Great laptop with unexpected, but handy features

I bought this machine in a hurry and I'm really happy with it. I went in to Best Buy to check on repairing or replacing USB ports a 4 year old Toshiba Satelite and ended up buyinng a new Laptop instead. Since I travel for work a helpful Best Buy consultant suggested this aluminum body Asus. It cost about $200 more than the plastic models I was looking at but I'm happy with the choice. Overall it is a fast machine, with some unexpected options I really like - particualarly touch screen.
There does seem to be a problem with getting audio from the earphone jack, but I have plenty of bluetooth sound options and they work great. I'll bring the computer by the store someday to have GS check out the questionable jack.
The computer has the keyboard style I lke, with a number pad to the right side. One problem however is the placement of the "0" key. It is directly under the "2" key instead of the "1" & "2" key I'm accustomed too. That's is taking some adjustment as I touch type the number pad most of the time.
Besides the touchscreen I also appreciate the lighted keyboard and the control one has over it. Basically a function key and pressing F3 or F4 to either to turn off/on, dim or brighten.
Windows 10 is pretty cool as it works better than previous versions. Not missing Windows 8 on my Toshiba laptop which I"m keeping for use a VPN server.
Finger print sign-in works well but I prefer the PIN method offered by Windows 10. The computer has a large hard drive (930 GB) which i also apreciate. I use Google Drive and now have about 780 GB on the drive which has slowed things down somewhat. I'll be working on reducing my hard drive library and other things to speed processes back up when I have time.
For the price I really like this nice looking, thin, lightweight and seemingling rugged laptop. I was considering buying an iPad for traveling, but now see no need as I can do more with this machine, even in a cramped airplane setting.

I had researched for a good 2 months before making the final decision on this Asus (I've always been particular to another brand). Best choice for me. It came with everything I needed at an unbeatable price! So far so good with the functionality, dependability and overall use.. 2 thumbs up!!

For the price it's more than worth it. A similar equipped HP is almost twice the price. It runs very quiet and cool. Very fast response time. Fast boot and shut down. It has more disk space than I will ever need. Great battery life. This is the first ASUS I owned and I'm impressed.

This laptop has plenty of power and storage. It is light weight and portable with good battery life. The price was great for such a versatile laptop. I would give it five stars if it had a manual other than online.

I didn't like the bulkiness a normal size pc usually has and weighs down with everything else I need to carry all the time, this tab/PC does the trick. Get processor, amazing memory space and you have the option of bumping up the space if need, also another plus is how esthetically it is well put together and lightweight.

This ASUS laptop is simply AWESOME! It is lightning fast, has a beautiful, rich colorful display and responds instantly to touch. It is also very light and fits well in my son's backpack. Very simple to set up and it ran all windows and Asus updates automatically! It has plenty of programs for his college school work and has enough memory, and drive space for all of his games. I would definitely buy it again!

Its a great laptop! I bought it open box so I think that's where a few of my issues are coming in. (If anyone knows how to fix this please comment) I have to use Lockdown browser for my online tests and it stops responding every time I use it. Ever since it did that the first time, it makes my task bar disappear and my power button says no power options available. Other than that I LOVE it. Its light, its fast, its bend, and the power cord isn't super huge and hot like my old one. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

I bought this to replace my wife's aging ASUS laptop that was having space issues. It is much faster (Core i5 vs Pentium), has more RAM (12 GB vs 4 GB) and a larger HDD (1 TB vs 250 GB). She loves the touch screen features, the faster wireless and the consistency with which it works. I will most likely go in and purchase another one for me. The ASUS brand has been a solid performing brand for us.

Yes, it's new but I love the speed of this computer. Starting from when I turn it on, it takes about 10 seconds to boot up. LOVE IT. The only thing that I can say that I don't like is windows 10 buy I guess I'll get use to it. Light weight, thin, touch screen, and easy to use. I'm very satisfied with this product.

I have owned many Asus products and this had a lot to do with my choice to purchase this laptop. I was excited about this 2-1 Machine as I have been disappointed by some prior iterations. My main purpose for purchasing this machine was to have something that would have enough storage for my digital library and have enough memory to keep things moving quickly. Although the storage was adequate, I felt the laptop really slowed down in processing speed once I loaded all my media. It would take too long to load my digital libraries whether the files be on the cloud or reading them off of the HDD. The speed is maybe something I could have lived with however it was really the design that helped make my decision to return this purchase.
I found it to be too awkward to use this as a tablet because the keyboard keys residing on the opposite side of screen facing out. I found it quite uncomfortable to hold the tablet while feeling the keys underneath and became self-conscious that I might damage the keys. I did not feel that it would be durable enough for pro-longed tablet use and that the keys would be damaged.
Tent-mode worked perfect and so did the standard laptop mode. The keys were easy to type on.
If ASUS could have somehow improved this design to flip the keyboard so that it faces inward in tablet mode, I may have considered keeping this laptop.
I did actually go into Best Buy store to return the laptop and was considering buying the upgraded model that had both HDD & SSD drives however due to the tablet/keyboard issue, I decided to pass.
I'll keep my eye out for design improvements before I make my 2-1 purchase!

I'm very happy with this laptop. Good price, beautiful display, good performance, and a touch-screen to boot. Speaking of "boot", be prepared for a TON of Windows and firmware updates when you first get it set up. It will task the heck out of the slower hard drive to get installed, so either have the Geek Squad do the initial set up or be prepared for it to take hours before you can begin to truly use it as it comes with an older version of Windows 10 that needs to be updated to Creators Update (as of this writing).

Pros: reasonably fast Intel chip; decent amount of RAM; screen has good colors, resolution (1920x1080), and viewing angles
Cons: Windows 10 blows; glossy screen reflection is annoying; everything is way slower than it should be because it's gimped by the default hard drive (really needs and SSD); keyboard is kinda mushy and lacks feedback; ASUS support is beyond useless

I liked it this laptop because it doesn't overheat. Previously I got a Acer and HP laptops. My keyboard got overheat and I could not work any more. With this one you won't feel overheat, Performance is pretty good besides the capacity of the hard disk.

Very easy set-up; I prefer that it does not come pre-loaded with several programs. Although I had to purchase a separate DVD writer (connects with USB), I was hesitant, but it was VERY easy to load all my programs, Quickbooks, ADOBE Pro; Microsoft Office Professional, Etc. Once loaded, I don't need it unless I'm making a CD, etc. It is very quick to start and run several programs as well as many tabs on the internet without any interruptions or slowdowns. Very lightweight. Love the flip to tablet or while as laptop, I can lock touchpad and use my wireless mouse with ease.

I purchased this computer mainly because I have had an Asus before and loved the quality. I also am a college student and this qualified as a college student deal so I decided to give it a try. This has been a great computer so far for my budget. It runs programs very smoothly and the resolution is good. I play sims4 and league of legends without any lag or problems. The 12 GB of ram can handle multiple programs being open at once with very little to no lag depending on what you're opening.
The only issue I have had so far has been tablet mode. The autorotation is glitchy at times due to the hinge design and some programs can't run in tablet mode (like sims) on this computer while on an HP Envy I have no problems with that. The fan is also a little loud and it gets a bit hot but nothing that can't be dealt with. I deducted a star for those reasons. If you do not use tablet mode much then the rotation will never be an issue for you. It performs great as a normal laptop.
Overall I would recommend this to someone looking for a reasonably priced laptop that works great (minus tablet mode).
