Was able to get this on sale for around $1100. At that price I highly recommend. Excellent spec levels capable of handling routine gaming and Steam etc which is all I do. I wish it was less "gamer" looking with the RGB and a little more professional looking for public settings. This is my 2nd ASUS and I hope quality has improved from 2007.

I absolutely love this laptop. I waited for a few weeks to get it when it was not available.
I wanted this piece for its combination of extra AMD cores and 6800 graphics card combination.
The fan noise is a bit high when gaming, but I am okay with this.

No Complaints whatsoever, plays the new MW2 2022 on max settings at 140FPS no problem. It says it runs at 96C but the keyboard never gets hot. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Almost perfect powerfull laptop. The 6800M is great for running all games on high or ultra above 60fps. Most times above 100. Only downside is the cheap ram they out in this. Replace that and upgrade or add a hard drive and this thing punches way above it’s class. Only downside is AMD drivers can be a pain.

Great laptop! Im just mad at the fact, I bought this laptop for 1,700 and then to find out, 3 months later, it went down to 1,100! But for the price point now, your not going to find no other laptop that performs the same as this one for this price point. I get great fps in warzone(140-160fps average, 1080p max), for 1,100 bucks, their isn’t any single laptop that can compete w this one.

Alright, I've had this laptop for 7 months now. I'd planned to do a review at the half-year mark but here we are. The following are major points of like and dislike about this machine with some important facts left out of the manuals that could better help future owners:
Screen
Pros: This is of course a QHD panel (perfect for the screen size IMO), but it's also IPS with a 3ms response time. For an IPS panel, you really do get good blacks, saturation and contrast and the colors/color accuracy is really good out of the box. I don't notice any ghosting, it has a very good antiglare and viewing angles are good.
Cons:
The screen registered a little less than 300 nits when I tested (about 297 ish). It's a comfortable brightness that is easy on the eyes and I've gotten used to it, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't accidentally try to turn up the brightness a couple of times in the past.
Chassis
Pros: RGB light show aside, the laptop still looks so cool. I've always loved the attention to detail ASUS gives their Strix lineup and this is no exception. The ergonomics are really good as well: The keyboard keys have good travel distance making it very comfortable for extensive usage, and the mouse is well built/placed as it's spacious but won't get in the way of your typing experience. The dedicated keys such as volume up/down, the fan key, the Armory Crate key and the media keys are fantastically placed. The bezel surrounding the screen is very tiny which is always a plus. Good selection of ports: You've got two USB Type A 3.2 ports on the left along with a 3.5mm combo audio jack. On the back you've got your LAN port, power port, HDMI 2.0, another USB Type A and USB-C which triples as a display port AND power delivery. Nothing on the right.
Cons: The exterior is plastic and will collect your finger oil, so wipe downs are necessary after extensive use.
Battery Life
AMD just hits with battery. I absolutely love them for this. I'll just keep it simple and say that this is some of the best battery you're going to get with a gaming laptop. I get roughly 9 hours unplugged of active computing time on every cycle.
Speed
Pros: It's fast. It's very very fast. I have not had an instance in the past 7 months of this machine skipping a beat or stuttering on me. It's speed is as snappy as it's 165hz refresh rate. Very consistent as well.
Cons: This is probably where the fan noise and heat are appropriate to speak about. Man can this thing roar. It only does so if you're playing highly intensive games or if you have it in performance/turbo mode though. So, it's not really a con as laptops need thier fans RPMing it up. That being said, given it's a laptop, you can expect high temperatures while conducting intensive tasks such as gaming. But it's good at bottlenecking. You won't be seeing 90 degrees Celsius for example, it won't allow that out of the box.
All in all, I'd say this is well worth the money.

Avoid at all costs.
Product has had trouble since day 1.
Laptop would simply crash when going into sleep mode. Had to be powered fully off and powered back on.
Laptop was never able to close fully. Pops back open slightly automatically.
Just after two months after purchasing, product was placed into sleep mode and will simply not turn back on. The laptop actually died, less than three months after purchase. Never in my life have I felt more hustled. It's a complete lemon.

Dear Andrey,
We certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused.
All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, this is a random problem. If the laptop will no longer power on, boot up or it's just black screen, please do the following. Please try to do a power cycle by pressing and holding down the power button to shut it down completely. If it still black screen after a few minutes, at least 10 minutes, please repeat the power cycle process again. If the laptop is applying updates in the System Registry, it will black screen temporarily until the update were applied successfully. Also, please try to disconnect the power cable and let the unit drain for 24 hours to clear the memory. This will reset the hardware to default settings. After doing this, please reconnect your AC adapter, do not power on the laptop until the battery was charged if the battery was completely drained.
If you need further assistance, please email me at [email protected] and I would be more than happy to help. Or, you are most welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent at: http://bit.ly/AsusLiveChat.

Open Chrome and tis tab plus watch youtube on another and it is using over 12GB of ram usage. Fans are constantly ramping up for what would be no reason at all on any other pc I own. Installing programs is extremely slow compared to my 8 year old Alienware but running programs is faster. I ordered more ram will update if it helped or not. Very disappointed in how this laptop performs as shipped.

Dear AnthoneyO,
We do understand your concern about the high RAM or memory utilization and the fan speeding at full speed.
It is normal just like any other brand with the same hardware configuration, for the fan to spin at full-throttle and generates noise louder than normal while the laptop is under heavy load especially during the initial WINDOWS setup and WINDOWS Update installation. Also, the fan noise will be louder while antivirus software or malware are running continuously in the background. Please ensure the system was not compromised by viruses or malware by doing a full system scan using an internet security software or application. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle and noise will be louder than normal. It does decreases or normalizes once utilization goes down.
Should you need further assistance with the product, please email me at [email protected] and I would be more than happy to help. Or, you are most welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent at: http://bit.ly/AsusLiveChat.

I've never owned a gaming laptop before. So this was a first experience for me. The latop runs well, doesn't heat up like crazy and graphics are ok. I had a problem with the graphics card, the game that i played had noticeable problems with thin lines and sharp corners, looked up a forum and it confirmed that the graphics card that my laptop has in it (Radeon), Has problems with the game that i'm playing. I'd buy this laptop when it's on sale.

This laptop is very nice has pretty fast cpu and graphics. Gaming is nice on high- ultra depending on what game your playing. I upgraded the RAM to 32gb and added a 2TB nvme hard drive very simply. After updating all the drivers properly I am having an issue with the sleep/ hibernation sometimes when closing the lid. Also sometimes it restarts all by itself without any warning. This occurs once in a while when it sits in idle. The screen quality is nice, the resolution is 1440 and the screen brightness is pretty good. Connection this to an external monitor or TV is a breeze. I use this laptop mainly for content creation in photoshop and premier pro and can’t complain about power and speed, it works very well. You do have to tweak the settings some when your on straight battery power it will last about 2-3 hours if you gaming or video editing but if you just using this for simple stuff you can use it for a good 5-6 hours on battery power. Good quality laptop for the price.
