some models" you will see a light, my model does not have a light and it makes it hard when entering passwords. It has a great battery life unlike my HP. Of course, Windows 8.1 is just as confusing as I was told it would be. If only it would have come with Windows 7 or even XP. Why does Microsoft insist on changing things when they have a formula that works. In my opinion XP was the easiest OS to work with and Windows 7 in second place. For a laptop that is light, does not run hot when in use for a long time, has a webcam, CD/DVD CD-R/DVD-R drive, nice 15.6 inch screen, I would have to say, this is a great computer.

I think this is the cheapest full size laptop I have ever bought! It was a gift though. At $185 15" laptop with intel celeron, 500GB HDD, 4GB RAM - what else could I ask for? I got it 'open-box' condition though. Good buy

I bought this for my wife when her 5-year old Acer Extensa laptop was on its last legs. She's not a power user; the majority of her computer time is spent browsing on facebook or Amazon or playing a few facebook games. I figured for a sale price of $199.99 I couldn't go wrong with this laptop given the non-demanding usage it would endure. I was actually pleasantly surprised when I set it up how snappy this laptop was, performing all the tasks I tested it with without missing a beat. She's been using it for a week now and other than the occasional incidental appearance of the charms bar (when she moves the cursor too close to the corners) she has had no complaints. I would definitely recommend this laptop for anyone whose primary usage will be internet browsing, email, and light gaming.

We got this laptop for surfing and streaming video. We got a decent amount of memory, 4gb and hard drive space, 500gb. I was most surprised to see this laptop included a DVD drive, which isn't commin at this price level. This is the first laptop I have purchased that had a plastic case. The key board keys feel a little strange and low quality. Set-up is straight forward. It was bought in sale for $198 and So far this laptop has met my expectations.

I researched all the brands at this price point and Asus appeared to have the best hardware, although they were all pretty similar. I was happy it came with an optical drive because a lot of people reported the one on Amazon doesn't. What I did not expect is how fast this laptop is. It boots up so fast and works great for Google Chrome, Microsoft Office and even Adobe Acrobat Pro. Windows 8 is great once you declutter and customize the start menu. The USB 3.0 and built in SD card reader are great. The only part I find disappointing is the trackpad. I wish it had separate click buttons, instead the entire pad has to move when you want to left or right click. The pad feels kind of loose and sloppy in the housing overall.

It was s great value! It is working great so far, was just as advertised and as expected. Best Buy, as usual, offered a great product at a great price. My daughter is using it for 8th grade class work, email, etc. It is replacing a small screen sized Acer which ahe had been using. The screen size, appearance of sturdiness, number keypad is wonderful for completing her work. We are completely satisfied with it so far

This laptop does exactly as advertised. You're not going to be editing video or running state of the art games on it but you can surf the web, run office, do your taxes, etc. It's a great bargain for the price!

bought through web, picked up at store on Union Square. Delivery was good in timing. But the laptop itself had minor issues, with sudden reboots and battery problem of recharging. Seems to be fixed after total system wipe (windows 8.1 sucks!) and complete depletion and recharde of the battery offline. Wish the batter would be removable as normal. For the rest, good laptop for the money.

Purchased for a graduate student. It is a decent laptop for the price, fast enough. I would recommend it as a secondary computer, for beginners, anyone.
