    Laptop wouldn't update

    I had read good reviews about this laptop and was excited to get it on sale. When I got home and turned it on I was notifies the laptop needed updates. The laptop would download the update but stay stuck installing. I decided the best option was to return the laptop which was a breeze.

    I have had this laptop less than 2 months and have had nothing but trouble. It keeps saying it needs to restart and then just spins for hours. I will eventually get it reset and have to go through the same thing all over again. I probably haven't used it more that 10 hours and have spent way more time than that trying to get it up and going. I thought I got a great deal on it but if it is doing this over and over again brand new it looks like I have wasted my money.

      I do understand your disappointment if you are experiencing stability or performance issues with the laptop. The prompt to restart means updates needs to be applied to the System Registry. During this process, you may experience temporary black screen or another restart prompt. Once the updates were applied, the laptop will work properly, as expected. In order to maintain optimum system stability and performance, cumulative WINDOWS Update needs to be installed periodically. If you are accessing web applications, please make sure the unit has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system speed and performance.     A total and complete frustration

    At or around 31 days after purchase, the compute has become a lemon. The trackpad has gone out, the Aux cable then went out after updating the trackpad driver for some reason. Then the trackpad went out again. And through it all, Disk Utilization sporadically sticks at 100%, making it frustrating to try to do anything on the device. I despise this thing and I am living a life of total regret.

This is definitely not a common issue with any of our models and I would love to assist with having this resolved. Please install both Version V6.0.1.8514 of the Realtek Audio Driver and Version V11.0.20 of the ASUS Touchpad driver from our online help-desk at the following link: https://www.asus.com/us/Laptops/Q405UA/HelpDesk_Download/. As it relates to the 100% disk usage please go into Settings and ensure that all Windows updates are completed. You can also check the task manager to see what tasks are running that is causing the disk usage to be at 100%. Also please ensure that you do not have more than one anti -virus installed on your computer as this can cause serious performance issues. You can also back up all the data stored on this notebook and do a factory reset. A reset can be done by going into Settings > Update and Security > Recovery > click Get Started under Reset this PC and select the option to remove everything. Once the reset has been completed you can setup the unit once more and then test to see if the issues have been resolved. Since your product uses an RPM HDD you may experience slower speeds than one that uses a SATA SSD.     I have had my previous Asus laptop since January 2011, and it still works well. But, I figured it was time for a technology upgrade, so I decided to buy another Asus. * I had Geek Squad do the set up. For the first week, it seemed to be working fine, but I felt it was slower than it should be. This was slower waking up, slower with the hard drive, not a connection issue. * I used it for about 4 hours in one use and nearly deleted the battery, so I would question the battery life as well. * Then, I was using Google Chrome on Christmas Day, and the computer froze. I attempted to reboot and got the Asus trademark with the spinning circle for about 10 minutes. It took me several (at least 6 or 7) attempts to get the computer to reboot, and then it took 3 more attempts to get the computer to troubleshoot and repair itself. * I was beside myself, as I had come to trust Asus, and I did not really want to return the machine. Even so, since I was still in the return window, I decided to return it. I am hesitant to recommend Asus after this experience, although my wife has previous year model of the same Asus computer and has not experienced any issues. Pros with this machine: Price is right for specs, large hard drive, good processor, 8th generation I5. Cons with this machine: Experienced problems in first two weeks I owned the machine, I would question the estimate for battery life, keyboard felt small even for the size of the computer.

    This is whole design is terrible. Highly uncomfortable to use, more set up for a child. Don't let the supposed bells & whistles fool you...it takes forever to load. ASUS is nothing close to what it used to be. Bringing this puppy back asap.

Certainly, the unit was designed to run popular computing applications without compromising system stability and performance. This issue is temporary during the initial WINDOWS setup and before installing cumulative WINDOWS Update, regardless what brand name of computer this may be. This may take a longer time depending on the network traffic from the update server and the stability of your high-speed internet service. Once initial setup and WINDOWS Update installation completed, system speed or performance will be optimized.     Worst computer I have ever owned. I bought this w/ the intention to use in school, but this is useless. If I could give negative star rating for this laptop, I would. I will NEVER recommend this laptop to anyone, not even to my worst enemy.

    Our asis computer is crap. Major issue and needs sent to manufacturer. Be careful of Mfr. Warrantys as they require you to send it to them and not Best Buy to repair. figure about 4 weeks to get it back.

    Had to send back to Asus because when typing the computer would glitch out. Missed the return window with Best Buy, so now having to deal with Asus to get the issue addressed.
