A solid all-AMD option with only a few compromises

A very good, competitively priced option for a gaming computer. Keep in mind that you will be compromising on ray-tracing performance (not a big deal on this class of machine, as ray-tracing is very demanding on all but top-end gaming laptops, at best) and will not have access to Nvidea-specific tools like DLSS. I purchased this device but have since returned it - it's a good machine if you're a tinkerer and you're interested in fiddling with your power and thermal settings, but it was a bit too finicky for my taste, and I decided that I only really needed to be gaming at 1080p, anyway. On the note of that tweaking: Thermal readings were all over the place when plugged in, though absolutely flawless on battery. They never got *too* bad by gaming laptop thermal standards, and the laptop itself stayed fairly cool to touch. Incidentally, though, if you're looking for battery life, this is a very strong option, as I was looking at seven to eight hours of life on this when unplugged and in light use. The screen is very vibrant and quite nice, the keyfeel of the keyboard is fine-to-good depending on your taste, and the RGB lighting is quite bright and satisfying, if that's something you're into. Overall, it's a great option for anyone looking for extremely competitive gaming performance in a reasonably functional package, with the caveat that there is a bit of setup and tweaking necessary to make it all work perfectly.

Have returned 3 of these, awful quality control

The absolute worst quality control I’ve ever seen in a consumer electronic product. Asus has been known as a reliable and high quality brand for a long time, but no more. At least not based on my experience trying to get a new G15 Advantage Edition that actually works. In the last five weeks, I have ordered — and had to replace — this computer (new each time, not refurbed or “renewed”) THREE TIMES. on sale for $1100, the specs are fantastic. That’s why I tried to get one. THREE TIMES. Issues: *Computer 1: trackpad damage, possibly in shipping. Returned. *Computer 2: broken cooling fan. Catastrophic for a gaming machine, not fixable without voiding warranty. Returned. *Computer 3: dead pixel cluster (4-6 by my count) in bottom left of display. Obvious two seconds after startup. Returned. For some reason, Best Buy won’t let you replace these things so it’s not possible to get the sale price on a replacement (aka successive purchase). So now I can try again for a FOURTH TIME once this drops back to $1100 or less, or — more likely — buy a lesser machine for that money because for whatever reason the QC here is garbage. Also, the power brick is going to look used and abused even when new. All three were scuffed to high heaven. Shouldn’t be this hard to get a decent computer that actually works. If you buy, you’re flipping a coin on whether or not you’ll need to return this thing.

Laptop is pretty good except for the one reason I decided to take I back; In "Turbo Mode", the laptops fastest mode, you'll get massive frame drops when gaming. This is a known issue and has been reported for about a year or so with no resolution. If you play it in performance mode, the next mode down, it does not have this issue, so keep that in mind.

Purchased the laptop, and could not connect to the wifi, I have to connect vie Ethernet and download the drivers. Then after a few days it literally just died on me. It never to be turn on again so I returned it… I ended up ordering the same one which came on 12/15/22. Took it home and the same issue with the Wifi, downloaded the drivers and go it working but every time it went to sleep, it would loose connection and I would have to restart the laptop it became so annoying. On top of that the screen had too much backlight bleed on the bottom left corner…Before my purchases I read many reviews about the lack of quality control ASUS has, but regardless decided to give it a shot… We’ll I regret it, so much time lost … I ended up buying the Acer Predator Helios 300!

      Dear Michael,

We certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused.

All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, these are random problems. The WIFI connection issue may not only be related to the WIFI device on the laptop. Please verify if the laptop has access to an established wireless router and internet connection is stable. Normally, ASUS provides one year warranty coverage, if product was purchased brand-new, in order to fix or repair any hardware or part that stop working prematurely under normal usage.

If you need further assistance with the laptop or other ASUS products, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be more than happy to help. Or, you are most welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent at: http://bit.ly/AsusLiveChat.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

      Dear Addieb,

We do understand your concern about thermal issue.

It is normal for the CPU to generate more heat than normal while under heavy load especially during gaming, WINDOWS Update and antivirus scan. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle. Please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. While gaming, please ensure no resource hungry applications are running in the background, this will definitely spike the temperature. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down.

Should you need further assistance with the laptop, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be more than happy to help. Or, you are most welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent at: http://bit.ly/AsusLiveChat.

I got this laptop because I have an old asus that I bought in 2011 and still working, never had a issue with that one, so I decided that was time for a new one so I got this one. I don’t know if was just bad luck or Asus is not that good anymore but I bought mine on November 18, open the box and use the laptop for the first time on November 27, and today the 29 the screen just went black, I was in the middle of a game. I’m very upset because I paid 1.172,00 on a laptop and used for less than 3 days and it’s just stopped working. I returned and got the same one, they will deliver next week, I still have faith on Asus, just hoping it was bad luck.
