Don’t waste your time buying “excellent” open box. We received this computer and it was DOA. Wouldn’t power up and let down my parter as this was their Christmas gift. Used to love ASUS, maybe not so much now.

This Asus gaming desktop is a good choice for those who want a good CPU and GPU, but are willing to sacrifice their build in other areas. Comes with a beefy 3080 GPU and a i7 12700KF CPU. Both perfect for gaming. For starters, the setup was straightforward. Plug it in, connect your mouse, keyboard and away you go. You will have to download several updates and restart a few times. Once that is finished, you will be up and running. First thing you will notice is that the fan is incredibly loud and there is NO intake fan setup. In my opinion, this is bad. Now I did some testing with Overwatch and Fortnite and still got good performance at 1440P. The temperatures did get up to 100 C before throttling, however. Unfortunately, I was not able to test other games as my power button stopped working and I could not turn on the PC. I reached out to ASUS but did not receive a response. I plan on re-casing this computer anyway so it really isn't a big deal. Out of the box, you will be able to game at 1440P or 4K no problem. However, you might want to consider an all in one water cooler and adding a few fans. The case is pretty small and 3080 barely fits without hitting the glass so you may want to just re-case anyway. Overall it is a decent setup, but you will need to put in some work if you want to take it to the next level. However, should you want to use it as is, there is nothing wrong with that and I am sure you will be happy with it!

Nice gaming computer for the PC gamer. ASUS makes good quality parts for computers and this one did not disappoint. Fan can get a little loud at start up or heavy load.

Power supply and cpu got fried the first two months.

Performs as expected. I would recommend this system. I use it primarily for VR and have had no problems.

Starts up very quickly, loads in seconds. Happily surpised. Although the keyboard and mouse are hardwired.

This was a great value. A lot of computing power for a very reasonable price.

This Asus has not run for more than 3 days without some problem. The Geek Squad tech is coming on Wednesday and I hope we fix this.

This desktop is a great foray into desktop gaming/multimedia use if you have a need for it. There are a few things to note from the build, but for most, it’s a great out-of-the-box experience. For those with a bit more experience with desktops or pre-builts, a few modifications can create the best possible scenario with it. Let’s start with the unboxing. The desktop is presented with a sleek, Strix branded box. Unboxing you’ll find the power cable, keyboard, mouse, PC manual, and extra display cables. All standard fare. Ironically, while the box is branded Strix, not all of the Asus components used are of the Strix (highest-end components) brand. Namely, the GPU. We’ll touch on this later, though. Once unboxed and plugged in you’ll be greeted with some lighting effects upon startup. The start-up is quick thanks to the SSD involved. Speaking of components, I don’t need to list out the components but in reality, this PC is probably one of the beefier pre-builts out there. You know what you’re buying here: top of the line, unlocked intel i7 processor, decent storage space, standard DDR4 Micron 3200mhz RAM, and the nice Asus TUF 3080 10GB to round it out. The one I received was the LHR model for those interested. That all said, you’d expect performance to be up there, and it is. Nothing it really can’t handle, but you probably already know that. The i7-12700KF is a 12-core (8 physical) beast that doesn’t kill you on power either. This 3080 may only have 10GB memory but it’s new GDDR6x which does boost its performance. These TUF GPU don’t really look anything special; their bigger sister Strix variants get the huge cooling upgrade and sleek metal look. But, they perform when it counts, and I consistently believe that the 3080 is the best option for most gamers looking for great 1440p performance, and good 4K performance. Here are the biggest cons I noted from my time with the desktop: Noise and cooling performance. There are two fans that cool this beefy machine. That’s it. You’ll probably want to install another one and/or a better AIO cooling solution in general. To do that, though, you’ll have to remove the redundant GPU bracket that was sort of a pain to do. It’s unnecessary, and I’m not sure why Asus did that. If you don’t the cooling is okay at best, but will be loud in doing so. I don’t believe the fans included are anything super quality-related, so I’d recommend, at minimum, getting some better ones in there ASAP. Also, oddly enough the GPU wasn’t fully recognized by GPUZ, and featured some weird white labels on the top, which makes it feel/look a bit cheaper. Maybe this is a brand new model created by Asus for its new builds but still noted nonetheless. The case is also a little bleak, and there are weird screwing holes that make it hard to dismantle things if needed/wanted. I believe you could take all the guts of the machine, though, and throw them in a new case if wanted. Nothing is weirdly proprietary, thankfully, so that’s a plus. So, that all said, I would recommend this PC as it has everything needed to get the grand performance right out of the box, without needing to worry about upgrading instantly or even in two-three years. There are a few tweaks you could make that would be better, but it’s nothing needed.

Cheap for a reason. With a lot of returns. Too many open box returns.

I respect ASUS… But not this crappy PC. The mobo is weak b stock. They decided to use the 10Gb RTX 3080 instead of the 12Gb card. The cpu fan can barely handle the heat. Almost always over 80 degrees while gaming. Constantly ramps up like a jet engine, then ramps up again. This can happen several times a minute because once the fan drops below full speed it can’t handle the heat and kicks on full again. Loud. Annoying. No convenient way to upgrade to liquid cooling. Bluetooth is horrible. Loses connection unless you are within 2 feet of the tower. This is not an exaggeration. It’s possible I might have a faulty unit, but still be cautious.

I do not recommend this system. even though the RTX 3080 is not bad, but the system is not upgradable. I returned it. because I started having issues of the system all the sudden slowing down.

The cooler is not good if you want to changet you can’t because she is small inside

This desktop is a beast with a 3080 Nvidia graphics card!! Case could have been better designed to dissipate heat. This is the first ASUS I’ve owned, but the other ASUS PCs I researched also suffered from the same problem. When I’m running graphic intensive games, mainly FPS like Apex, Doom, or Wolfenstein New Order, core temps range around 40-60 degrees Celsius. Running 2 screens with DP cables, both @ 160 Hz refresh rate. I’ve been zoned in til 3 am , periodically checking the temps to see how heavy gameplay was affecting the temps. Performed very well, with little to no fluctuations over 60 C. They could definitely have used more thermal paste in the motherboard, but that’s something I can address down the road. Might eventually get a different case as well. Overall, couldn’t be happier with the performance so far, about 2 weeks in. Had it for about 4 weeks so far but had to travel out of state for work for 2 weeks right before it was delivered, so that was a huge bummer!! Pros: not bad price for the guts in this PC, especially when graphics cards alone like the 3080 are close to if not $1K but themselves. Performs extremely well, with every game I’ve thrown at it so far. Cons: noisy at startup, but that comes with the territory off a gaming PC, and the important part is that it goes away pretty quickly, as long as it doesn’t stay that way, that’s all that really matters Case could be better for heat distribution, but that can be remedied as well down the road. I highly recommend this PC. Never imagined growing up with NES, Sega Genesis…etc, that games could have come so far. With a machine like this, you really get to experience the beautiful graphics, and experience the smooth gameplay that the game developers intended. Any non gamers out there, just make sure you have a monitor with a fast enough refresh rate to get the full benefits of this package!!
