Uneven trackpad. Asus need to be more serious about quality control. It left a small gap between the trackpad and the frame which could let dust or liquid get inside

I bought this open box for $940 and wow. Very good battery life i.e. 10 hours with normal browsing. I haven't run this out but based on my usage. Figure 6-7 hours active. The 1440p screen is fantastic for using this as a work laptop. The screen is just big enough where the font isn't too tiny. You also are hard pressed to find anything with a 1440p screen in this price range around $1000 that is larger than a 14. Despite the previous gen CPU, this thing is still a beast. It can hang with a 3070 and 3080 in some games while falling behind them in others. The big plus is you have 12GB of video memory so you can max textures out especially on the newer games like COD without running close to the 8GB on the competition. Sure no DLSS but you don't really need it. You can run games at 1080p and have it still look crisp if you need the performance. Its also worth noting despite the high temps I mention below, the keyboard remains cool and the heat is well isolated to the side vents. The negatives: This uses liquid metal for CPU paste. While liquid metal is very good for thermal conductivity it is also electrically conductive. It also remains fluid and moves. It seems like the wrong choice to put in a laptop which will be in all kinds of positions when travelling. . . just my personal opinion. I am technically savvy and I didn't hesitate to pull the PC apart and clean up the board and replace it with Arctic MX-4. Its not the best paste but it remains soft, is easy to remove, and is not thermally conductive. I would guess the laptop runs a little warmer than stock. None the less leaving the laptop stock or changing the paste has inherent risks either way, not everyone wants to pull apart their laptop potentially breaking something. RGB and bright colors are not my thing for a laptop that is brought into the workplace. Not necessarily a negitive because you can turn it all off and replace the red notch with a grey one included in the box. Thank you Asus. Otherwise it can scream gamer. Temps are a bit warm due to the TDP of both the GPU and CPU with turbo. The GPU pulls about 140 watts which gives you excellent gaming performance but, the GPU will make its way to 80c, junction temp 90c, CPU 80-90c while under heavy load. The laptop is build well but there is simply not enough airflow or copper to dissipate 200 watts of continuous power. None the less it ran fine for a few hours when I tested it. The CPU lowers to its 2.5 ghz standard clock and the GPU holds at 80c at 137-140 watts. The memory is single rank and you need to spend $75 bucks to get a nice 32GB dual rank kit for an instant performance bump. Worth it still if the laptops on sale and you don't mind opening it. No MUX switch but, you will get added performance if you plug in HDMI. Whats great is these ports are on the back. Also the performance is still excellent whichever way you're running. It will best a 3080 in certain games with a mux switch so don't worry about it. Power brick is gigantic and heavy for the power requirements of this laptop. Final thoughts: This is a good laptop thats not for everyone. The weight and power brick still allow it to get jammed in a laptop case but, its not pretty. I would have concerns for someone that isn't going to leave this on a desk all day. PS5 had some publicity for its liquid metal leaking (whether true or not). When I opened the laptop it was very clear the liquid metal moved easily and spread beyond the die. The full chip is covered with a plastic film to prevent shorting with foam lined around the edges to keep the liquid metal from reaching further. If it were up to me, I would never put liquid metal in a regular mass produced laptop. The temps would be in the back of my mind and leave me wondering if the laptop is going to hold up with sustained 80-90c heat for hours of gaming. Personally I am mitigating this by just setting an FPS limit in the game to 60 or higher if temps are in check. I also turned off Turbo (which can be done with a reg edit to add a menu to control panel/power). This is extremely effective which keeps the CPU at 67-77c and 80 under max load. The FPS limit will unload the GPU reducing temps into the 70s as well. You might say, if I bought a laptop and had to do all that why would I both with this. The answer is, either this laptop is not for you if you are already concerned. OR If you find this at $940 or $1000, you're not going to find a PC less than $1200 at the very least that this laptop wont smoke. On top of that you have a 1440p screen which is great for productivity. Believe me I tried. If you made is this far and you're still willing to take a chance on this, then this laptop is for you. You wont be disappointed on performance. The liquid metal concerns can be averted by leaving the laptop on a desk or changing the paste or simply don't worry about it. If you want a 1440p screen this is one of the best choices. Great colors and refresh rate.

