    Nice while it worked!

Got this laptop approximately 1.5 years ago. From the get-go, it did some odd things: restarting itself randomly, not waking up the screen properly, etc. These were things I could ignore, given the nice performance when gaming. After all, I bought it FOR gaming. It was pretty, ran games smoothly, and did the job. Unfortunately, today, it entirely died. After only 1.5 years, it wouldn't boot the screen and merely flashed the keyboard. With a couple resets, it continued doing the same. Finally, on the third reset, it refused to turn on at all -- whether or not plugged in. Given the warranty was only for a year (bogus for a company such as ASUS), I'm now outta luck with this thing, and I'll be looking into a new gaming laptop that hopefully lasts much longer. Definitely won't be heading back to ASUS, not until they have better support for pricey pieces of tech that don't last much longer than a relationship.

In this price range, this thing blows any other laptop out of the water. Especially if you can get it on sale for between $1399 and $1449. Which it goes on sale often. The only slight draw back is that the RAM it comes with is noticeably slower than it should be. This is occurring with almost all brands of laptops as of right now. I picked up 32gigs of decent RAM and immediately saw a massive performance boost. The bigger screen on this model makes it a no brainer to choose over the standard 1080p version. I'm sorry, but there's no way you'll ever reach the advertised 300hz on the 1080p with standard game playing. Save yourself the eye strain and go for the 1440p. I had this plugged into a 4k 140hz monitor and it was still able to play games like Final Fantasy XIV on really high settings.

Awesome gaming laptop, runs games with no issues. Not for big games that need alot to run but it does the job.

For the first year (in warranty) this laptop as great. I use it to play world of Warcraft and my son has war thunder and Roblox he plays on it. Now in year two it’s nothing but problems. The display stopped working, so I had to pay GeekSquad $160 to fix the display and replace parts and now any time I am in pvp combat or there’s a boss cutscene In Warcraft, the entire laptop powers off. For an expensive “gaming” laptop that’s 2 years old I’m wildly disappointed.

This is my 2nd purchase and not for the reasons you are thinking. I purchased this laptop last year while it was on sale and it is such a powerful machine that i bought a 2nd one for my husband. We are both gamers so when we travel we always want to be able to log in to our mmo of choice and unwind in the evenings. I am able to set the graphics at max settings and experience no lag or issues. Great laptop for the price!

beautiful little gaming laptop with serious power. so much so that it overheats like a mf and will shut down while gaming, unless you choose the Windows mode in the Radeon software. i tried the other modes and most games will just freeze after about 5-10 min then the system reboots automatically. i tested doom eternal, ff7 remake, and valorant and have no issues as long as i set it to Windows mode and not Turbo or Performance or anything else lol but it works perfectly on Windows mode so im not upset. BUT the screen has issues with light bleeding through the sides of the bezel and ive seen it on every unit (this is my third replacement) so i assume its just how it is. it sucks but what can i say theres always room for improvement i guess.... i mean it is 165hz at 1440p and im not tryna watch movies on it only gaming so i can deal with the flaws but thats just me. i have a desktop with a ryzen 7 5800x and a rtx 3080 and i swear this laptop gives it a serious run for its money. im going to keep testing it with gaming monitors and tvs to see if it can handle itself and might upgrade some internals but only time will tell. ill update this review if i go a different direction but i think ill keep her!

For the few minutes this thing will work, you can feel the awesome performance then nothing, it powers off. I have been fighting the random shutdown issue for months and it still persists. At first, I thought it was my fault for proceeding to update GPU drivers (which is pretty standard practice for all OTHER gaming computers). Without updating the drivers, certain games, like Fortnite, were displaying a launch warning about the known issue with current GPU driver… then Fortnite would crash with an AMD error before making it to the lobby. After updating, Fortnite would run but Apex Legends and Mortal Online II would shut down the laptop after a couple minutes. Anyways, I performed a driver scrub with AMD’s cleaning tool and completely reset Windows… restarted the laptop THEN installed the Advantage Edition “Certified” drivers, again. Fired up Mortal Online II, Fortnite, and Apex Legends - each game caused the laptop to shut down within a few minutes. *Fortnite wouldn’t even get to character selection screen without crashing with AMD error - unless I forced Fortnite to run in DirectX 11 mode using arguments with the Epic Launcher… but after a match or two, the laptop still shut down. Asus you have to get this corrected, I’m a loyal Asus fan but this is ridiculous.

The best gaming laptop I’ve owned at the best price. Best Buy has outdone themselves with the flash sale. I’ve seen laptops with a GTX 1650 go for more than this beast of a machine. Imagine paying $1200 for a GPU that can barely do 60 FPS at 1080 on medium settings. Why that when you can buy this one that can do 120 FPS at 1080 on ultra!!
