Not impressed with the 6800M at all...

The 6800m is supposed to be somewhere in between the RTX3070 and RTX 3080 mobile variants but I was not getting anywhere near that level of performance. When comparing this G15 to my HP omen x16 with an i7 and RTX 3070, I was getting 155-160FP on the 3070 vs the 105-110 on the 6800m running FFXIV at max settings. Same exact graphical settings, both running on a secondary display with laptop display off to get around Optimus on both laptops. Tried both laptops without second screen and using the laptop screen on both but the difference was much greater in favor of the 3070 again. This G15 also runs 10 degrees hotter at 86-88C vs the omen at 76-79C at full load on both machines. I purchased this laptop on sale at $1299 and I'm sure at that price, some will be satisfied at that price. But the HP laptop i referenced here was purchased on sale for $200 more than the G15 and even though more expensive, is the far better deal. Regular prices on both laptops mentioned in this review are around the $1650 price point. If you can catch the omen x16 in ceramic white on sale, you have one of the best all around gaming laptops for the money.

Games looked really good not problem. Then almost after tow months it started to freeze then reboot it's self. Also, when gaming a buzzing sound started happening. It's a shame to as I really like this laptop. Unfortunately I ended up returning it and got the g14 2022.

Tried to play COD through steam and installed the required AMD update but man the blue screen of death suddenly appears. Went back and factory reset the laptop and it’s working again. I guess I need to choose my games

Over heating

The speakers were loud but pretty tinny. The problem with it was that even on games that barely used the cpu it was hitting 95c and would then drop the cpu speed down to like 800mhz and it would stutter terribly in games. This was in turbo mode. The only way i could keep it from stuttering was to use manual mode and have the fans maxed out but in manual mode the gpu doesnt boost as high as in turbo mode. Manual mode maxes out cpu performance and gets fans going max. Was still getting very hot but didnt throttle. Pretty dissapointed. I returned it.

We are sorry to hear about the overheating issues you're having with this model. There's a possibility that there are background apps and Windows updates causing the unit to perform as it does. What we've observed with the Windows 10 operating system is that once the unit is not being used all background and installed apps including Windows updates will fire up. We would recommend that you check for and install updates. This will cause the unit to run a bit hotter than normal and in turn ramp up the fan speed. We would recommend that the user check for and install all updates for all installed applications. Multiple restarts are recommended to ensure all updates are installed. Running a 32" external monitor at 1440p, east most AAA titles up on ULTRA settings over 80fps If you want a gaming laptop, this is it. The only "con" I can think of is the fact that this laptop's true potential is hindered by the memory it comes with. Upgrading the memory will give you a significant boost (not the amount of memory but the quality)