I’ve owned this laptop for almost two weeks and I have fallen in love with it. I was amazed by the gaming power of this laptop. My main game that I play is Overwatch and this laptop can run it at a steady 165 FPS. The screen is very nice with its 1440p resolution. The keyboard feels well made, the keys are smooth and silent with a bit thud to them. The touchpad feels very responsive and accurate. Unfortunately the laptop does not have a camera, but it is not a deal breaker for me. The speakers are loud and clear with a fair amount of bass to them, which is more than enough for me. I will say, the laptop tends to get quite hot while gaming, so beware of what things you keep behind it or beside it. The battery has lasted me about 5 hours while browsing and watching videos. The laptop is pretty large so it is not meant to be something you simply carry around in your hands easily when going out. I can’t wait to take this beast with me on vacation trips or gaming sessions with friends. I more than recommend this laptop and the Asus brand in general. Asus has always been reliable to me. From the beginning i was looking for an Asus laptop.

As an enthusiastic gamer and power user, I recently took the plunge and purchased the ASUS ROG G15 Advantage Edition, and boy, am I thrilled with my decision! This laptop has completely blown me away with its exceptional performance, stunning display, and robust features, making it a true winner in every aspect. Let's start with the raw power that this machine brings to the table. Equipped with AMD's Ryzen 9 processor and Radeon RX 6800M graphics, the G15 Advantage Edition delivers an unrivaled level of performance. Whether I'm gaming, streaming, or working on resource-intensive tasks, this laptop effortlessly handles everything I throw at it. The speed and responsiveness are simply mind-boggling, and I can confidently say it outperforms any other laptop I've owned before. The 15.6-inch display is an absolute joy to behold. The QHD resolution and 165Hz refresh rate combine to create an incredibly immersive visual experience. Colors are vibrant, details are crisp, and the buttery smoothness of the screen truly enhances my gaming sessions. Additionally, the AMD FreeSync technology ensures tear-free and stutter-free gameplay, which is a game-changer for competitive gaming. The build quality of the ROG G15 Advantage Edition is top-notch. The brushed metal chassis exudes a premium feel, and the backlit keyboard is a pleasure to type on. The keys are well-spaced and provide just the right amount of tactile feedback. The laptop's thermal management system is also commendable, as it keeps the temperatures under control even during intense gaming sessions, allowing me to fully enjoy extended playtimes without worrying about overheating. Another standout feature is the extensive connectivity options. The G15 Advantage Edition comes with a generous selection of ports, including USB-C, HDMI, and multiple USB-A ports, ensuring I can easily connect all my peripherals without any hassle. The Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 technologies provide seamless wireless connectivity, allowing me to connect to networks and devices with exceptional speed and stability. The battery life of this laptop is surprisingly good, considering its powerful specifications. I can easily get several hours of usage on a single charge, which is impressive considering the demanding tasks I put it through. Of course, for intensive gaming, I usually prefer to keep it plugged in to unlock its maximum potential. In conclusion, the ASUS ROG G15 Advantage Edition is an absolute beast of a laptop that has exceeded my expectations in every way. It packs an incredible punch in terms of performance, offers a stunning display, boasts excellent build quality, and provides an array of connectivity options. Whether you're a hardcore gamer, a creative professional, or simply someone who demands top-tier performance, this laptop will undoubtedly leave you in awe. Without a doubt, this is one of the best purchases I've made, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a laptop that can handle anything you throw at it. Bravo, ASUS!

Bought on sale because price for performance was too good to be true. Sadly after only a month of light gaming (valorant), the laptop screen does not turn on anymore. I was playing a game of valorant today when the screen froze and the laptop became unresponsive. Now after shutting down and restarting the laptop screen doesnt work at all and remains off. The rgb still works but the screen doesnt at all anymore. I spent a lot of research and time trying to diagnose the issue and now I am just frustrated. HONESTLY DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT NO MATTER HOW MUCH THEY SLASH THE PRICE.

