This laptop easily competes above its price tier and the 6800m is a good card. Only con is that it runs hot, but that's what happens when you have good specs. Also battery life is short but this laptop is worth being left plugged in for the performance boost. Comes with a hefty 200 plus watt charger as well.

Pretty solid deal if you get it on sale. Definitely not a gaming laptop, as you cant adjust anything in the bios.

Quality control and flawed speakers

After fighting with it for 1 day, decided to open to install an SSD and discovered that the backlight flat cable was not plugged into the proper connector. That was an east fix, but the audio was ocasionally working and seems some sort of PCB problem with the driver as the headphones were perfectly fine. Loved the machine but not the quality, and also, no webcam ? really?

It is constantly spooling up only to hit its thermal limit and throttle itself back down on about a 10 second cycle that never ends. I'm pretty sure the liquid metal bonding the CPU to the heat sink was not properly applied and was missed during quality control. Being liquid metal it's too risky to fix myself so now I have an expensive gaming laptop that can only browse the internet. Buyer beware the quality control issues if you buy one. Be sure to benchmark it and make sure you're getting the full performance you're paying for.

Screen looks great, keyboard feels good, touchpad is solid. But it’s discounted for a reason… getting it to function is a massive headache, and you may (like me) not even be able to get it fully operational. When I received it the laptop was unable to detect external monitors. After installing/reinstalling various drivers, I fixed this problem by downgrading to an older graphics driver. When trying to play some newer titles (MW2 primarily) I found that I was unable to open them because of the outdated driver. Oh well, I figured I could do without the one or two brand new titles if I really had to. But then I booted up Rocket League (a game that could run on a potato) and it stuttered like crazy. I felt like I was getting 10fps max even after ensuring all of my settings were correct. I then reverted to Windows 10 thinking that might solve my issues… nope. Contacted support and posted on an AMD help forum but couldn’t find a solution that would remedy all of the issues. Returning this and getting an Intel/Nvidia build. I wanted to support AMD by going with the AE but I honestly don’t see myself getting anything AMD in the future after this experience. Asus seems to have done fine with the build- had absolutely no issues with temperatures or anything. Not writing them off but they’re definitely getting a side eye from me for green lighting this mess

1300$ repair don’t waste money on this garbage

Went to bed a few nights ago and woke up to no power and charge light wouldn’t even come on when plugged in. Long story short, the motherboard shorted out due to a known manufacturer issue regarding some type of poorly applied thermal paste or something similar.