If you get a working unit, with a bit of tinkering, this notebook is great. The Good: - The keyboard and trackpad are amazing. The membrane keys feel great and the glass trackpad is just *chef's kiss*. - The battery performance is insane! Gets >6 hours with about 70% brightness, and 165hz refresh rate on. Mind you, I generally only browse videos and the web on battery so YMMV. - The GPU is a monster (albeit a finicky one, more later). - Runs Hogwarts Legacy great at 1440p FSR 2.0 Quality. I get about 70 fps on ultra. Mind you the 1% lows are VERY low. More on that in the "Critical" section. - Display is bright enough for good indoor gaming. - CPU is solid, no complaints. The Critical: - The QC is all over the place. Had to return two units before this one. One shipped with a bad battery, dead pixels, oh so much backlight bleed. The other seemed just wouldn't wouldn't power on, was completely broken. (I don't think that was ASUS' fault though). - ASUS' recommended GPU drivers were woefully out of date and unstable. Installing drivers manually from AMD's site wasn't a walk in the park either, but eventually worked out. Just learn from my experience, create restore points often and install each driver one at a time (by driver date, until you get to the most recent date). - Gaming performance on performance mode was erratic, massive frame drops to the single digits at seemingly random intervals. I honestly stuck to silent mode, with a massive hit to performance, just to maintain a stable framerate in "Like a Dragon: Ishin". - The display is ok. I bought this solely for indoor gaming. if you're looking to do creative work and need a color accurate display, just don't look this way...like at all. The blacks are gray, and the color temperature leans on the warmer side by default, and it overall seemed a bit unsaturated out of the box. I eventually did calibrate it to my liking using the Radeon Adrenalin Software (added pic of my settings). - This laptop only has a max output of 4k 60 using the USB type C to HDMI out dongle. Had to buy a separate dongle. From what I understand, the HDMI port does not connect exclusively to the 6800m, so just stick with the USB C port for max performance to an external monitor. - The 5980x is a good gaming performance, but is not great compared to the intel 12th gen cpu. -Internal NVME SSD card isn't incredibly fast. - Ram isn't the fastest either, but I upgraded that almost instantly. I'll stop here. I'm not going to go deeper into things it doesn't have (like a webcam, an SD card reader, and a MUX switch), I knew what I was getting into before I bought it. But overall, the G15 AE honestly a great laptop when it's working correctly. For the sale price of $1,099, it really is a steal. Thanks for listening.

      Dear Jbrey411,

      Thank you for your comment.

We do understand your concern about the 16GB RAM preinstalled in the system. The 16GB RAM is adequate enough to run most popular games just ensure no other applications, services or processes are running in the background while gaming. These will eat some of the memory or RAM resources.

The packaging was excellent as is the exterior design and aesthetics itself. It is heavier than I expected. Pros: When plugged in it runs games buttery smooth and with games cranked to max settings I can not complain. Fans are not as loud as I thought but still noticeable so if you're trying to listen to the game in detail maybe get some headphones. Audio is still good and has some punch but nothing over the top. Far better than my nitro 5 I had. RBG is great and my version came with Windows 11. I have read about not updating to the most current Bios but It auto updated and I haven't seen any major problems to make me consider downgrading to an earlier version. I may try it later to see if there is any noticeable difference. There is not NUMPAD area, and the trade off is the keyboard layout which for me makes it much easier to type where as on other brands I felt like I was fumbling. Battery life feels above average, but I mostly keep it plugged it as I dont always need it to be mobile. Cons: This thing can get hot. The software AI does a good job of adjusting the fans in correlation to the temperature. At first depending on the mode the laptop would have in game overlay on which mode it was switching to while gaming. Very distracting. I made some changes and now it only shows if it hit the shortkey. Game performance drops when not plugged in and playing on higher settings with high refresh rate on. I may be one of the ones who need to upgrade the ram because when I hit that ceiling my FPS drops and an awful cacophony of audio sounds like its trying to get out. I am used to a small line on the F and J keys but there is a small bumb on the W key. I haven't heard from about this from anyone but I find it quite distracting to where I might return the unit simply because it feels like something is on the Key while typing and gaming. Mediatek/Wifi card sucks. Have to reset network adaptors on each boot. A minor inconvenience but seems to be better than some who randomly loose connection. Mine seems to be stable after disabling the Smart Connect option. I dont use Wifi 6/6E. TLDR; Good laptop with minor issues. If on sale it is a solid purchase.

Excellent bang for the buck. This thing competes with the 3070 Ti and 3080. Also runs well enough just powered by USB-C 100w to still play many games on medium settings and high frame rates. It is a lot quieter that way also. Only cons are giant power brick with short cable from the brick to the computer port, and it’s noisy on Turbo. Otherwise nothing to complain about. Runs hot, but it’s all AMD and these chips run hot naturally without issues. I don’t thermal throttle with it. Screen is very responsive and had almost zero backlight bleed, which was pretty awesome. 1440p is crips, games at 1080p on it look good also and have a huge performance boost if run at that resolution, as far as frames per second. Handles most any games I can throw at it on their highest graphics preset. Ultra, Very High, whatever the game’s highest preset is. If I want more frames just because, I either turn on FSR Quality or just drop resolution to 1080p. Both provide significant frame rate boosts.

I absolutely love this laptop! The performance is top-notch, especially for gaming. The powerful processor and graphics card make games run smoothly and look stunning. The display is vibrant and the high refresh rate adds to the immersive gaming experience. The design is sleek and the RGB lighting adds a cool touch. The keyboard is comfortable to type on and the backlit keys are great for gaming in low light. The cooling system does a good job of keeping the laptop cool during intense gaming sessions. The storage options are generous, allowing me to store all my games and files without any issues. The battery life is decent for a gaming laptop, but it's always good to have a charger handy for longer gaming sessions. Overall, the Asus ROG Strix 15 is a fantastic choice for gamers who want a powerful and stylish laptop. It's definitely worth the investment!

This is a beast of a laptop and even better when you buy this during it's sale (all together with tax was around $1150). You NEED a USB C to HDMI to an external monitor to bypass the iGPU to unlock it's full potential. I didn't see the problem with the wifi card, it worked fine. The RAM was also no problem but will probably upgrade that later. Pros: - Very powerful CPU and GPU with the external monitor -Handles heat well. Of course fans spin up but there's alot of power in this machine. - Very quiet during regular web surfing along with excellent battery life for normal web surfing and worl. - The RGB is beautiful - The keyboard feels great with good tactility. Cons: - No webcam - whatever you do, DO NOT UPDATE ANYTHING WITH MYASUS. When I first received it I did that and it it gave me a blue screen and couldn't boot into Win 11 anymore. Had to do a factory reset and everything was fine then. Wasn't an issue since I didn't have anything on here yet. - My experience when adding a new SSD, what the hell kind of screw does ASUS use? I couldn't get the screw loose that held the 2nd slot down. I had to take the whole module out, put the new SSD in and angle it along with the original SSD into the grooves between the screw that holds them down. It's totally fine and working now but it was absurd. Luckily I don't need to deal with that again. Overall was an excellent product so far and I didn't get one of the units that had QC issues (AVOID M3 and M4 models). Mine was MC which was 12/21 and addressed the issues. Will update by January if any issues come up

Probably the best gaming laptop you will find when it goes on sale for $1,099 and it often does. I actually bought an Open Box Excellent condition, the laptop itself was in pristine condition but it was missing the power adapter (c'mon Best Buy really??) they managed to find an Asus 240W laying around which they gave me, works fine (stock adapter is 280W though?). Battery life and screen quality was a priority for me, with gaming secondary and running in Silent mode profile I get about 8-9 hrs on battery (web browsing + coding), 8-12W idle at 38C and it truly is silent. I plug in at night to game (via the adapter or USB-C using a 100W Anker adapter) and performance is phenomenal, running Elden Ring non stop. Machine was easy to open up and upgrade, replaced the wifi with an Intel AX-200, upgraded the SSD to 1 TB, RAM to 64GB, fresh install of Windows 11 Pro, no issues whatsoever.

This laptop is amazing, I had originally purchased the 5900HX back when it released and I returned it in edit due to the amount of issues it had, track pad was misaligned, overhearing because the liquid metal leaked and was not applied properly, a myriad of issues really. Skip to August 2022 and I purchased the 5980HX model and I can honestly say I’m impressed, the unit I received is perfect, it has the fast ram and not the subpar one that came with the original version, the trackpad was perfectly aligned, no overheating issues. Honestly the only issue I had at first was the speakers crackling and as soon as I updated the laptop with the myasus drivers that was fixed. I do recommend what someone else wrote on a review here, IMMEDIATELY download the amd adrenaline drivers and use those instead of the ones myasus provides. That being said, this laptop runs all of my games at 1440p maxed out at least at 60fps on the really demanding ones, and way more on others. The 6800m sits in the middle of the 3070 and 3080 laptop GPUs, so the performance is really good. Honestly at the price point I purchased this laptop, why anyone would choose anything else would be beyond me. The 1440p screen is beautiful, the performance is amazing. Honestly other than just getting a bigger NVME, and making sure the unit received has the good RAM timings, I find no issue with this laptop. I play WoW maxed out and no issues, fps drops are not even felt because of the freesync on the rare occasions they may happen. The laptop truly is amazing, the price rivals those of 3070tis and 3080s. Honestly if you’re in the market for one, now is a great time to get one, with the release of ryzen 6000 series, these laptops are a STEAL.
